No matter what your personal taste and style for decorating your home, its very easy to make a few inexpensive changes in your living room to give it the 'look and feel' of an interior design makeover.

Swap Summer Accessories.

Replace any light fabric cushions with wool or chanile in warm cosy colours such as burgundy or chocolate brown.   Cable-knit wools, cotton flannels, and fleecy fabrics are also ideal.  Then add a throw or two to a sofa

Soften that Lighting.

Turn off the pendant lights and use lots of candles of varying heights to give an appealing flicker, or table and floor lamps for a warm ambience.  Choose opaque lamp shades over white and ivory ones in the cooler months. You can go really dark with black or chocolate, but select a shade with a metallic interior, which will help direct the light.

Warm up that flooring.

If you have bare floorboards or laminate/wood floors, cover them up with a large, soft, but durable rug, such as one made of nylon or acrylic, giving a feeling warm.

Light a fire.

No chimney? No problem. Turning on any lighting on your fire give the illusion of heat and cosiness.  If you do have an open fire – make it up, and get it lit.

Window Warmness

Hang heavier, well lined curtains in deep colours.  Invest in full length curtains that are so cosy when closed and keep that cold, rough weather at bay.
