Herm Island
Herm Island has an exceptional and diverse range of restaurants and dining options. The White House Hotel offers more formal dining at the Conservatory Restaurant as well as a relaxed atmosphere at the Ship Inn Brasserie or try the Black Rock Grill or light meals and snacks at The Mermain Tavern. Herm Island - where dining is always a pleasure!

We were back to Herm staying for the third time over the years, the cost of staying was expensive but we thought about past visits and were happy about this. The meals in the Conservatory were excellent and because we were vegetarian the chef gave extra items for us. However, it always used to be old style values, tea and coffee available in the lounge all day - gone. A light lunch in the Ship Inn - gone. Beach cafes closed with no notification. We were also disturbed by the number of quad bikes that were travelling at quite a speed up and down passed our room in the Foxglove Cottage starting at 8am on the dot. The staff are hard working, polite and cannot do enough for you which is so commendable. We have been day trippers to Herm since 1985 and even after Peter and Jenny Wood died the values were still the same. It now seems to be just a money making island which is so sad. We will be told that there is a lot of money being spent on infrastructure but we would have spent more if it was not so expensive. Sorry Herm you are not what you used to be.

The Blonde Hedgehog
The Blonde Hedgehog bar and restaurant is the heart of the hotel and serves sumptuous farm-to-table dishes and delicious homely deserts made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Inspired by island life on Alderney, our vision for the restaurant is to create innovative and exciting plates using predominantly locally-grown ingredients.

Dinner here proved an enjoyable experience. Food well considered, with the flavours balanced by a clearly confident chef. As it was my birthday, only sorry that champagne not available by the glass, though I had a fine Malbec instead. Lovely touch was pudding served with ‘Happy Birthday’ written in chocolate on plate. Staff attentive and service good. Fairly expensive, but worth it for food and room design.

What is not to like about La Perla. From the friendly welcome, to the great value menu, yep, you really can get three courses for under £15 and delicious food.
So many things are good, actually so many things are great about this place. The menu has a good range of starters, mains and desserts. The bar has a selection of reasonably priced drinks and the staff look as if they actually want to be there, serving you.
I love the atmosphere and will go back again. One of our group ordered the apple pie for dessert and it came with ice cream, he asked if he could have custard and although it wasn’t on the menu, they served it with custard and it wasn’t a problem.
I don’t live in Guernsey but have been twice this summer already and it is becoming my ‘go to’ place. I have to eat a gluten free diet and on the first occasions asked if they could cater for me...they did and did it very well. On my second visit I didn’t need to ask and a gluten free roll was brought out for me alongside with the bread for the table....now that is good service!

This is the underrated gem of Guernsey. Fantastic place to stay with with clean, freshly decorated rooms. Happy, friendly staff. Even though the breakfast is great, if you get chance to eat in the restaurants at night the food is top quality.

Having read the previous review about Sunday lunch, I’m not sure we were both in the same place as we had a wonderful lunch.
The roast beef was succulent, melted in your mouth served with a rich and tasty gravy. Crispy roast potatoes with lovely fresh seasonal vegetables.
The staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them.
As for the desert, wow! A trio of chocolate, what’s not to love. Top marks to the chef.

The restaurant staff are led by one of the most professional, enthusiastic gentlemen that we have encountered in our travels. We informed the manager of our opinion too. Thank you Alessandro.
