Bolton College hosted an event during National Apprenticeship Week to celebrate the talents of its hairdressing and barbering apprentices, who are set to become the next-generation of stylists for the local area, and beyond.

The apprentices were joined by Bolton-based hair salons and barber shop owners, who shared best practice and advice for the rising stars, of the hairdressing world.

Suzanne Taylor, salon owner and work-based assessor, and Karly Gee, owner of Hairfinity, were both on hand to offer valuable guidance on their trades. Past apprentices from Bolton College also attended the event to share their interview and employment experiences, and also their journeys to becoming fully-trained hair stylists.

Bolton College apprentice, Rebecca Smith, 19, said: “I’m now six months into my apprenticeship, and the event really helped me to gain a greater understanding of the next steps in my career.”

Sarah Bleackley, hairdressing curriculum leader at Bolton College, said: “We’re delighted to celebrate all of the opportunities that are available to apprentices here at Bolton College. “The event highlighted the fantastic work of our previous apprentices and some of the excellent employers, who have taken on our talented students. We’re very grateful to all who attended, for sharing their valuable knowledge and experience of this thriving industry.”
