Just had a long weekend and apart from our room which was decorated very nice but a little small. ( had to move a chair each time to get around the bed) the staff are extremely pleasant especially in the restaurant. The food is excellent and suggest you book an afternoon tea. Highly recommended and I will be back, although a different room. I found the car parked and brought back for me to the main entrance when needed very convenient.

We booked the OGH for a wedding anniversary treat and it didn't disappoint in fact it excelled our expectations. The hotel has a special feel and is beautifully decorated. By far the best asset though are the staff. Ann on the reception was very helpful and let me choose from three king seaview rooms. We choose room 109 with stunning views of St. Peter port, herm and sark. The afternoon tea, breakfast and dining in the curry room was Very good. A great location for strolling into town. We hired bikes which were delivered to the hotel and stored there by staff - nothing seemed a problem to arrange. They spoilt us with champagne, petals and chocolates . The weather was fabulous so St. Peter Port looked great with all the bunting up ready for Independence Day on the 9th May. We didn't want to leave believe me after a blissful 3 days.

Really great staff, an excellent restaurant (though we didn't try the Indian restaurant), wonderful breakfast, fabulous position. But I think our room was just a little small for a 5 star hotel. But all in all, go for it....

Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. The staff could not be more helpful or polite, the room was very comfortable with everything we needed and the food was wonderful. the whole experience of the wedding reception was also fabulous. Thank you for a great weekend.

Apart from one unacceptable room (311) which our friends were put into, the hotel is beautiful. Exquisitely and tastefully furnished with excellent taste. However the staff handled the issue of the awful room very badly so that our overall impression was seriously downgraded.

5 star hotel should be 6. If you want a holiday staying in a beautiful hotel this is the one to choose. Rooms beautiful, staff amazing wish our flight had been cancelled so we could stay longer nothing was too much trouble everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely relaxing break

Visited Guernsey for a day but was unexpectedly fogged in so stayed for one night at this historic and very luxurious hotel. Staff professional. Room and bathroom spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately didn't have time to use the spa which was a shame. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a wonderful truly luxurious few days at OGH The hotel is truly 5*in every way, the food is excellent, the rooms unique in every way and the attention you receive from all the staff is first class. Everyone lives up to the Red Carnation moto no request to small. Only one small watch out is that St Peters Port is quite hilly therefore you need to be able to get around otherwise it will be taxis' s all the way. Ogh and Guernsey great place to visit.

I have stayed here on more than one occasion & have found attention to detail lacking on more than one occasion. I think guests should be offered refreshment on arrival..many will have travelled some distance to get here. My request for champagne to be delivered to the room was not honoured despite it being ordered several days in advance and finally, the requests made on the hotel pre arrival form were overlooked.

Our annual visit this year was much earlier in the year than normal(march rather than september)and did not disappoint.apart from the usual immediate friendly welcome from the staff(old and new friends)the highlight had to be the newly introduced FIVE DAYS OF FLAMBE which has been introduced to The Brasserie restaurant.featuring a different course each night wednesday to sunday, cooked to order in the centre of the restaurant.having watched and been entertained by this fantastic feature, needless to say the anticipation and aromas eminating left us drooling.our empty plates once eaten were testiment to the quality and cooking technique of all involved.

Just returned from OGH. Worth all of it's 5 stars without being ostentatious. Staff so very helpful, especially with my father who has mobility issues. The hotel even arranged a mobility scooter ready for his arrival. The rooms were beautiful. We were in a studio suite which was very spacious and very glamourously decorated. The bathroom was huge! We had views over towards Candie Gardens. My parents were in the Centenary Suite (house suite). This again was beautifully decorated and huge, it had fantastic sea views over the Port. The hotel was only a 2 minute walk to the High Street shops and 5 minutes to the harbour. We ate in both restaurants which were very different. The Brasserie food was more traditional, very good though, service was brilliant. The Curry House was very colonial, wonderfully decorated. All of us agreed it was the best curry we had ever eaten, well worth the money. We all had an afternoon tea which was expensive but beautifully presented and very tasty in a sumptuously decorated lounge. My son used the gym which was good. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we had a good deal with 3 nights for the price of 2.

We have just returned home having spent four nights at the OGH. Wonderful from the start and the staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be returning. Very handy for the town as just a short 2 minute walk.....downhill! We had a wonderful view of the port from our room which is featured up above. The most comfortable bed in the world and we wanted to take the bathroom home with us. Would highly recommend this hotel and worth paying that little bit extra. Missed out on afternoon tea and the Indian restaurant so will have to return soon.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome when visiting the OGH in St Peter Port. An absolutely beautiful luxury 5 star hotel with wonderful staff and attention to detail. Nothing is ever too much trouble and whether it is just a quick drink at the bar, a meal in a choice of restaurants, or an overnight stay you will be spoilt from the moment you enter the building. It is an experience not to be missed - although a bit on the higher price side of things - always a pleasure to frequent. Their Curry nights are very interesting and the service is impeccable.

I came here for my 14th birthday party which included a night in 3 suites with 8 of my friends and my parents, along with afternoon tea, dinner, breakfast, and full use of the spa and massages. What an amazing experience with wonderful staff and a fabulous night sleep.

Would recommend however this is costly, but well worth it because the service is impeccable. This deserves to be no.1 on trip advisor especially as it is the first, and only ever 5 star hotel on guernsey.

We have just returned from spending Easter at the Old Government House Hotel and Spa.

Without exception, all the staff went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel very special.

Our room, with a sea view was lovely.

The meals we had in the brasserie were delicious and the service excellent.

We finished off our stay by having afternoon tea in the lounge. This was a perfect ending to a wonderful stay and we hope very much to return soon

Many thanks to all at the OGH who made our recent stay with them one to remember. We have just returned from a few days away with some friends to celebrate two birthdays and all of us agreed that, although the bedrooms were a little small, the staff were brilliant and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. What made the stay even more special was the delivery of cards and cakes on the appropriate days. Most unexpected but very thoughtful. The public rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious with a large selection available. We will definitely return to the OGH when we next visit to Guernsey.

Huge thanks to all at the OGH for making a visit to celebrate two birthdays - that of my husband and his best friend which are a day apart - so special. The service at the hotel is clearly exemplary as a matter of course but it was ramped up even further for the birthday boys with the delivery of two lovely cakes and cards on the requisite days. A lovely touch which was much appreciated by us all. We cannot recommend the hotel highly enough - the public rooms are lovely, our bedrooms were small but perfectly formed and the breakfasts were wonderful. The very special icing on the cake however, and the reason for our excellent rating, is the staff. Everyone we came into contact with was warm, friendly and could not have done more for us. Special mention must go to PJ for looking after us so well and Dominika on reception who started our visit so well with a lovely tour and huge smile. Make a point of visiting the Spa as well. My massage from Anneka was one of the nicest I've ever had and the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon sheltering from the rain by enjoying all the facilities. All in all, a great break and we will definitely be back next time we come to the island.

We stayed for 4 nights (should have been 6 but flights cancelled due to snow) at the Old Government House Hotel. Had a lovely room with a sea view over St Peter Port to see Herm and Sark in the distance. The staff were excellent, they couldn't do enough for us. We ate one lovely evening meal in the Brasserie and also one in the Governors Restaurant, which server Indian food. Both meals were really good and the service again was excellent.

Breakfast is great in the Brasserie with views out over St Peter Port. The food was well prepared and promptly served.

We also had some treatments in the Spa that is well designed beneath the hotel. There is a good sized gym but only an outdoor pool that is not open this time of year. There are two jacuzzi's and both sauna and steam rooms.

It is only a short walk down hill to get to the town centre where ther are many restaurants. We had a great meal at Le Nautique Restaurant (down the steps next to Boots then turn right), as recommended by someone in the hotel. This had great food and a view out over the harbour.

Luckily we had really good weather for March but the hotel does keep a stock of umbrellas that you can borrow if walking into town.

Overall a really great hotel, probably one of the best in St Peter Port.

We actually had booked a Classic room which we found to be too small as the only space to walk in the room was around the 3 sides of a very big high bed with 3-4 feet of space. The bed was too big for that room. The room did not have a safe nor a mini fridge. I thought it was overrated to call it a Classic room and it felt very claustophobic. I asked if we could have a bigger room. The reception immediately gave us a complimentary upgrade and the new room was very comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful, very accomodating, we were treated very well and they made sure we were happy staying there. The food in the Brasserie was delicious. I don't usually eat at Indian restaurants (as I am good at cooking Indian food myself) but I have to say the food in the Curry Room was one of the BEST Indian food that we have had. We will definitely stay there again and hopefully book a slightly spacious room. Everyone working there had big smiles and were very attentive.

We had two rooms with an adjoining hall as we took two children. It was all very safe and the children felt really comfortable. The rooms were lovely. The staff could not have been more helpful with making the children and us feel very welcome. They provided a DVD player and DVDS so the children could watch films in the room. My husband arranged a few surprises over the weekend for my birthday and the staff were fantastic at not only keeping the secrets but also making me feel very special, thank you to all of them.

My husband and I visited the OGH Hotel in February for a Valentine's treat. And what a treat it was. Our room was beautifully furnished, immaculate and had a stunning sea view. The service was fabulous and our stay was managed seamlessly from arrival to departure. We dined at the Brassserie one evening and had a really top notch meal. I'll confess to having enjoyed a few cocktails at the bar too, and no matter how hard I tried to find a bad one, could not find fault there either! We booked Spa treatments and thought these were excellent. I can truly say that this is one of the very best hotels that I've had the pleasure of visiting. For a short break, Guernsey is a really great place to escape, though do expect to pile on a few pounds because there so many great places to eat (and drink)!

Top rate staff, beautiful decor, great food and a superb location. I will be back...

We stayed for three nights (Friday-Monday) and had a fantastic break at this hotel; I went with my family to celebrate 3 of our birthdays (mine, my mum’s and my dad’s). My parents had last visited The OGH 25 years ago and they noticed significant changes. We loved our rooms which were very comfortable and I thought that they had been decorated with great attention to detail. I think mine was the nicest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in; other hotel rooms seem a bit bland in comparison now! I really enjoyed using the hotel spa, I found it very relaxing. I thought the service was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and all of the staff seemed to know that my sister was flying in on the Saturday as a surprise for my parent’s birthdays. They were very well informed and kept my secret so as not to spoil the surprise! They also make the best cocktail I have ever had which is a Raspberry Cosmopolitan and one I would highly recommend tasting! My parents were delighted by their experience of our trip and my mum said that our stay “couldn’t have gone any better”. I would luv to stay there again and I hope I get the opportunity to do so in the future.

Second visit to OGH, the attention to detail is brilliant, lots of little special touches, friendly helpful staff, excellent service and very comfortable accommodation. Both restaurants offer a very high standard of cuisine, excellent breakfast menu hot and cold dishes spoilt for choice. If wanting spa treatments I would book before hand to get time slots required. Would definitely highly recommend.

This was our third stay at OGH, after our honeymoon and a previous Christmas. We hope to be back again for another Christmas soon!

From the moment of arrival, OGH staff ensured we were looked after. We stayed for five nights with a sea view (great despite awful weather) and balcony and ate every dinner at the hotel (we don't manage lunch after the fantastic breakfasts), either in the Brasserie or The Curry Room at Governors and were delighted with each meal.

The gym is well-equipped with friendly staff, we rarely saw other guests or members in the spa/sauna area and had lovely massages.

The one issue we had was very quickly resolved with the General Manager who couldn't have been more helpful.

OGH is expensive (to us at least!) but very good value for money for a special treat. I hope it's not too long before we're back again.
