VK Colourworks won the contract in September 2015 from holiday company, Hoburne Holidays, for interior design work for not one, but three of their holiday parks situated in Hampshire, Dorset and The Cotswolds.

Interestingly the project came about after Vicky Wilkins, director of VK Colourworks spent time on social media site LinkedIn.

She commented on several interior related forums and was then asked by another contributor to get in touch about a project they were considering.  After an initial chat, Hoburne asked them to help with a show-home makeover, which led to a conversation to see what other services they provided.

Vicky and Karley Fricker were subsequently briefed by Hoburne Holidays, who were looking to re-brand and wanted a design concept for public areas on their sites.  They met with the directors and their management team and presented ideas, colour schemes and sample boards for the concept that included zoning areas for the restaurant, café, reception areas and bars.

The scheme was enthusiastically received and Hoburne decided they wanted to create the designs into reality at three of their parks.

The North Devon company not only redesigned the floor-plans, layout of the space and created a new colour palette, but Vicky and Karley sourced all the new furniture, servery area materials, flooring, window furniture and soft furnishings.

With a tight 5 month schedule, VK Colourworks were keen to manage the whole project, so the design was realised to their exacting standards.  They worked with Hoburne’s contractors, including architects, builders, electricians and decorators to adhere to the client's timescale and plans.

The pictures and illustrations outline the “New England” style required by the park owners in order to make their public spaces more relaxing and enjoyable for their guests to enjoy.  The completion date for all venues was early March and VKColourworks are delighted to have achieved the handovers for all holiday park sites and all works, on time and within budget.

As a longstanding, family run business, Hoburne Holidays have constantly adapted their parks through the decades to meet the needs and expectations of their customers, who are keen to make the most of their leisure time.

Says Mark Preston, Director of Hoburne Properties, “The great thing about working with VKColourworks is that they bring both architectural and interior design skills to the table - it's not always easy to work with designers who don't fully appreciate the construction and sometimes structural limitations in a project.”

“From receiving their initial concepts through to practical completion, they retained a flexible and hands on approach, and they integrated well in the project team.  Having just completed three major interior refurbishment projects with them over this last winter, we have already appointed them to work with us on our 2016/17 development projects.”

Even more important was the reaction of Hoburne customers on Facebook after seeing the latest pictures of Hoburne Bashley in Hampshire.

Vicky Wilkins, director, says, “We may be based in North Devon but we have big ambitions and expectations of ourselves!  Our business has grown steadily over a 14 year period, despite the downturn in 2008.  We always had confidence in our abilities and its been wonderful to have such a wide ranging brief and the client's total confidence to deliver this for them.”

VK Colourworks was founded in 2002 when Vicky and Karley met working locally at Woolacombe.  They put their complimentary skills of spacial architecture and interior design together to meet a growing demand for holiday home makeovers and commercial design projects for bar, hotels and sports clubs.  During their time working together both women have juggled careers as working mums, but delight in their multi-tasking abilities!

From Karley, “ The projects have meant a lot of travelling and time away from home, but we both have good family units and are used to managing lots of tasks – like any working parents.  We work as a team, as do our families, so we are able to manage the work load.”

This is not VK Colourworks first out-of-county project; “We work for clients from Bristol to Cornwall, with a variety of projects, including show-home dressing for property developers, restaurant redesigns and furnishing  70 properties in a holiday complex in St Austell.’
