Having just returned from a wonderful week at The old Government House Hotel .We very much like everything about the hotel facilities very comfortable room with great choice of teas coffees and more ...our room was overlooking the sea. The Brasserie provided superb food and great atmosphere the staff could'nt do no more to make our stay most enjoyable during the whole stay. The Hotel is well located a short distance from the sea front. Will certainly return to this charming hotel.

Have just returned from a week at The Old Government House Hotel. A beautiful and charming hotel situated just a few minutes walk from the seafront in St Peter Port. Our Queen room was very smart, equipped with everything you could want and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was lovely with a never ending supply of luxurious toiletries.

Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive, remembering names and preferences, etc. Our hire car was spirited away on our return each day and returned to us within minutes whenever required.

The food was excellent - breakfast was a particularly delightful experience with an extensive choice (smoked salmon eggs Benedict a particular favourite!)

The spa has a sauna, steam room and two jacuzzis as well as a wonderful relaxation room.

I could go on for ages but suffice to say would not hesitate in recommending the OGH to anyone visiting Guernsey! Many thanks - will definitely return soon.

Just back to Australia after a trip including four nights at the OGH. My adult daughter and I were lucky enough to have the Herm Suite (pictured) and what a treat that was. It was spacious and comfortable, extremely quiet, and we felt very much "at home". We also enjoyed the view from the balcony, the attentive and friendly (yet unobtrusive) service, and a delicious dinner in the Curry Room. Breakfast each day was delightful and the Olive Grove was the perfect spot to relax in the sun...yes, there was sun!....with a book. We even hurried back from the Sark ferry one afternoon so we wouldn't miss afternoon tea. All in all a wonderful visit and if ever I'm passing that way again, I will certainly return to this grand old lady of Guernsey. It really is like coming home.
One small thought for management: due to varying winds, it might be an idea to put a little latch on the balcony door so one can close it from the outside as well. [I am a smoker so I wanted to make sure the door stayed closed while I was out on the balcony.] Apart from that, it's praise all the way.

This hotel have great staff, nothing is to much trouble.Excellent brasserie, great choice of food and wine. They also have a resident pianist who plays Sunday lunch and during dinner several nights. If you have a special occasion room 111 is very spacious also have a look at the suites . Due to the bad weather in the channel we stayed for extra couple of nights. The staff were so obliging as our luggage was all ready to leave.Where else would you want to be the OGH it offers the best of everything .Can't Waite to visit again.

Booked hotel as part of a romantic break and decided to hire a car for the weekend instead of taxis from and to the hotel. Worked out much cheaper, not to mention the lack of taxis on the island make getting from a to b a bit hit and miss. The hotel was reasonably easy to find. Hint: park outside the hotel in the loading bay and concierge will happily take your car to their barriered car park.
We decided not to upgrade our room, settling for the 'classic' room. A little on the small side, but very comfortable and a good quality mattress. The staff throughout our stay were friendly and genuinely helpful, with none of the snobbery you often find in good quality hotels.
An excellent breakfast choice of cold meats, through to a full English. My fiancée had eggs benedict, and were truly exceptional.
Overall, an excellent choice whilst staying on this beautiful island. If staying for a longer period you might want to upgrade to a larger room though.

The Old Government House Hotel is full of old fashioned charm and excellent service. The rooms are lovely in period style furniture newly refurbished and immaculate. The bathrooms are wonderful with new fixtures including a separate shower and tub. The standard room is a bit small, but for a short stay is adequate. For anything longer, I recommend upgrading to a larger room. The Brasserie restaurant is light and cheerful, overlooking the gardens and sea in the distance. Our dinner there was delicious, and the breakfasts were delightful English style with all the trimmings. We had a wonderful stay here and would certainly return if we get back to Guernsey.

What a pleasure to stay at this delightful hotel: old world charm and service sadly lacking in most "modern" hotels of today. Sumptious decor in both public and private areas: our 'King' room was just right and bathroom well furnished. We dined in both Governer's (what a beautiful room), and the Brasserie - great food, perfect for any occasion, again with perfect service. We just don't know why we haven't found OGH before (the complimentary bottle of 'bubbles' for our anniversary helped too), but, when I became unwell on the last day the guys excelled themselves right down to the ''hot toddy' - thank you! All in all, a great stay: we are eagerly anticipating our next visit.

I had the pleasure to be hosted in this hotel for few months in a long term business trip. I can only say it is perfect in term of facilities and services with the professionality of the staff being an authentic value added. I was comfortable as if i would be in my own house and even more. Highly recommended.

Location ideal for the centre of St Peter Port with bonus of car parking, which is valet operation and works very well. Staff all excellent with just the right degree of friendliness. Hotel packed with old world charm and public rooms a delight to be in. Classic double room compact but extremely comfortable and well equipped. Although room charges high felt the dinner menu prices could be a little more competitive for guests?

We stayed for our wedding night/honeymoon. The hotel was beautiful, we had a sea view king room with a balcony overlooking St Peter Port. On arrival, the staff had left us some champagne and put rose petals on the bed - this was really thoughtful of them!
We had a fantastic stay, the staff were always attentive, thoughtful and helpful. We made use of the spa and swimming pool. Both of these were well maintained and added to the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel.
Thankyou to everyone at the OGH for a wonderful stay. We felt very well looked after and will definitely be back!

I chose the OGH after reading many reviews here on Tripadvisor and overall the hotel did not disappoint. The location cannot be beaten for seeing the sights of Guernsey. Staff were lovely right from check in to check out, accomodation is of a good standard (wouldn't have minded a proper mirror in the bedroom though), requests were catered for, food and drink were of a high standard. My only slight gripe and why I have not given it five out of five is that there was building work on going during our stay. We could not hear it from any part of the hotel, except the braserrie during breakfast which is the last thing you want to hear first thing in the morning.

We stayed 5 nights at OGH. Extremely helpful staff at all levels of service. Room 327 spacious and clean with luxury bedding, chairs, sofa , tv with Sky sports, desk, free wi-Fi throughout the hotel, Internet room for getting those boarding passes printed. Food excellent, from breakfast to dinner. Car was parked by concierge and brought round when needed. Tickets for island hopping organised. Garden charming and we managed to sit out a few times as we were lucky with the weather. Didn't brave the pool but saw comfortable sun beds and towels etc placed out just in case!

Exceptional service from all the staff; beautifully furnished bedrooms and decorations generally. Good selection of food and shellfish. Well situated for walking in and around the town. Lovely garden and pool and a spa for an added touch of luxury! An excellent choice for a long weekend.

Stayed here for the bank holiday and a wedding. The room was very small and to use the tea facilities within the room we had to put the kettle on the floor by the plug. The room service was fantastic our room was made up each morning by the time we got back from breakfast but breakfast services was extremally and painfully slow and in the evening the beds were turned down and the room tidy, But this is a huge but there was no hot water in the shower we had to have baths and the morning we left we had to go without a shower as there was no time for a bath.
The afternoon tea was amazing could not fault it in anyway.
We were vry disappointed that it was not really equipt for disabled people.
Staff there were very polite but on times the service did faulter one minute their all there to help then all of a sudden no one was around.
The food at breakfast was not 5* standard the full english was covered in grease to the point you had puddles of grease on your plate the poached eggs were not fully cooked you still had see though whites and the eggs benedict was nice but lacked seasoning and ham was drying out around the edges it was more 3* very very disappointed.
I would not waste my money and stay here again.

Just had a long weekend and apart from our room which was decorated very nice but a little small. ( had to move a chair each time to get around the bed) the staff are extremely pleasant especially in the restaurant. The food is excellent and suggest you book an afternoon tea. Highly recommended and I will be back, although a different room. I found the car parked and brought back for me to the main entrance when needed very convenient.

We booked the OGH for a wedding anniversary treat and it didn't disappoint in fact it excelled our expectations. The hotel has a special feel and is beautifully decorated. By far the best asset though are the staff. Ann on the reception was very helpful and let me choose from three king seaview rooms. We choose room 109 with stunning views of St. Peter port, herm and sark. The afternoon tea, breakfast and dining in the curry room was Very good. A great location for strolling into town. We hired bikes which were delivered to the hotel and stored there by staff - nothing seemed a problem to arrange. They spoilt us with champagne, petals and chocolates . The weather was fabulous so St. Peter Port looked great with all the bunting up ready for Independence Day on the 9th May. We didn't want to leave believe me after a blissful 3 days.

Really great staff, an excellent restaurant (though we didn't try the Indian restaurant), wonderful breakfast, fabulous position. But I think our room was just a little small for a 5 star hotel. But all in all, go for it....

Apart from one unacceptable room (311) which our friends were put into, the hotel is beautiful. Exquisitely and tastefully furnished with excellent taste. However the staff handled the issue of the awful room very badly so that our overall impression was seriously downgraded.

Visited Guernsey for a day but was unexpectedly fogged in so stayed for one night at this historic and very luxurious hotel. Staff professional. Room and bathroom spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately didn't have time to use the spa which was a shame. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a wonderful truly luxurious few days at OGH The hotel is truly 5*in every way, the food is excellent, the rooms unique in every way and the attention you receive from all the staff is first class. Everyone lives up to the Red Carnation moto no request to small. Only one small watch out is that St Peters Port is quite hilly therefore you need to be able to get around otherwise it will be taxis' s all the way. Ogh and Guernsey great place to visit.
