Guernsey is a hidden gem, and the hotel location is fantastic, right in the heart of St Peter Port. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food is superb - one of the best places to dine in Guernsey. But what makes the hotel extra special are its people - too many to mention but a big thank you to Jack, George, Alessandro, Carl. Everyone who looked after us in the restaurant and bars and the housekeeping team are always smiling and caring for their customers. We’ve already booked our next trip, thank you.

We loved our stay at OGH. The staff are very unique and friendly and make you feel very welcome. The room was amazing having the balcony with views over the harbour. It was a delight to watch the varying scenes unfold. It was a great mix of traditional formality and yet informal at the same time. I imagine a lot of the team had worked at the hotel for a long time.

The only gripe we had was the Kitchen
We ate in the brasserie in the first night and the meal really was quite unpleasant. The main course of turbot wasn’t very tasty and my partners fish and chips was very greasy we both came away from the meal with unsettled stomachs! We did wonder whether there was a chef issue. Hot breakfasts were very inconsistent varying from waiting 45 mins but tasting hot and fresh to being delivered very prematurely and luke warm like they had been sitting on a buffet in the kitchen. One eggs Benedict had weird hollandaise steeped in vinegar. I tried one again later in the week and t was ok! The breakfast buffet though was excellent as were the waiting staff.

I imagine it must be a tough time with staffing post covid and I was impressed the hotel is up and running again

The service and experience is 5 star. We stayed in room 218 a Queen Deluxe which overlooks the port and swimming pool (see pictures).

The bed was a brilliant size and there was a desk to work at.

The attention to detail makes the stay comfortable and the staff were all friendly and happy to help with any request.

We lounged by the heated pool in the sun, had cocktails in the old St John Coward room.

The brasserie looked inviting with for afternoon tea.

I especially liked the parking service for my car; simply park in the loading bay and the hotel will park your car.

From the moment we arrived at OGH the professionalism and friendliness of the staff was immediately apparent. In fact, we have never received such a warm welcome. The staff are simply all wonderful.

Ula on reception was SO friendly and professional. Her smile is contagious.

Roberto was always very helpful and attentive and sorted out restaurant bookings and anything else we needed immediately.

Alessandro in the restaurant was wonderful too. Attentive, friendly and professional.

We could continue to name names but there are simply too many…..

The hotel itself has wonderful views and gardens. When the sun shines it is a pleasure to sit outside having breakfast and lie by the pool soaking up the sun.

Public rooms are well appointed and have individual style and character. It’s certainly not run of the mill decor.

Food in the Brasserie was good. However it would be nice to see more Guernsey fish and shellfish on the menu. The cocktails were even better!!

Our bedroom was large and had great views of the sea. The decor reflects the rest of the hotel and is individual and characterful.

Overall it was a wonderful stay - the hotel is beautiful outside and in. However it really was the staff that made our stay. They go the extra mile and if anything is wrong they go out of their way to rectify immediately.

We enjoyed it so much, we are back again next week for another 5 days!!

Stayed here for business for a night. Location is excellent for St Peter Port centre. If you are expecting Dubai 5* it’s not but it’s the best I have stayed at on the Island. If you like friendly, not stuck up but good quality then you will be fine.

This was our second stay at OGH. Sadly, whilst our visit was very enjoyable we didn’t feel it matched our previous experience which was perfection. We had one or two issues that left us feeling disappointed. Firstly, we asked reception at OGH if they could arrange a taxi to collect us from the airport a week before we arrived and we’re told none were available! We googled taxis in Guernsey and on our second telephone call arranged a taxi!! Secondly, on the second day our room hadn’t been cleaned by 3.30pm in the afternoon. This is the first time in a five star hotel that we’ve experienced this. In fact, we had to ask for the room to be cleaned ourselves!Lastly, my wife was disappointed because she mentioned that our visit was to celebrate my birthday and previously OGH had made some nice gestures to make it a special occasion. No effort was made. Sadly, we just felt our visit to OGH did not match our previous experience and left underwhelmed.

This is such a lovely hotel, full of history yet luxurious, a friendly family feel with impeccable service. Dining in the garden or the restaurant is a great experience- breakfasts, afternoon teas, dinner in either the Indian dining room or main restaurant is superb. The chateaubriand was the best we had ever tasted! Just love this hotel and the team there

Our 3 nights here were not enough! We loved this place; from the amazing welcome at reception to our check out all the staff excelled themselves - nothing was too much trouble, as guests we felt as if we were the most special residents there!

Breakfast, both from quality and choice perspective was outstanding, and we had one of our best ever Indian meals in the Curry room. The hotel is elegant, very attractive with a lovely pool area, we can't think of anything detrimental to say about the place.

We stayed in room 204, and although one of the 'cheaper' rooms we had a lovely harbour and sea view, and although small had all the facilities you'd expect from a hotel of this standard.

The hotel is a short (uphill!) walk from the harbour and town - hopefully we will return to this wonderful island, and when we do we would without doubt stay again at the OGH.

Fantastic old world charm with great service from start to finish.
Friendly staff made sure we had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Bit of a climb up the hill to the hotel from the harbour but worth it for the views and location!

It's probably not quite a five-star hotel. The environment needs some TLC in places ( some cash investment!!)
However, the staff in all areas, are definitely five-star. Many thanks for everything. The food and the lounges and bars are very good. The situation of the hotel is superb, and the prices charged for both food and drink, is good. All in all, a lovely hotel, which is a credit to the beautiful island of Guernsey

Fantastic staff, definitely five-star
Hotel position really good too
Food and drink very good, and value for money too
The hotel's environment is lovely, but in need of a little investment in parts
The lounges and brasserie are very comfortable
Parking is a little precarious!. Best left to valet parking. That service is good too!
Overall, a fabulous island, and a hotel which does credit to it

We enjoyed our 4 nights at OGH after the recent opening of the island to vaccinated travellers.

The staff were all so friendly, efficient and considerate. It’s very hard to pin point anyone exemplary. Ursula is a great asset at reception with her welcoming smile and efficiency.

Roberto did an amazing job securing a horse and carriage in Sark for us whilst only three carriages were operating out of the 12.

Evan at the bar looked after us on our arrival day and was always smiling and engaging.

Tatiana in the restaurant was always friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed the breakfast selection something for everyone of the highest quality, eggs Benedict exceptional, the summer fruits, Greek yoghurt, bread and croissants were exceptional.

We enjoyed our meal in the curry room a nice experience.

It was very impressive on check out day that housekeeping management and staff were near our room and unprompted they asked if we needed any help with our luggage- that really is a sign of well trained, motivated staff passionate about the guest experience.

We hope to return to OGH one day. The island surpassed our expectations in terms of wide range of excellent and not good expensive restaurants with interesting things to do. The locals are very friendly, chatty and helpful.

Visited here today for an afternoon tea as we are in Guernsey on our honeymoon.

For £28 each this was very good value! The food was delicious, and plentiful! We had to take a number of the sweets away with us as we couldn’t finish them.

The staff knew it was our honeymoon so they gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne and a complimentary dish of macaroons and berries.

Service was impeccable! Highly recommend.

We booked a 60 minute full body massage each and upgraded for £10 to use the spa totalling £180.

The massage was top notch. You are offered a deep tissue, Hawaiian or Swedish. I chose deep tissue and the technique of the masseuse was excellent. I Turku felt relaxed and my back felt great.

I was however disappointed by the condition of the spa. My shower drain was loose in the shower, the head of the shower coming off, the locker Wood was hanging off. It was clean and we were the first people in that day. The massage beds did elevate which was nice and the heated bed worked.

For a 5 star spa the attention to detail needs to be better. During the massage there was no warm blanket, just a white towel over the body so you got cold. So your under body was warm but you too and feet were freezing. The relax room had the pool pump next to it which was loud and the hot water came from a plastic kettle. St Pierre have a plumbed in instant hot water tap which is where a 5 star should be.

I also had to listen and watch the reception staff speak in their native tongue whilst eating their lunch. I’d suggest closing the door to allow for the opulent 5 star experience.

For anyone driving there is outside parking on a 1 hour limit but most likely these will be taken if you go midday. Guernsey parking in town is a challenge and 1 hour isn’t enough for a treatment.

This is a place to get an amazing massage, but an all day relaxing spa, it needs work and attention to detail to create the relaxing ambience you get from a 5 star spa.

If you want a stay with the nicest staff ever then this is for you. Nothing is too much trouble. My grownup children staying on Guernsey stayed for two nights there and we all had Christmas lunch together. The hotel looked very magical
and was decorated beautiful for a traditional Christmas. From Ula on reception to everyone in the restaurant, run beautifully by Alessandro just so friendly and helpful. Andre, is a great manager and his team work very hard.

As a footnote my little dog loves the hotel ... we have stayed there when relocating here ... he is made so welcome and would probably would move in if he could!!

Thank you OGH for making Christmas lovely in this weird time!

Really lovely location, felt delightfully posh, service could have been a little better for such a nice place to really top off the experience, but I would definitely recommend.

We had the most amazing 3 night stay at the OGH. From the moment we checked in to the very moment we left , we were treated with great courtesy and professionalism. We loved the evening turn down service which left us wondering what we would get in our treat box. The afternoon tea was just amazing . We were very lucky with the weather, but still welcomed the heated pool. We wish them all the best in these uncertain times and thank them for their fabulous hospitality.
