We didn't stay here, we attended a wedding. What a fantastic wedding it was. The food was lovely, the staff professional but friendly, the views were breath taking. A fabulous venue and a brilliant day.

We stayed here for 5 nights and the hotel is excellent and the service definitely 5 star, nothing is too much trouble, you are really made to feel welcome. The location is good although nothing is far away in this small island. The only criticism I would have, is that the beds are too hard. In a hotel of this standard I would expect to sink into a lovely soft but firm bed and this only had the firm aspect.

What a superb hotel and location. Heated outdoor pool. Met at the airport. Champagne chocs and flowers in room. Very comfortable. The staff were chatty, friendly but always slick and professional. Dale seemed to do a bit of everything, remembered our names and was a wonderful ambassador for the hotel. Thank you all for a wonderful anniversary weekend.

A nice mini break in Guernsey, the weather was good to help. The hotel was excellent, as was the food and accommodation . We found it to be located well in St. Peter s Port also, as there are quite a few things to see.
We could not use the spa unfortunately as it was fully booked, so this needs to be booked beforehand.

Stay one midweek night as we were meeting friends off a cruise ship. Our room was ready earlier than excepted so we changed and went around the small quiet pool which is in a bit of a sun trap. The staff were some of the most friendly I have come across in hotels and all wanting to go that extra mile to help and make your stay an enjoyable one. Room very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was very good as well. This has to be the only place to stay in Guernsey.

We have sailing this year in England and then went to Channel islands. I have been there for a first time. On Guernsey We were walking and looking for a place for diner. I have noticed a lovely hotel and we came in. We have had diner at the brasserie Everything was perfect there, interior,
lovely terrace, food and the excellent service. The member of the staff Marius was very kind to tell us more about the second hotel on Guernsey of the Red Carnation hotel chain and next day we went for diner there. It was the same nice ambiance. I highly recommend everyone to go at least for diner to these hotels while visiting Guernsey. They are for sure best places on the island!

We decided to for go lunch and have afternoon tea instead at the Old Government House as a treat for my parents whilst on a shirt break in Guernsey. After spending the day touring around the island, we were all ready for a cup of tea and some delicious food. And that's just what we got! The men also indulged in a glass of excellent champagne. We opted for the deluxe afternoon tea package, sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and a selection of cakes. All prepared that day and the scones freshly cooked and still warm when they arrived. Heaven, especially when sitting in the fine surroundings of the OGH. We all left happy, if slightly full and were restrained enough to decline the offer of a doggy box for our leftovers (we did manage to leave a couple of cakes un eaten!). Would definitely come back.

We spent a week in this fabulous hotel and were truly sad to leave. The property itself is beautiful and the staff were so friendly, efficient and really seemed to enjoy making our stay one to remember.
On our second night we celebrated my husbands birthday in the Brasserie restaurant. The food was great & at the end of the meal we were presented with a special dessert and a hand writen birthday card.
The one and only negative thing about staying at this hotel is that it has spoiled us for everywhere else. We will definately be returning next year.

My husband and I spent two days and one night in Guernsey for our wedding anniversary on 25th June this year. Booking the trip as a surprise, I made sure we took full advantage of our visit so needed a hotel which could offer fine dining and great spa treatments.

Upon booking, I contacted the general manager, Andrew, and asked him for dining/pampering suggestions. He got back to me very quickly and offered me a bespoke package to include a treatment for us both in their couples room, a private wine tasting session and a meal at their Indian restaurant.

When we checked in, the hotel seemed a little out-dated in the reception lobby and at this point we weren't sure how it would be throughout the rest of the hotel. That said however, the reception staff were so attentive, we knew we weren't going to have an issue with service levels. When booking, I took the second from basic option - I think this was called a king room as opposed to a standard room and when checking in I upgraded again to the same style room but with a sea (harbour) view. This was only a additional £30 and well worth it.

The hotel is a lot bigger than it looks from the front and when being shown to our rooms we were wondering how on earth we were going to find our way back to reception- there are lots of staircases which strangely went up to go down again! Our room was a good size and I have to say, spotlessly clean along with the rest of the hotel. The decor was pleasant if not a little 'different' with most of the walls in the hotel being padded and fabric covered. We did manage to see the smaller rooms on offer and they were extremely compact- we would have found it a little claustrophobic had we have booked this type of room.

A few hours into our stay we went for our 'his and hers' massage which was lovely. Again, the staff were great. We did however have to cancel our wine tasting as all we were capable of doing after 75 mins of relaxation was... Sleep!

When we returned to our room, we were greeted by a bottle of fizz, some hand made chocolates and strawberries and a personally written card from the hotel manager wishing us a happy anniversary. This was a very nice touch and not expected but very much appreciated. We also returned to our room that night to a bed scattered with petals- again, so very personal and made us feel great. It was clear that Andrew had noted our occasion and communicated it with the staff.

The weather, contrary to the forecast, was fabulous and had we have packed anything other than jeans and light jumpers, we would have made full use of the outside pool. That said, we did enjoy a few cocktails on the terrace overlooking the pool and one could have been mistaken for being in the riviera it was so lovely with great views of St Peters Port.

To surmise, in my opinion, this hotel is worthy of its five stars. Granted, it's in need of a little renovation here and there and the Indian restaurant has room for improvement, but the service, cleanliness and overall attentiveness offered at the OGH far outweighs its minor negatives. We will certainly return.

Thank you Andrew and staff, for a lovely weekend.

Enjoyed my stay at OGH with a beautiful room with a view of the port and ocean, attentive and friendly staff, great location to access everything in town via a short walk, and very nice restaurants on site. Looking forward to visiting again.

Once again we were made to feel very welcome. It was nice to see some familiar faces, Keith and Paul in the Crown Club. Big Ken who Iv'e named the New Steak man who cooked an amazing Steak Dianne for me (you must try it). I must also mention Oliver, Sophie and Zoe who really looked after us round the pool. My only slight niggle was confusion whether you are allowed scones round the pool or not, this seemed to depend on which manager was on duty and caused irritation to some guests.
Anyway all in all we had a great time and intend to be back next year.

Fantastic hotel that we come back to time after time, the service is excellent and the recent refurb has made it even better, 5*. We usually book the Herm Suite which has beautiful views over St Peter Port. You can't beat the location so handy to stroll into the town and the food is superb. We have been coming here for 10 years and its always my first choice in Guernsey. The staff are so attentive and friendly, always service with a smile!

We stayed at the OGH for 3 nights, we had an amazing time, the hotel was perfect in every way, all of the staff were brilliant, extremely attentive, we only had a classic room , but still very comfortable and with all of the luxuries! The gym was great and a good choice of fitness classes! The breakfasts are amazing , so much choice . The hotel is in a great position and only a short walk into town , where there is plenty of lovely restaurants . Hoping to return later in the year and would recommend this hotel!

We enjoyed 3 nights in the OGH as part of my partner's 50th birthday. The staff were very attentive and everything was done with a lovely smile, with everyone knowing your name. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the harbour and nearby Islands with everything that we could possibly need provided. We enjoyed a wonderful curry in the Curry Club in very intimate surroundings and the following evening a wine tasting session with Catalin, who was very knowledgable and passionate about the Bouchard Finnlayson wines. Nothing was too much trouble and personally I would not have changed a thing, we shall return. It was a fantastic way to celebrate my 50th, I was made to feel very special for my time here. I can only echo the comments made by my wonderful girlfriend and thank her for the opportunity to enjoy our time here together.

Having stayed in other of The Red Carnation Hotels it was an easy decision to spend our Silver Wedding Anniversary At The Old Government House in Guernsey.

The quality and excellence of service far exceeded even our expectations, what other hotel will provide Iced lemon water and sun cream by the pool. Staff who recognise you and address you by name, the very tops in fine linen and towels, all changed with incredible regularity.

Being on the anniversary package it was a pleasure to be met at the airport by Adam looking very smart and sporting the signature Red Carnation ready to drive us to the hotel. The perfect start.

We had an ambition to eat breakfast in The Olive Grove, we did, every day together with Dinner.

Speaking of dinner, the choice of food is very comprehensive ranging from a sandwich through light bite half portions to large steaks and lobsters. Just take you pick, it is all of the highest standard and beautifully served.

Having absorbed the beautiful furnishings and comfort in all areas - Bea Tollman is a genius and the inspiration behind the R.C.Group- The crowning glory of the Old Government House is it's situation on a ledge in the centre of St Peter Port commanding views across the Harbour and out to the isles of Herm, Sark and even to Jersey and France.

Wish we were still sat on our balcony glass in hand absorbing all these delights.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at the OGH, which included my wife's birthday, and we would certainly not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends. The service was certainly 5 star, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and had every facility we could have hoped for, we ate out during the evenings, as we prefer to do when away exploring local eateries, but breakfasts were plentiful with superb choice and the quality was again excellent. The location of the hotel is a short walk to the town, harbour, restaurants and attractions. If you are visiting Guernsey and want a touch of luxury book up at the OGH.

First thing to mention is that the website talks of the fabulous sea views, which happen to be only viewed from selected rooms. We had a view of the car park and some buildings that may have been of the staff quarters, but certainly in need of refurbishment. You cannot specify that you want a sea view, when you book, but when we complained that our room did not have a view, we were offer a change of room for two of our four night stay. If you can't book a sea view, why didn't they give our room to the later arrivals. The hotel is very old fashioned, but doesn't quite come across as a five star luxury hotel. The staff don't speak to you, without you talking to them first, not even a "good morning". Strange decor as most of the walls are covered in padded fabric, some of which does smell a bit. The bathrooms are tiny and more reminiscent of a B&B or guesthouse. Would I go again, probably not, but it was the combination of the hotel and Guernsey itself that did not tick all my boxes.

I have just returned from another visit during Town Carnival. I like to thank everyone for organizing the Caribbean Night with Tropikal Vizions. The music and the barbecue was a big success.
All the employees worked very hard and I think you are the best staff I have ever met, very efficient and friendly. Dear Mr. Chantrell I hope you will let everyone know. Thank you.

From the arrival until departure I was really spoiled from breakfast to lunch, dinner and drinks at the bar. The quality of the food in the Brasserie Restaurant was excellent. I like the lamb curry best, I even had it twice.

As mentioned before you are really "my home away from home".

See you again next year.

On a recent day trip return to Guernsey after some forty years we made a short lunch time visit to the OGH for drinks, I must reiterate that this was only for drinks however I am delighted to say that the Hospitality bit had not deserted the OGH. The hotel is wonderfully arranged in what I would describe as Chic Opulence the staff were equally well presented with an easy attentive presence, we thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit and plan to make a return with more available time in which to sample more of the hotels offerings.

I was impressed by the sheer number of antiques in the ODG.The ambiance was fantastic. The hotel had areal old world classy feel. The temperature of the outdoor pool was equivalent to bath water but the best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were amazingly helpful and well informed.

I took my mum to the OGH in May for 4nights and it did not disappoint!
The hotel is expensive but you definitely get what you pay for!!
The staff were all amazing and couldn't do enough for you!
The food was amazing- especially breakfast.
If I went back to St. Peter's port, I definitely wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We have just returned from a weeks stay and once again found the OGH to be faultless on every level. The service was perfect and incredibly attentive on both an individual and collective level. The Brasserie menu and food was quite delicious , and our daughter will never forget Ken's Flambé pancake - a perfect ending to her stay! The Crown Club is a most welcomed addition since our last visit and fits in superbly. I must mention the fabulous housekeeping staff who quietly and unobtrusively maintain, service and replenish the rooms to such a high standard - this is a vital aspect of ones stay and again, accomplished superbly. A fabulous week was had by all - the weather was perfect, the pool temperature was perfect, the OGH is perfect!

Got here after a gruelling two hour delay at Stansted (where building hammering work, crowds of noisy families and not enough seating areas had us frazzellled). Then entered paradise! The hotel is luxurious, staff attentive and friendly (not one is snobby!), gorgeous room with balcony seating area, view of the sea, air conditioning and lots of lovely touches. Wonderful lounges, heated outdoor pool....classic furniture... It's hard to leave the hotel each day to get out and see beautiful Guernsey and surrounding Islands! But we do, knowing that a warm welcome awaits when we return.

Some hotels are plush and well-appointed; some provide excellent customer service and some make you feel very much at home and relaxed. The OGH does all three, and does all three very well indeed.

We took a 5-day break to Guernsey and found the OGH to be an ideal base for Guernsey, St Peter Port and visits to the nearby island of Herm. What really made it great was that, without exception, any member of the hotel staff was very friendly and really wanted to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. All the staff can all be justifiably proud of the hotel and the experience they provide to their guests.

In all honesty, we'd have liked our queen room to be a little larger, but it had a really good bed and mattress, a well fitted bathroom with both bath and shower and the room was well serviced throughout our stay.

The restaurant provided an great choice for breakfast each day and, like the rest of the hotel, was run very efficiently and with just the right mix of professionalism and friendliness.

The outdoor pool was perfect for our visit, as we were fortunate to have a series of really warm sunny days.

All in all, we really loved this hotel and the way it operates and provides for it's guests; they paid a large part in making our stay in Guernsey a great experience. Thank you all.

My husband and I stayed here for 6 wonderful nights. We loved everything about the hotel. A great breakfast is included. I loved the location up on a hill. Easy walking access to everything in St. Peter Port. Great views. Pricey, but worth it.
