What a superb end-to-end 5 day experience at OGH Hotel, St. Peter Port.
Amazing staff, everyone of them and plenty too, to look after us.
Great Queen room, great breakfast and dinner choices.
Afternoon tea was first class and more than plentiful.

We were treated like royalty and made to feel very special, not overly fussed over but just right; a friendly, knowledgable and very professional team.
Decor is sort of old colonial style and just fitting for this wonderful place, steeped in history.

It's not cheap, but we found it amazing and great quality.
You get what you pay for.

The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the harbour area and 15 minutes transfer from the airport - we used Island Coachways who were great, polite and prompt.

Buy a 'Puffin' bus card (£4 for the card) and top it up with rides at £1.15 each to go anywhere for that price, though if you want to go all round the island, break the journey along the way, get a coffee or lunch, then get back on otherwise you'll incur a £10 all-round non-stop cost.

Lots of lovely coastal walks easy to get to and from, on the excellent bus services.
We did the walk from Rousse Tower to Pembroke Bay - an easy walk, circa 4km, with bus stops at start and finish.
The Beach House cafe at Pembroke Bay did really nice soups.

The Tourist Information centre staff in St. Peter Port were really helpful.

Don't miss the Occupation Museum - a mere 10 minutes walk from the airport with regular bus services, just a 15-20 minute ride away.

We also really enjoyed Pier 17 (had lovely Brill and mixed fish ) and La Perla (had lovely bream and scallops) restaurants.

Our experience at The Old Government House Hotel was absolutely amazing. The hotel was really lovely and the staff were ‘second to none!’ Nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and helpful - would have to give a special ‘shout out’ to Pamela in the restaurant and Roberto ‘front of house’ . We had an afternoon tea and I am a coeliac - would have to say, the best gluten free afternoon tea I have ever had! 😁

Hooray - The sweetie jars have returned🤣 Thank you for bringing this lovely little luxury back after pandemic.

Normally stay in their sister hotel (Duke of Richmond) but second visit to The old Government House hotel. Both hotels are amazing with staff that can’t do enough for you. Rooms kept beautifully clean with added luxury of evening turn down service
Ideally situated to St Peter’s Port which is only short walk and all other attractions around the island.

Can’t recommend enough. Lovely hotel with lovely staff. Looking forward to our return visit already.

Excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble by the staff . Chris at the reception particularly was very welcoming , talked us through everything to do with our stay and just looked after our every need.
The room was well appointed and with stylish decor.
Fabulous breakfasts looking out over the sea.

Our thanks to all the wonderful staff who made our wedding anniversary so special. Very warm welcome from Kris and the outstanding service just continued - In our 20 + years of retirement and travelling extensively, this was the best hotel experience ever. The breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals were amazing, bed so comfortable and all the extras were a real bonus.

We had an exceptionally perfect stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff greated us like old friends by Chris. We were given sparkling wine on arrival (thank you Stewart) and upgraded to an opulent room facing the sea (room 138).
Stewart gave us loads of tips for Guernsey as it was our first visit.
Breakfast was served in a grand room with a lovely view also. My eggs Florentine may have been the best I've ever had. I can recommend the kedgeree too.
We booked a massage and afternoon tea for my birthday too. Everything was exceptional and we were delighted with some complimentary champagne as we were celebrating my birthday!!!
Each evening as they performed their turndown service, they left us a tasty treat e.g brownies and flapjacks.
We bumped into Chris in town off duty and he was just as friendly and welcoming to us.
If you stay at this hotel you won't be disappointed. It's absolutely beautiful. Like going back in time. Yet it has all the modern amenities. It's very central to the quaint town, bars and restaurants.
I'm sorry not to have remembered other staff names in the breakfast room and lounge but everyone was great. Whatever this hotel is doing to keep it's staff this happy. Please keep doing it
Thank you, thank you, thank you for an incredible experience and stay. We hope to see you all again soon!

Myself and my sister visited the SPA as not long ago she celebrated her Birthday and I have not been feeling well. We decided to treat ourselves with Full Body Hot Stone Massage.
We had a wonderful experience that started from the moment we made the booking. We were greeted and looked after by the gentleman at reception ( apologies I didn’t get your name). Service was very efficient and professional. Very friendly and helpful with an eye for detail.
And big thank you to both ladies ( massage therapists). You left us feeling renewed.
Thank you for all you effort and we definitely will be visiting the SPA again very soon.

This hotel is possibly one of try e best hotels we have ever stayed in. From start to finish the staff go the extra mile to ensure the perfect stay. The reception we received was exemplary. The rooms are top notch. The food is fantastic especially the afternoon tea and the curry room.

Our 4 day break at the OGH was perfect - the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning was the highlight, so many choices and beautifully presented. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the meal was superb and unhurried; my son was presented with a special dessert as they found out it was his birthday - a lovely touch and much appreciated. We also had afternoon tea which was delicious. The gym and spa facilities are very good, my son used the gym a couple of times and we used the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna and were lucky enough to have it to ourselves. The rooms are very comfortable with complimentary water every day and a choice of pillows to suit everyone.
We had a lovely family break and would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for something a bit special.

Our stay at the ogh was excellent! Our room was great with fantastic views over the harbour.
We found a bottle of bubbly and a cake in the room to mark our celebration! The food was wonderful, endless choices at breakfast! The atmosphere in the hotel was calm and peaceful. Special thanks to all the staff who were very friendly and pleasant. A big shout out to kris who went out of his way to make our stay especially enjoyable.

This is a fine hotel in the classical sense. The decor is traditional and comfortable with a layout that has evolved not planned. We only ate dinner in the restaurant once during our stay, the food was beautifully prepared and presented. The cold duck parfait starter was disappointing but the main courses excellent. Sadly the restaurant was empty so lacked atmosphere but it was February and we were staying on a special offer deal. The bedroom was a queen room cozily furnished with a super king bed and walk-in rain shower in the en-suite that was easy to operate and worked perfectly. No sea view, but we did not expect one at the price paid. The breakfasts are very good with a buffet and menu choice, the coffee is ‘hotel coffee’. All the staff in reception, bar, restaurant and chamber are lovely and professional in what they do. Definitely stay again when we can get back to this super island.

First time in Guernsey. Like time travelling to a world where there was no litter no graffiti no potholes no grumpy people, and hotels like the OGH existed.

What a beautiful hotel. The interior suitably old-fashioned, but stylish and lovingly maintained. Cosy lounge, with a fire.
Our room was comfortable, huge bed. A thoughtful touch is that the television sound cannot be turned up too high, so no noise from next door.
Some rooms have a bath.
Room 220 is particularly good if you want to be away from occasional street noise, and has a view of the harbour, but no bath.

The staff... what can one say. What a nice bunch of friendly, highly professional people, not least the GM who is very visible and doesn't need a GM badge to keep things ticking along.

The breakfast buffet is both decorative and dangerous. Take an elastic belt! Dinner, we ate in every evening and were never disappointed, both in the bistro and the curry room where this curry newbie enjoyed a mild but very tasty meal.
Unlike some restaurants where the emphasis is on presentation, here one has both the presentation and the quantity. Take an elastic belt! Oh, I already said that.

It was our 50th wedding anniversary. We were made to feel quite special, culminating in a surprise celebration cake one evening.

All in all, hard to imagine a better holiday or a better place to stay.

The staff went the extra mile with a glass of fizz on check-in. Then we were upgraded to a sea view room and when we had an additional request nothing was too much trouble. Lovely cocktails in the bar and the breakfast was fab too. Friendly service by ever member of their team.

I liked that on the video welcome it said; "come as a guest, leave as a friend, return as family." But actually I was greeted as family and nothing was too much for anyone in the hotel. Shout-outs to Kris, Roberto, Thanusha, Siya, Devon, Jose, Mario, Christina and Fatima.... and heck, I may be biased but Abigail is also great!
I liked my room, as with Guernsey in general you do feel that you are going back in time but the bed was very comfortable and if something wasn't in the room, you could always ask for it. All the food was delicious and everywhere was warm and cosy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can heartily recommend the hotel.

We had booked to stay for 4 nights at the Duke of Normandy, where we were attending a New Years Eve event. We were contacted a few days before, explaining they would be closing the day after the event, so they had upgraded us to their sister hotel the OGH.

They had arranged everything for us. We had a beautiful room with a balcony as we had 2 small dogs. They were provided with beds and bowls and were treated like VIPs.

On the evening of the event at the D of N, we were transported to and from the event by the OGH. The D of N had also prepared a suite where our dogs could stay during the evening so we could check on them.

All staff at both hotels were amazing. The rooms were beautiful and attention was paid to the smallest of details. I could not recommend them more.

We look forward to returning in the summer for a dip in the pool.

My husband, our dog and I decided to spend Christmas away this year.
We have been to Guernsey before and always loved it. We had not stayed at The Old Government House before, however.
It was an excellent choice. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. The staff go out of their way to make their guests feel special. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the season, and we had the best curry ever in the Governors Room
We very much look forward to returning.

Such a lovely hotel with very pleasant staff. On arrival at the hotel we were made to feel so welcome, with a welcome drink. The rooms were of a good size and comfortable. Prior to our stay we completed a pre arrival form and all requests were met. We had to extend our visit due to storm Bert, this was arranged with little effort by reception. Hope to be able to visit again in the near future.

I stayed at the hotel on a recent business trip. What a beautiful hotel, well situated with friendly and helpful staff who do their utmost to make your stay memorable. Just to mention Owethu at the reception desk was an absolute delight upon arrival.
She was friendly, engaging, very helpful and efficient. The first impression of her was her genuine, larger than life smile which was absolutely priceless. I will definitely be back!

I wanted to take the time to confirm that our recent stay at OGH, certainly exceeded our expectations. We were originally booked to stay at the Duke of Richmond and were advised, that we had been moved to OGH as they were undertaking reburbishments. We stayed at OGH for our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago and that stay was great.
This time we travelled with my daughter and her boyfriend and it was his first visit to Guernsey. From us entering and being offered a glass of fizz, the service has been exemplary. Particularly Stuart, always with a bit of information on where to visit. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to sea view King rooms. As part of the package we undertook a cocktail masterclass. We were taught by David, his wife (apologies but I did not get her name) and Jeffrey. This class was amazing and I would certainly consider booking a follow up as they advised, not something I would have originally thought of. We will be using the skills and information we learned at home. The samples were plentiful, with canapés also. The choice of breakfast is lovely and all of our meals used top notch produce. I used the gym briefly and can confirm there being a lot of choice in equipment. I also had a treatment in the spa, which again is a lovely setting. The location of the hotel is so convenient, being only just off the main shopping area, however it is uphill coming back, but then that is Guernsey.
I did not take the names of all the staff, but everyone from the person servicing our room, reception, concierge and restaurant staff, were fantastic and made us all feel very special.
I had already been recommending OGH to friends and colleagues, but now even more so.
