What a lovely way to spend a weekend! The staff at The OGH at amazing! Nothing is too much trouble. Food is fabulous and plentiful. We was very lucky to get an upgrade from the sister hotel to here. Well worth staying here, 5 star service, classy hotel on the island.

Firstly amazing Paul thank you, made such a good impression from day one to day my check out, bar, restaurant did it all, even when others around him where struggling, he kept them up and going showed some wonderful leadership qualities. Secondly the food was amazing loved the chef winter menu great idea, the Crab lush, and King prawns wow!!! Room was as nice as you’d expect, the hotel just walking distance from the town centre another plus, only down side is Sunday and Monday night in Guernsey other restaurants are closed didn’t take part in afternoon tea at the OGH but it looked very busy and very popular. As I mentioned the staff are very good just that Paul did go that extra mile with time and with orders looking forward to coming back soon

From the moment we arrived (cheeky glass of Prosecco!) till we left, nothing was too much for the staff at this great hotel. The building is so central, the rooms are exceptional and the breakfasts are amazing. Like all service industries, hotels live or die with their staff, the the employees of OGH are some of the friendliest and professional I have encountered. Special kudos to Ula and Roberto at front of house and Carlos and his team for indulging our bears (long story). Best hotel by far in Guernsey.

The OGH is a nice hotel. But we stayed in a King room with a view of the harbour, and it was £470 a night. That's almost as much as the infinitely better Ritz in London. Absurd, in other words.

Service is ok, but not remotely 5 star. We sat forever waiting for service in the bar, and when I went to the bar out of frustration...the bartender told me to wait at the table for "service"...which of course never came.

The food menu is, frankly, boring...and not remotely up to what is presented as the Channel Island's only 5 star hotel.

Rooms are fine, and bedding is first rate.

I guess my problem is that the product is pretty good, but they charge you as much as you should be paying if the product were exceptional. And it simply is NOT exceptional.

I'd probably opt for the St. Pierre Park, which costs about half as much, and is really just about as good....and has the advantage of lovely grounds and gardens. It's no palace, but then, neither is the OGH.

FAB! FAB! FAB!
We have been fortunate enough to travel to every Continent in the world and have experienced many types of hotel accommodation, staff and locations....and, here in Guernsey, the OGH has to rate among the best of the best!

We were actually a day late arriving at OGH as, due to "inclement weather" we couldn't sail from Jersey (our Christmas away from home venue) to Guernsey the evening before....
Our weary travel-worn selves were very warmly greeted by Jack at reception....and he pointed us in the direction of the (rather difficult to negotiate) car park and sent Stewart (Concierge?) around to help us in with our (endless!) luggage...

We had, early for us (7.30am), a pleasant breakfast in the hotel and then crashed out for a couple of (much needed!) hours catch-up sleep....

We enjoyed a beautifully appointed room with a sea view....
We noticed that, if requested, a mini fridge could be bought to the room...and, pretty much, only 5 minutes after our request, the very obliging Stewart had lugged one up for us...what a star!

The hotel is literally only a few minutes down the hill to the main shopping/restaurant etc area....
This was a very pleasant surprise as the hotel feels "at a distance" from the rest of the world!...only a good thing!!

All the staff were a joy to meet (Jack and reception staff in particular) and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for this friendly, professional team

We were fortunate enough to meet the General Manager (Andrew) who is charm personified ....
I mention this as I/we believe it was Andrew who sanctioned our request for a late check out....but then went that step beyond...
We were not due to sail back to the UK until 22.25 hrs that evening....and we were permitted to stay "until we needed to leave"...ie. approx 21.00 hrs!...that's some "late check out, eh? (at no extra cost btw!)
AND....before we left, reception called up tp ask if we would like a "food parcel" to take with us for our journey home to the UK!....how kind, how thoughtful...we accepted, of course....
Roberto (lovely , charming man from Sicily) bought it out to our car as we were leaving the hotel... it was absolutely delicious and most welcome!

Whilst this latter part of the review is not necessarily about the hotel I have written it to use as an example of the way the management and staff really do care about and value their guests!

If I lived in Guernsey this would become my second home....as I don't live in Guernsey I/we just dream to return!

Well done one and all!
FIVE STARS without hesitation!

I believe this is the first time I have ever eaten here, I have attended weddings and meetings in the past. I had forgotten how elegant and classy this hotel is. We had a couple of drinks at the bar, before being shown to out table. Unfortunately the restaurant was quiet, probably due to the current situation. I ordered the Chicken pate and the main dish of Ribeye, The service level was excellent, the food was really good, and the wine was just right. This was a really special evening out, it’s fine dining at one of Guernsey’s top hotels.

The food, the room, the care at OGH were all outstanding.
We loved everything about the New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner; the food, the music and the attentiveness of every single member of the OGH team made our evening truly memorable.
The New Year’s Day lunch was, similarly, seamless-beautiful flavours, exquisitely served in luxuriously comfortable surroundings.
To us, OGH is truly a home from home on the beautiful island of Guernsey.

Great place for afternoon tea. I live in Guernsey and its one of the best places to experience it. Fab service and food with a great selection of tea blends witch aren't simply packets of Twinnings ( which I like but prefer more refined, quslity loose leaf tea).
The only thing with this group is they auto add 12.5% service charge to all bills... You can ask to remove it but most people feel bad so they pay it.... Just something to be aware of or take into account as a Deluxe afternoon tea is £28 (£7 extra if you want a glass of prosecco).

Lovely hotel. Good position a short 5 minute walk into town centre. Uphill on way back.
Standard room was a bit on the small side, and no view.
Breakfast very good, and ate in the hotel twice in the evening, which was also very good.
Bar service on the slow side.
Reception and concierge very efficient.

Having just come back from spending 5 nights at OGH I wanted to share. We were lucky enough to be given a balcony room with a sea view. The room and the facilities were exceptional. From the moment we arrived and the hire car was valet parked. Every member of staff without exception was so helpful and friendly. The meals in the hotel were fantastic, we particularly enjoyed the breakfasts. I also had a treatment in the spa and again can say probably one of the best facials I've ever had. We have stayed in Guernsey many times, but staying at this hotel made the experience so special. I hope we get to stay here again. 💓
