February half term is almost upon us and with it comes the need to find something to keep the children occupied during their week off ... so here we are with our highlights on what's happening in Hastings and the surrounding area next week.

With weather sometimes being an issue at this time of year we've come up with a range of both indoor and outdoor activities, so there's something for everyone - even if Mother Nature hasn't been kind to us!

For a great day out with all the family why not head to the Blue Reef AquariumTravel through over 40 naturally themed habitats and enjoy a fantastic journey from the shoreline of Hastings right through to the tropical waters of the deep ocean. Prices start at £6.36 for children under 12 if you book online and a ticket for a family of 4 is just £25.92 when booked online. Buy your tickets here.

Smugglers Adventure is another indoor location with a bit of an educational twist. Explore the labyrinth of secret tunnels and passages underneath Hastings West Hill where you'll discover the dangers and hardships that faced the Sussex smugglers of the 18th century. It opens again after the Winter break just in time for half term - click here to book your tickets online.

The UK's biggest indoor target sports centre is right here in Hastings at 1066 Target Sports! Individuals or teams can take part in a whole range of target sports - from axe throwing to pistols and everything in between. Pitch your skills against each other at Nerf Wars which has drop in sessions for under 18s on Thursdays and Sundays. Click here for more information. They're running an offer over half term week which is too good to miss - kids go free with a paying adult on the 5 activity package for £35. Click here to see the offer.

Hastings Art Gallery and Museum has been established for over 120 years and has always offered local people and visitors to the town the opportunity to explore art, culture and history from around the world. Don't miss the "Pots" of Love family activity day running on 13th February from 10am-3pm where you can make someone you love a clay pot or heart decoration & learn about the amazing history of pottery with object handling and a brand new trail! Click here for more.

Also on 13th February from 2-4pm is the performance of Defrosted at the White Rock Theatre. Love that frosty film or hate it, super-duo Cat (the Spot Bots Mermaid on CBeebies) & Nicko will ensure you will laugh your pants off & get snowed on! Join these lovable clowns and the magical freezer for silliness, songs & parodies; the kids save the day. For more info click here.

Mixing indoor and outdoor activity is on the cards at Clambers Play Centre. With a huge indoor soft play it's the perfect place for youngsters to let off some steam - but Clambers isn't just the place to have fun on rainy days... When the sun comes out, there's a huge garden to explore too! There's a gi-normous climbing frame, paddling pool, mega-sized sand pit, play houses, slides... and more! Visit their website here.

When the sun is shining then a spot of crazy golf down at Hastings Adventure Golf always goes down well! Situated right on Hastings seafront, it's open 364 days a year and has 3 individually themed championship courses for you to try. There's lots to do which means you can wile away the whole day or just pass the time playing a leisurely game. Children under 5 cost £3.50 for one course and a family of 4 costs £24. Book online here.

Another fair weather activity to take on is the Hastings Treasure Trail.  It's a self-guided Treasure Hunt themed Treasure Trail. Can you discover the location of the buried treasure by solving the sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features and monuments around Hastings? The Trail begins at Rock-a-Nore by the Fishermens Museum and leads you through the picturesque streets past old pubs and churches. Your quest then continues up onto West Cliff, with its 360 degree views, and finishes back down in the old town by the Jerwood Gallery and seaside amusements.
