We got married here and ourselves and some relatives stayed here too. Genuinely everything was perfect, they went out of their way to do anything and be helpful, seamless friendly service and the food and drink was exquisite. Cannot recommend enough.

We got married here in the summer and ourselves and relatives stayed here too. Perfect choice couldn’t fault a thing, the staff were friendly and ran a seamless service nothing was too much to ask, the food and drink were great too and lots of choice. Located at the top of town so the views are lovely of the harbour and islands. Would definitely recommend.

We went for a 4 night stay as a special treat. The staff throughout were lovely but having booked a sea view room with balcony , I rejected it as the double glazing had blown and one could not see out, there was rubbish on the floor, the silk wall covering was torn in some places and faded in others and the mirrors were covered with smears. We were offered another smaller darker room with no shower which I rejected and finally offered a small suite which we accepted after refusing to pay extra. Housekeeping was totally chaotic, all the hotel’s room keys were left on a sofa one day, cups were not washed up, toiletries replaced some days but not others. Breakfast was good although not with an extensive choice and some
items were persistently unavailable despite remaining on the menu. Not what I would have expected from a five star hotel. Not good value for money as it is very expensive.

We stayed for 3 nights, the welcome was warm, our room was lovely, the spa facilities were good, food was fantastic, but the restaurant staff were not 5 star, we had no booking for our 1st night dinner, but this was quickly sorted, the staff member commented that guests do not want to sit in the restaurant booths, this was made very obvious as we were completely forgotten twice during our stay. To say we are disappointed is an understatement, if we stay again, I hope you have this issue sorted OGH.

My husband and I spent the week of our 12 wedding anniversary at the OGH St Peter Port, and we were delighted with the hotel location. It was all lovely from beginning to end. Faultless. We had such a wonderful time on our first ever trip to Guernsey, Herm and Sark, and what made it so nice was having our homely base in St Peter Port at this wonderful hotel. The staff are all so very kind and helpful and friendly. I want to name names but there were so many good staff that I am concerned I will forget someone. Thank you all OGH - I hope you get to read this. We came for a week from Norwich Airport and will never forget you all. We hope to come again one day. Your hotel is so nicely furnished and I loved the art work on the walls. The building is really grand - yet cosy - and characterful. Thank you Kitchen Staff - all of you for the delicious and well presented food. But above all, thank you for making us feel so welcome every single moment we were there. I had never heard of Red Carnation Group but will certainly now be looking them up for another visit. We loved your beautiful island and we are so glad to have met you all. A and D. Xx

This hotel, quite rightly, has an excellent reputation. From the moment we arrived our stay was faultless and nothing was too much trouble, with guests made to feel at home from the moment they walk through the door.

We just had a basic room which, although quite small, was beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable with everything you would expect from a 5* hotel. We particularly liked the 'proper' teapot and 'proper' French press. Bathrobes and slippers provided. Bathroon was well-stocked. Everything was exceptionally clean.

Excellent facilites at the hotel - it was nice after a day out to just sit by the pool/go for a swim.

Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice with a continental buffet and then ordering hot food individually. service immaculate. The hotel has several restaurants and also offers a traditional 'afternoon tea'.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever visited. We spent a night here 30 years ago on business and always said we would return for leisure one day.
It came up to all expectations, courteous and attentive staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts could be taken in the garden and offered an extensive breakfast menu. The pool was heated to a comfortable 28c, and Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were available free for residents and well appointed.
The hotel is situated conveniently close to the harbour with restaurents and shops nearby.
A perfect stay.

As we would expect of a red carnation hotel we were given a warm welcome and our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and standards are high although some investment is needed to keep the outside areas 5 star. The food is excellent and it was a pleasure to enjoy the breakfast buffet after they have been missing from English hotels for nearly 2 years. Although drink prices are high the food prices are very reasonable for such excellent quality. We enjoyed the pool as the weather was warm although the sun beds are not comfortable enough for a 5 start hotel. Service was a bit hit and miss because of staff shortages and many looked tired and stressed but as ever they smiled and tried to ensure we were well looked after. We would be happy to return and loved Guernsey for its beautiful walks. A thank you to all the staff who stayed cheerful and helped to make our stay so enjoyable.

We absolutely loved our weekend in St Peter Port, and the OGH was perfect! From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel extremely welcome. The building is beautiful and the staff are amazing. So many whose names I can’t recall but who were wonderful and made our stay so special (although Alessandro was particularly fantastic, and Roberto & Renato). Room was small but beautifully decorated with wonderful fittings and details - the most comfortable bed with gorgeous linen; it was a real treat to stay here. The restaurant was lovely & we had two fabulous evening meals with god wine and excellent service; breakfasts wonderful, sat outside on the terrace with a view out over the sea. Perfect location, just a 5 minute stroll down to the old town centre and the port area. First class luxury. We’ll be back next year for another break!

We have stayed at this hotel previously and were glad this time of a five-night break in lovely autumn sunshine. It is an elegant building, well maintained and very comfortable. The walls in the public rooms are adorned with a huge array of fine artwork. The gym/spa was good, although the facility closed early at weekends, and there is a heated outdoor pool with loungers and plenty of fresh towels on the paved area around the pool. Our room was 'bijou' but very well equipped and with a fabulously-comfortable six-foot bed. Dining was very good - we ate dinner in the hotel twice and enjoyed amazing breakfasts each morning with everything cooked to order. We were able to take breakfast outside on the terrace on some occasions. Service was clearly under some pressure because of Covid and staff vacancies, but it did not in any way become an issue for us and we were looked after very well. The head waiter, Allesandro, deserves a special mention for his professionalism. There is a cosy bar which was great for nightcaps. We did find it strange, however, that a 'Hooray Henry' guest who was aware that drinks were, quite rightly, not served in glass around the pool persuaded staff to serve him and his partner poolside drinks in glasses, and then later boasted about his ability to get round the rules. That rule is there for a very good reason and should not be breached.

We have stayed in various hotels on the island over the years and looked forward to our stay at the OGH, self reportedly the best hotel on the Island and 5 star to boot.

There was no doubt the impact of COVID had taken it’s toll on the OGH, the staff were tired and adjustments had to be made for the staff shortages they were experiencing. The staff on the ground couldn’t be faulted for their effort, but the experience was far from 5 star, there was a lack of management, in fact I didn’t see or speak to the Manager all week, staff went about their business without adequate direction and didn’t appear to have the level of training you would expect at a 5 star hotel to truly deliver the service you expect and see at other top hotels. Dirty plates were left throughout the hotel for hours, be it the pool area or room service in the corridors. A far cry from the claims made on their website.

The rooms were adequate, but lacked clean lines and warmth. We asked to be moved from our first room as it was so dowdy. We had booked a balcony room, which was a complete disappointment, it isn’t advertised as such, but the vast majority of the balconies are enclosed, with a part sliding window, they have decking on the floor and were so unwelcoming we spent no time at all using it. The website shows the proper balconies, of which there can be no more than 4, so the chances of getting one is not high – a bit more honesty OGH!

The food in the brasserie was average at best, a limited selection and even poorer selection of wines. If there was a full wine list we were never offered it, again given how it was promoted it was big disappointment, we planned to eat their at least twice, but didn’t bother after the first visit.

Location was great, with easy access to the port; town and many other restaurants.

If COVID presented a real opportunity for hotels such as the OGH to showcase what they can do, Red Carnation have missed that opportunity by some distance.

For a 6 night stay in Guernsey, this was the epitome of what I would expect from a 5* hotel.
From the outset, the greeting with champagne was super start to what was to become a fantastic break.
I would like to make special mention of some staff who, in my view went above an beyond for me.
Alessandro, Restaurant Manager was the stalwart of professionalism and service. Always ready to help and ensure the experience was first rate. Nothing was ever too much or too difficult. Honestly, I would love to have Alessandro fronting any of my businesses.
Colin the gardener was extremely knowledgeable about the island and was always happy to have a chat and offer advice on the best places and the best times to visit attractions. As a local Islander, he was full of experiences to share and made my holiday even more enjoyable.
Jonathan in the restaurant was also one of those for whom service came as second nature. Again, great to chat to and was ever helpful but not over attentive - he managed to hit the right balance every time.
The room was luxurious enough and the 'Turn Down' service excellent.
Truly a place to visit again and again.
I am sure we have not seen the last of the OGH.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to all!

Ok, let me say first that the service at the OGH is truly five star, they absolutely take care of you at every turn from check in to check out. In fact, if you’re used to looking after yourself as I am, it’s a little too much - if you tell me my room number, I’m perfectly happy to walk there without waiting for help! The food is also superb, the breakfast in particular. However, if you are staying in one of the “classic” (standard) rooms, well, I can honestly say I’ve had better, and certainly larger rooms in 3 and 4 star hotels. My room was tiny - barely room to squeeze around the bed. It was all spotlessly clean of course, and the bathroom was stylish, but I would expected squeezy soap and shampoo dispensers in a five star hotel.

However - in the room were the most gorgeous dressing gowns! I was considering “borrowing” one but I was travelling with hand luggage only, and one of those thick Terry towelling beauties would never have fitted in my bag. I would forgive much to be the proud owner of such a fine garment!

Led by ,Roberto, " Rocky Marciano" and Alexandross , the young waiters and waitresses did a great job. The Brassierie food was excellent with a varied menu and different fish daily. My family ( husband and my 2 daughters , 11 and 21) and I have just returned from a wonderful 5 night stay. During our stay we felt that nothing was too much trouble - all of the staff were considered and professional and always happy to provide advice and support; be that arranging trips to Sark, through to queries about food and cocktails !
The hotel itself is elegantly decorated and the external areas are equally lovely ; with the outdoor pool limited to hotel guests and surrounded by careful planting that provides a discreet relaxing space .
Finally the breakfast was extensive in range and offer and absolutely delicious !
I do hope to return soon

Oh my.... What can I say..... I love this hotel and I am so glad we booked this for our trip to Guernsey 🇬🇬. Staff were excellent, top-notch service. Shout out to Jaro and Roberto, super helpful and friendly since day 1. It is a pity we did not get to say goodbye to Jaro before leaving as he has been nothing but a great help in booking some of our activities for us. Thank you so much to the staff again and it just makes me want to go back Guernsey even more. It helps if you pay just a little extra for accommodations and you get extra miles from staff that makes your trip ten times better :-) Room was small but cosy and clean!! Just impeccable, 100/100 would recommend to everyone.

Back at the OGH again after a break of 4 years, having first stayed 30 years ago with a babe in arms..who has also since returned!
Returned many times since...it is just a fabulous place to stay..staff are sensational-led by Andrew C as General Manager - always smiling and can never do enough for you. Facilities, food and location are fantastic and stress oozes out of you when you cross the threshold and are greeted like an old friend. A real home from home.
We will be back in September!

OGH is a magnificent hotel with beautiful views overlooking the harbour and Herm in the distance. OGH has such interesting furniture, artwork and works of art.
The swimming pool and spa are such a bonus.
OGH has an extremely dedicated staff and nothing is too much to please visitors - our fourth visit and it is so good to see so many familiar faces.
The restaurant provides superb food, we have never been more than 100% satisfied.
Even after a horrendous period of close down due to the pandemic, the standards remain as high as they always have been.
Needless to add we look forward to returning to this absolute gem of a hotel. Thank you Andrew Chantrell and the team for again making us feel so welcome.

We stayed at the OGH for 7 nights and had a great time.

Facilities are always clean and of the highest standard.

Jaro and Ula took great care of us with excellent recommendations on things to do in Guernsey and surrounding islands.

Reception staff including Concierge, thank you for your recommendations and for keeping our car safe.
Bar staff, thanks for your service. The complementary hot chocolate on return from a very wet day in Sark was a very thoughtful and kind gesture.

Restaurant staff were very attentive and eager to please. We have food allergies and we were very well looked after. The Brasserie, the curry room and breakfast are great and all cater for dietary requirements.

Roberto thank you for your positive attitude, great service and sense of humour.

Breakfast team, great service and delicious breakfast. Loved all the fruit, cold meats and generous breakfast menu.

Also, big thank you to house keeping for always keeping our room and bathroom so clean and for the turn down service. Housekeeping are often overlooked but without chambermaids keeping premises and rooms clean, there simply wouldn’t be a hotel.

Thank you all!

We can’t wait to return soon.

Guernsey is a hidden gem, and the hotel location is fantastic, right in the heart of St Peter Port. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food is superb - one of the best places to dine in Guernsey. But what makes the hotel extra special are its people - too many to mention but a big thank you to Jack, George, Alessandro, Carl. Everyone who looked after us in the restaurant and bars and the housekeeping team are always smiling and caring for their customers. We’ve already booked our next trip, thank you.
