What a wonderful hotel! It has been over 20 years since we stayed in Guernsey and after staying at this beautiful place we can’t wait to return again soon, hopefully next year. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel so welcome and at home by the lovely Head Concierge, Roberto. Breakfast in the mornings were a real treat with delicious food and everything so well run under the friendly and most helpful Alessandro, the Restaurant Manager. Everything about our stay at the Old Government House Hotel was excellent, I honestly cannot find fault with anything and all the staff were a delight.

This was our Second Visit to OGH in Guernsey.

The Service is 10* at this hotel, all the staff are on top of their game.

The food, drink, atmosphere is brilliant and the beds are super comfortable.

Alessandro and his team were amazing in the Restaurant as was Roberto and his Team in the Concierge.

Looking forward to the 3rd time in the near future!

Thank you!

Best Regards,

Carla & Jamie Atkins

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the OGH. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the week. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you feel very valued as a guest. I would be happy to recommend the OGH to my friends. Thank you and your team for making our Guernsey vacation so pleasant.

Kind regards from the heart of Switzerland Toni & Brigitte

My wife and I were in Guernsey for the weekend to celebrate our ruby (40th) wedding anniversary. We stayed in one of the suites (the Sark Suite) with a view over the harbour. We ate in the Brasserie on two of our three nights at the hotel.

I agree with some of the other comments made in recent reviews of the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, but the decor was a little bit tired. The food was very good. What really set the hotel apart for us, though, was the service. We have been fortunate to have stayed in many good hotels over the years, but the level of service that we enjoyed at The OGH was second to none. Every member of staff that we came across was delightful - and nothing was too much trouble. It is invidious to single out any individual, but Roberto (the Head Concierge) deserves a special mention.

The OGH is a lovely hotel, just a short walk to the harbour. We had a Queen room, not too big but ok. However the bathroom is rather on the small side and tired. There shower screen could be replaced as could the bath, enamel was wearing off. The bed although was very comfortable. The treats in the evening were lovely.

The other half used the gym, I used hot tub/spa once unfortunately. This was due to the fact if you’re out for the day it is not available after 17:30, which to me does not make sense, hence 4 out of 5.

The breakfast is lovely, lots of choice and nothing too much trouble.

Worth a stay.

Let's have some positive feedback : great location , all the team members were delightful , food and beverage very good , dinner on the first night exceptional , bed was very comfortable and the best part of the room , the view wasn't bad . Room 138 is not 5 star - frankly nothing like ! I refer to the fist line of your Website which states " Throw open your windows and breathe deep " .... well you can't as they are wedged shut and the room was both stuffy & warm which is not solved with the air conditioning. We resorted to keeping them open about 5cm with blocks of wood supplied by the guy who came to do room service. The shower measured no more than 70cm x 70cm square. This is not 5 star and for a price of over £500 per night frankly not up to scratch. If there are occupants in the room above you are then kept awake until they go to bed by squeaky floorboards and that can get quite annoying. I will balance these observations by acknowledging the age of the hotel. Then don't big yourself up about being 5 start if frankly the building isn't albeit the staff are.

The Old Government House is an outstanding hotel with a competent manager. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful whether it is the front desk, housekeeping or F&B. The rooms are pleasant with lots of natural light. The garden is very nice with beautiful bushes and many private spaces. The food is good and the restaurant cozy. A really excellent establishment.

Can,t praise the Hotel enough, staff were all excellent ,couldn't do enough for us
My wife is in a wheelchair and the Hotel was well equipped to ease our way through it.
My only word of warning to anyone in a wheelchair going to Guernsey, the Island is not suitable for wheelchairs couldn't get to herm, or many attractions ,or Pubs,of course this not the Hotel fault, but the powers that be in Guernsey need to take a hard look at this situation in light of the aging population.

We stayed at this lovely hotel for a week a few days ago. We cannot fault the service and excellent care that we were given whilst there. Every one of the staff were so helpful and kind and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfasts were delicious as also the evening dining. The hotel is situated on a hill in a very convenient position for the town and harbour. Thank you OGH for a wonderful stay, we will most certainly be back.

This hotel goes to exceptional effort to live up to it's 5 star rating . The hotel staff were amazing & so friendly & helpful - faultless in all aspects! Andrew & Abigail deserve a special mention but I have to say that all the staff we encountered were all first class.
Our assigned room was beautiful & very comfortable with spectacular sea views. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone & should we visit Guernsey again we will stay here again.

We had the brasserie lunch and it was wonderful- the service was outstanding. It was my daughter’s birthday and she was treated like a princess! The staff - Alexandro in particular, but everyone was lovely- could not have done more for us.

The room (211) is definitely not an accessible room. Getting in to the room is difficult and getting out is a nightmare.
The bed is described as a Queen sized bed when in fact it is a standard double mattress. It is rather high of the floor and difficult to access as a result. The whole room vibrates for hours in the daytime and this makes it uncomfortable to rest. We love the hotel but the room is definitely not comfortable or accessible.

Hotel does not look much from the outside but once inside it is very luxurious, although on closer inspection there are areas that could do with a bit of tlc but that is probably just wear and tear. All the staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very small but I assume you get what you pay for. It had everything you needed, bed and pillows very comfy. The room we were in was at the back of the hotel and we got woken very early two of the three days we were there by bottles being loaded into what we can only imagine was a refuse collection vehicle or a skip? So perhaps don't get a room that side if you can avoid it. The location is good but be prepared to walk up the hill when returning to the hotel! We only had breakfast at the hotel which was excellent, and found some other nice restaurants to eat out in the town.

We chose this hotel to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and stayed a week based on the 5 star rating and the online reviews. We were NOT disappointed. The room, the bathroom with wonderful shower(s), the view were all great, but the real stars of the hotel are the staff. From our check-in with welcoming champagne to the check-out, the staff were engaging, exceptionally friendly and helpful, going out of their way to service our particular wishes. Special shout outs to Alessandro and Stewart for their kindnesses and assistance. Breakfasts in the Brasserie were especially wonderful with such a delightful setting - very “civilized” (my highest compliment!). We received a complimentary chocolate mousse cake and card from the hotel (Andrew?) congratulating us on our anniversary. All in all, they made our celebration very special and memorable. Thank you all at OGH!

Fantastic hotel with brilliant staff who are all friendly and caring. We specially like the curry Room, but the normal Brasserie is fine too. The Crown Coctail Bar makes a nice start to the evening. Turn-down service is a good touch, and ensures that towels are changed twice a day if needed. Very good location to get into town for shops and othe restaurants.

Perfect hotel. The staff can not do enough for you.
The breakfasts were vast and delicious. We ate in the restaurant most nights and it was the best steak I have ever tasted.
Kris at reception was an angel. Highly recommend the hotel organised trip to Cobo Bay.

We are just waiting for our pick up whilst sitting in the OGH lobby so thought I would write the review while still fresh in my mind.
We hotel is beautiful & the room we had was a king with a balcony with views over ST Peters port which was fabulous . We have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels & resorts but the staff at the OGH as the best we have come across, they are so helpful & attentive.

The food in the hotel was top notch also , we also ate out out some fabulous places.

We did have a couple of niggles but these were instantly dealt with by Kris on reception who is exceptional at his job.

We will definitely be returning👏

Absolutely top notch establishment. From the valet parking our car, to the subtle enquiry for the occasion that resulted in a surprise celebratory gourmet chocolate feast in our room, it was special and we were made to feel special. Kris, who runs reception and his engaging staff were just some names and people. The quietness of the heated pool, early morning spa to ourselves, turning down of beds and an incredible breakfast. And managing our check out whilst allowing us to remain as guests for our late afternoon flight. All in all, highly recommended and I would not stay anywhere else in Guernsey.

OGH as it is called in Guernsey was 5 star excellence. The staff from the Manager, Andrew downwards were all so kind, efficient, and helpful. We are a very elderly couple and were looked after and assisted with nothing too much trouble.
As well as the Manager arranging for a toileting aid to go in the bathroom, when I saw the new shower it was clear glass with no handles. We spoke to Andrew because I would not use it without a handle so two temporary ones were fitted. However they were not very successful so the next day the engineers fitted a proper chrome handle and Andrew was pleased that I had drawn this to his attention so he intends to put handles in all the new showers.

Decor of the restaurant - part conservatory was lovely and it was so nice to have tables by the window looking out to the gardens. Breakfast was a feast to behold so it was hard what to choose. Evening dinner was also nicely presented. Room service was exceptionaly good - a nice selection of sandwiches and a bottle of wine when England versus Spain was on and on our last night we had fish and chips with wine in a bucket in our room.

Quite possibly, in 50 years of travelling the world, this is the one place that makes us tick all the boxes. History and position apart, the room was exceptional and beautifully decorated, and the "bistro" area with its fresh green-and-white ambience mixed well with the colonial legacy evident elsewhere. But what made the visit so memorable was the truly genuine enthusiastic and helpful spirit of the staff. The team spirit is very obvious from the smiling faces. Congratulations to all of them, but in particular to Kris on the front desk for a spirited arrival greeting, to Roberto, and to Alessandro who looked after us in the dining area. Great job, everyone!

Our family of five had a fantastic stay at the Old Government House Hotel.
Chris at the reception made our visit truly special with his warm welcome and helpful recommendations.

The hotel is charming, blending historic charm with modern comfort. The suite was perfect our family and we enjoyed the seaview from our balcony .

The main restaurant was delicious, we recommend the breakfast with large choice.

Overall, OGH exceeded our expectations, thanks to the exceptional service from Chris and the entire staff. Highly recommended for families!

Perfect experience! All the staff is very attentive to make your stay unforgettable.
Special mention to Kris who welcomed us with great kindness and professionalism and to the chef who offers delicious and varied dishes combining beautifully traditional English cuisine and Indian flavors. The atmosphere of the Pension is a call to travel with a refined decoration. We warmly recommend this Pension which deserves its 5 stars for the professionalism and friendliness of all its staff. The room was splendid and spacious. All the necessary comfort is present. And the Pension is conveniently located in the heart of Saint Peter.

I booked online for a long weekend for my birthday. I never received a confirmation, so contacted the hotel and was assured my booking was on the system. Welcome was warm, with a lovely cold glass of fizz. Room wasn't ready but we had arrived super early. Mid-afternoon we checked in and had a lovely tour of the hotel. We viewed the Brassiere menu and didn't inspire so took advice from our taxi driver and ate all nights at his suggested restaurants in St Peter Port (Sorrento and Pier 17 amongst them). We had a variety of issues with our room, which I informed the staff about and they were resolved (mainly) immediately. I wrote to Andrew afterward highlighting the issues which I don't think one should encounter at a five-star establishment, and received a very nice response. We didn't indulge in the spa but did use the pool a couple of times, lovely clean towels and service around the pool.

So overall, a great stay . The staff make this hotel, they are all so welcoming and friendly.

Perfect long lunch! A group of six friends went for a long lunch yesterday. One couple were guests, otherwise we wouldn’t have discovered it. The food was fabulous. Especially the crab cakes and the avocado hummus starter, the fish of the day and the chocolate brownie dessert. We stayed so long chatting and drinking that we had sandwiches for supper as well. They were also all excellent. Extensive wine menu. The outstanding staff made it a very memorable occasion.
