From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff and check in went very smoothly. We had a tour of the hotel and our bags were taken to our room for us. We ate at some of the recommended restaurants and appreciated them being suggested to us. The housekeepers do an excellent job, their hard work is very much appreciated and we could not fault the cleanliness of the room! We enjoyed the evening treats after turn down too! The supplies of coffee and biscuits in the room were a nice touch and our water was regularly replaced when it ran out. The staff who work in the restaurant and bar are very attentive and made our breakfast there most enjoyable. The kitchen staff and chefs also deserve praise as everything we ate was delicious, we could not fault the food at all or the quality of the produce available like the fruit at breakfast. We used the space facilities twice, it was disappointing that the steam room was out of service. The sauna was great however did have a funny smell it could do with some aromas in there.
Our stay went so smoothly, it is a beautiful hotel and the staff and quality of everything was exceptional and we would definitely recommend your hotel and stay again!

I not sure where to start. Wonderful hotel and staff I guess would be the best way. While visiting Guernsey I fell and broke my hip. We were only supposed to stay for 3 nights, but with my fall it ended up being 9 nights. I spent 5 nights in the hospital and the staff was more than accommodating. They went out of there way to make sure my wife was taken care of which was so comforting to me. They transported her back and forth from the hospital and hotel and the restaurant staff sent pastries each morning with her for me. I had surgery on my birthday and a couple of the staff came to the hospital with a delicious piece of cake and sang happy birthday. Just absolutely a wonderful hotel!

Old school proper hospitality. Whilst we received amazing hospitality on the majority of the trip, it could do with a few tweeks. Some of the rooms are noisy due to the spa and air con units. Service was mostly 5* but one day was really lacking & couldn't get a boiled egg correct. On the whole the portions at breakfast were huge, the staff v friendly, although one person spent her time chatting instead of serving so took half hr to take order. They did go above and beyond mostly & I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Lovely atmosphere & friendly staff too

A very old-fashioned hotel, which is a big plus these days.
PRO’S:-
Every one of the staff provide exemplary service in a friendly & efficient way, from reception, concierge, restaurants, bars, spa, housekeeping etc. They are all a real credit to the manager.
The food was excellent, particularly at breakfast. No chance of getting bored with the same food over a 5 night stay.
CON’S:-
We stayed in a suite where the air con was quite inefficient - OK for us as the temperature didn’t get above 20 degrees during our stay, but if your’e staying during a warm spell in summer it might get uncomfortable.
The shower in our suite was a 600 x 600 cubicle - too small for a 6 footer like me.
The spa is basic and not up to the standard of more modern hotel facilities. If this is important to you I would suggest you consider staying elsewhere. Also although the outdoor pool area is nice, the pool is only heated to 25 degrees, so a bit chilly at this time of the year. There is no easy access from the spa to the pool, although each have their own changing rooms.
We had a family with young children staying above us and we could hear them running across the floor - up to 10.30 at night & from 07.00 in the morning. Not the hotels fault, but the lack of sound insulation between floors in these circumstances is an issue.

We would definitely stay again if we return to Guernsey in the future.

Just had a week’s holiday here and cannot find anything negative to say! What a wonderful hotel! Everything about it was first class from the moment we arrived. All the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The bedroom was beautiful and the linens and towels were of the highest quality. Breakfast in the lovely dining room was plentiful with choices to suit even the fussiest of eaters!
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and hope to make a return visit.

First class service and presentation from the welcome drink when we arrived to the sincere good luck, hope to see you again on departure day.

Special mention to the very hardworking staff, always helpful, always with a smile on their faces. Nothing too much trouble.

Well equipped gym & spa and a heated outdoor pool. Centrally located in a good position , our room had a view of the harbour.

It’s the little bits that this hotel offers that makes it special, like a little confectionery gift that is left every night with the turn down service.

Just back from an amazing trip to Guernsey. We stayed at the OGH hotel in the heart of St Peter Port. It certainly lived up to its 5 stars. From the moment we walked through the door we were made welcome by reception staff and Roberto the concerige Manager (who had a smile and chat for everyone ) who gave us a guided tour of the Hotel with a welcome drink , a lovely touch. From the restaurant staff who were attentive and professional to the chap who cleaned our room and created an Elephant from towels. First class service from everyone and nothing was too much trouble. As it was our wedding Anniversary the general manager left a lovely kind note and gift in our room. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

Just returned from a short stay at The Old Government House Hotel and Spa. Having arrived early morning from the overnight ferry, excellent service began at the port with Roberto waiting to collect us for our prearranged transfer to the hotel. Bags were whisked into storage and refreshments were offered which was a lovely gesture and most appreciated.
Great service from Kris Ragoo, who kindly contacted us later that morning to say our room would be available early which was wonderful as we were very weary after a rather choppy ferry crossing the night before!
Check in was swift and efficient. Kris gave us a quick tour of the hotel to point out facilities and provide useful information before arriving in our room to find our bags already there. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
ALL staff were courteous, smiling and considerate making our visit to the hotel a very memorable experience. 5* rating well deserved. We loved it!

Wow! They certainly earn their 5 stars here. Set up the hill overlooking the Marina in St Peter Port this grand hotel is delightful. We indulged in a magnificent afternoon tea in the brasserie looking onto the gardens and the island of Sark beyond. The food and patisserie was all made in house and the presentation was superb. Obviously not a cheap option at £40 per person but such a lovely treat! The service was so professional, first rate and charming with it. Do go if you can.

Visiting friends who live in Guernsey, we booked the OGH for the weekend for a stay with our teenage children. We’ve had the most beautiful stay, made so, mostly, by the staff. Each and every one of them, has been totally outstanding. Always smiling, they go above and beyond and cannot do enough for you. A quintessential, old school charm kind of place, perfectly located and a must stay when visiting Guernsey.

What a great hotel and fantastic staff. Nothing is too much. We had some nice conversations. Nice location. And English-style hotel. Everything so beautiful. Delicious food too. Thanks also Kris for all the tips you have given us.

If this hotel definitely deserves its 5 stars it is because of its staff both heloful and friendly (special mention to Pamela and all her good vibes.) Regarding its accommodations I wouldn’t be so generous. Of course the building is full of history and beautiful pieces of furniture. Yet the suite we stayed in was quite old fashioned and would definitely need some improvement (the fridge for example seems to be 30 years old and is empty with nothing in it). The food was good but the breakfast buffet is rather poor for a fussy eater. There is clearly here a great potentialité that is just waiting to be exploited.

Our stay at this hotel was perfect, from start to finish: the hotel is beautiful, the room 323 luxurious, spacious and very bright, the bedding perfect. The garden of the hotel is very peaceful and allows for breakfast outside. Outdoor swimming pool, gym and spa area are an asset. The hotel is located in the centre of St Peter's and can therefore be done on foot. Note that the island is mostly visited by bike.
But above all, the staff at the hotel is amazingly kind and professional. I had a bike accident during my stay and all the staff were attentive and adorable with me. Kris at the front desk is a big asset for the hotel as it is perfect! He is very professional, always has a smile, is attentive with everyone, with always a nice little word. A thousand thanks Kris for room 323 and for allowing us to stay until the ferry departs.

We absolutely loved this place! Welcoming from the start to the finish and all the way through with nothing too much trouble. Our German Shepherd was the star of the show and it's rare to find such a quality establishment accepting pets everywhere. Breakfasts were excellent and the curry room fantastic. The Brasserie is ok, but perhaps the menu could be more adventurous. Then again, being so central the the vast range of eateries throughout St. Peter Port we had some sumptuous food. Have to hand it to the CEO Jonathan Raggett, that the staff really do make the difference and if there are any discounts going to try other Red Carnation hotels then count us in! As it stands, we will be returning next year to Guernsey with pleasure!

The hotel is super nice with a great Welcoming. Service is excellent. Kris was adorable and thanks to him we spent two dream days at the Hotel.

The positives:

The Historic and Very British Mood The Location The Garden The Pool The Room (King Master Suite) Staff Attentions Evening treats on the bed Super scones The quality of the sheets and towels And especially one of the members of the Welcoming very efficient to organize our visits and speaking perfect French

Less satisfactory points for a 5-star hotel:

For example, more cottage cheese this morning, jams Bonne Maman (in a 5 star (bof)), very average pastries, few bread choices, no chocolate sauce, cereals presented in sachets no possibility of having fresh juices pressed, no lobster offered, sandwich afternoon Tea that should be presented more beautifully in small quantities Cutlery steel and not silver metal, overall the kitchen deserves more refinement and more flavors

It is rare to find top service nowadays, but this is what we experienced at the OGH. Kris was superb, handling our queries and saving us time and money on an item left at the airport. Saitish was fantastic in the bar. Both a credit to the hotel, many thanks

My first solo trip as a widow. I was met with kindness, efficiency and a staff group that were absolutely brilliant always. The hotel is beautiful, super clean, exactly as described on the website and amazingly comfortable. The room was looked after beautifully during my stay and the staff were there to meet every need. Amenities wise, I mainly used the bistro where fresh local fish and vegetables were the order of the day. Great recommendations from the team and again service that couldn’t be faulted. The grounds are lovely with a great pool which was welcome after the heat of the day. Highly recommended.
