Tree House Living – Home Improvement Ideas From North Devon's VK Interiors

If you are over a certain age you will remember climbing trees and playing spaces in the branches with nostalgia!  Made from scraps of wood and a handful of nails, nothing beat the freedom of sitting in a tree, leaves rustling around you, looking down on the world around you. Which may explain the phenomenal interest in recent years about treehouses for adults not kids!

If you find yourself in the fortunate position of having the land and the space to build a treehouse, you have a responsibility NOT to create an eyesore!  You need to create something in keeping with the landscape, that’s appropriate for your planned uses and that’s kind to the tree!

You have to consider what type of treehouse you want and how you will use it...adventures ‘in the trees’, camping or a luxurious retreat for outdoors living.  Most treehouses are tailor made to suit individual requirements, wishes and budget, so it's important to get it right!

Once you have decided on the use, then it's time to add fun and functionality so the space fits multiple needs.  Is it a retreat for grown ups or does the fun start when you leave the ground with zip wires and hammocks?  Are you using the treehouse as an extended garden room or will it be used for over night accomodation?

Your designer will inform you about materials as they are an important factor, ensuring that your design and build are complimentary to the surrounding area and that all materials used are as natural and as sustainable as possible.
