Had an absolutely fantastic stay here for a long weekend. Service was exceptional staff were friendly and super helpful. If you stay definitely recommend the curry restaurant Indian and South African fusion was amazing.

If this hotel definitely deserves its 5 stars it is because of its staff both heloful and friendly (special mention to Pamela and all her good vibes.) Regarding its accommodations I wouldn’t be so generous. Of course the building is full of history and beautiful pieces of furniture. Yet the suite we stayed in was quite old fashioned and would definitely need some improvement (the fridge for example seems to be 30 years old and is empty with nothing in it). The food was good but the breakfast buffet is rather poor for a fussy eater. There is clearly here a great potentialité that is just waiting to be exploited.

Our stay at this hotel was perfect, from start to finish: the hotel is beautiful, the room 323 luxurious, spacious and very bright, the bedding perfect. The garden of the hotel is very peaceful and allows for breakfast outside. Outdoor swimming pool, gym and spa area are an asset. The hotel is located in the centre of St Peter's and can therefore be done on foot. Note that the island is mostly visited by bike.
But above all, the staff at the hotel is amazingly kind and professional. I had a bike accident during my stay and all the staff were attentive and adorable with me. Kris at the front desk is a big asset for the hotel as it is perfect! He is very professional, always has a smile, is attentive with everyone, with always a nice little word. A thousand thanks Kris for room 323 and for allowing us to stay until the ferry departs.

We absolutely loved this place! Welcoming from the start to the finish and all the way through with nothing too much trouble. Our German Shepherd was the star of the show and it's rare to find such a quality establishment accepting pets everywhere. Breakfasts were excellent and the curry room fantastic. The Brasserie is ok, but perhaps the menu could be more adventurous. Then again, being so central the the vast range of eateries throughout St. Peter Port we had some sumptuous food. Have to hand it to the CEO Jonathan Raggett, that the staff really do make the difference and if there are any discounts going to try other Red Carnation hotels then count us in! As it stands, we will be returning next year to Guernsey with pleasure!

The hotel is super nice with a great Welcoming. Service is excellent. Kris was adorable and thanks to him we spent two dream days at the Hotel.
The room was very comfortable and the restaurant delicious.
I highly recommend this place and hopefully Kris will welcome you.
Thank you to the whole team for the care

The positives:

The Historic and Very British Mood The Location The Garden The Pool The Room (King Master Suite) Staff Attentions Evening treats on the bed Super scones The quality of the sheets and towels And especially one of the members of the Welcoming very efficient to organize our visits and speaking perfect French

Less satisfactory points for a 5-star hotel:

For example, more cottage cheese this morning, jams Bonne Maman (in a 5 star (bof)), very average pastries, few bread choices, no chocolate sauce, cereals presented in sachets no possibility of having fresh juices pressed, no lobster offered, sandwich afternoon Tea that should be presented more beautifully in small quantities Cutlery steel and not silver metal, overall the kitchen deserves more refinement and more flavors

It is rare to find top service nowadays, but this is what we experienced at the OGH. Kris was superb, handling our queries and saving us time and money on an item left at the airport. Saitish was fantastic in the bar. Both a credit to the hotel, many thanks

My first solo trip as a widow. I was met with kindness, efficiency and a staff group that were absolutely brilliant always. The hotel is beautiful, super clean, exactly as described on the website and amazingly comfortable. The room was looked after beautifully during my stay and the staff were there to meet every need. Amenities wise, I mainly used the bistro where fresh local fish and vegetables were the order of the day. Great recommendations from the team and again service that couldn’t be faulted. The grounds are lovely with a great pool which was welcome after the heat of the day. Highly recommended.

We are pleased that we chose the lovely Old Government House hotel earlier this month. The staff’s helpfulness and professionalism were on target when our AC wasn’t working in our room. We greatly appreciated Kris and his staff with this situation. They switched our rooms and we couldn’t have been happier.

Breakfast was delicious - continental and cooked menu options gave us excellent choices. We will choose this wonderful hotel again if we return to Guernsey.

We are traveling from East Riding of Yorkshire to Guernsey via Poole ferries as I write this.
This is the 4th visit for us in a year so that speaks volumes.
On our previous visits to OGH have been wonderful. I had a special birthday there, our wedding anniversary, a Christmas event, and a few family meal/ stays which this 5 ⭐️ hotel was the perfect venue.
It’s truly got to be the best hotel on St Peter Port. I will enclose some photos of our stays and I’m sure you will understand too why it’s the only 5 star hotel on the island.
Beautiful historic building, Gorgeous clean rooms, lovely welcome at reception. Bars, communal rooms ( piano/ music) and stunning restaurant with menu’s to suit any palate.
Unfortunately we left this holiday booking ( July 25 ) too late therefore “no rooms at the Inn”
So lesson learned there! .
We will still visit The old government house for meals and drinks and hopefully get a few day passes to their fantastic pool and spa. I best not forget the Staff! Very attentive, fun, friendly, and most of all very professional. ❤️

We just had to leave a review after another amazing holiday at the OGH. Great room with a view of the pool, great food, beautiful building in an ideal central location. Andrew, your staff are amazing, greeting us every day as if we were old friends, and we felt so welcome we can’t wait to come back. I always say it’s unfair to name names as without exception all the staff we encountered were brilliant, but a special thank you to concierge Stuart, Alessandro, Siya and Alice in the restaurant and Lovejoy in the bar , who introduced me to my new favourite drink 😊. Thank you again and we can’t wait to come back! Julie & Ben.

Wonderfully attentive staff across the whole hotel! The Brasserie was a delight to dine in. Bryn, Alice, Joy and all of the team couldn’t do enough for you. The personification of high quality staff that obviously enjoy their jobs and love to interact with guests. I saw the staff treat all guests with respect and went out of their way to be of assistance and help in any way. Truly lovely people.

I had the most amazing authentic English afternoon tea experience at The Old Government House Hotel & Spa with my fiancé and his mum.
Everything was perfect—from the elegant setting to the beautifully arranged tiered stand of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. The tea selection was lovely, and the staff were absolutely amazing—so warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit.
It was such a special and memorable afternoon in a truly charming and historic setting. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to enjoy a proper English afternoon tea in Guernsey. We’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic evening at the OGH. Delicious seafood platter, brilliant, cocktails, and wonderful service throughout the evening. The staff even created a bespoke coffee with a picture for Tessa my dog. Alessandro and his team five star as always.

Beautiful hotel with old English island vibes. Extremely friendly staff, excellent breakfast and so kind to our 3 month old baby. Thank you very much to Kris & team!

Premium room was not well positioned nor had enough space for a fridge to keep milk and make tea. Best bit- very comfy bed. Too colonial - conservatory side. However, very helpful staff. Friendly too. Especially Kris the duty manager & Stuart.

Whilst the hotel is 5 star thanks to its excellent facilities; it is its staff that really make this hotel stand out from the crowd. We chose Guernsey as a holiday location as we’d got a dog and never having travelled with her before, wanted something easy. We all were made to feel welcome; we had a suite which was a real treat and dog bed and bowl were provided. When this hotel says ‘pets allowed’ what they mean is ‘pets are loved’ ! The dog was made to feel as welcome as we were. Food was delicious (particularly the lamb curry served up in The Curry Room which was outstanding). We will definitely be back!

We held our wedding at the OGH and couldn’t fault our experience. Planning everything from abroad made it a little more difficult but the events manager, Mel, was exceptional—she made us feel completely at ease and in safe hands from the very start. In the lead-up to the big day, everything from the food tasting to the planning meetings with the team was smooth, professional, and accommodating.
On the day itself, the staff were fantastic—attentive, warm, and seamless in their service. So many of our guests commented on how great the team was. We opted for a three-course meal, which received rave reviews. Everything ran perfectly and exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely recommend the OGH to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-run wedding venue.

Lovely beautiful old building. Went for drinks before dinner.
Be careful though - when ordering a Gordon’s gin and tonic they will charge you for a double Whedons!!! Couldn’t complain because I didn’t want to make a scene. Not impressed I must say!
Rest of the place stunning and as it should be!

We had an amazing time at the fantastic hotel. Our suite was very luxury and had everything we needed in

I cannot, in all honestly, pick out one member of staff who was outstanding because the whole of the staff team, without exception, from the cleaners to the managers were exceptional.
