We have just returned from a very special few days celebrating our ruby anniversary at this beautiful hotel. The staff had to keep from me a surprise appearance of our dear friends a feat which they accomplished with great sensitivity. Throughout our stay we felt that nothing was too much trouble and I include staff at every level in the hotel. This is a gracious hotel and I would recommend it unreservedly for its outstanding level of customer service.

We have just returned from our second visit to the OGH and once again found it to be faultless at every level.
The staff and service at the hotel was exemplary. The upgrade of our room on arrival was unexpected but very thoughtful as was the card and cake awaiting in our room. The bedroom was well appointed, the public rooms were lovely and the breakfasts were wonderful with a large selection available.
All the staff we came into contact with were warm, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A great credit to the hotel.

Thank you for a great break and we will definitely be back soon.

Following a decision made with my wife that we wanted to celebrate my 60th Birthday with 30 close friends and family, on Friday the 20th of March 2015, we had an initial meeting with Sam who was representing the Events Team. Sam could not have been more helpful and we eventully opted to have use of the Dalrymple function Room which is located just off Reception. We also decided to stay the night.
We were provided with various options in terms of canapes, menus and wine for the evening event. After careful decisions, we made our choices. On the day, we checked in to the hotel at about 3.30pm and went to our room. The accomodation was well appointed and immaculate. A handwritten welcoming card was placed by a small birtthday cake. What a fabulous touch.
Our party started at 6. 45pm with a our group being offered pre dinner drinks and canapés. The three course meal was incredible and served by attentive but not over bearring staff under the direction of Harry, the General Manager, whose attention to detail was extraordinary. Nothing was too much trouble for him or his team.
The function finished at about 11.30 and our friends and family made their way home singing the praises about their fabulous experience at the OGH.
We retired to our comfortable room, elated as to how the party had gone.
After a good night's sleep we enjoyed a superb breakfast in the Brasserie.
Sincere thanks to Sam, Harry and all the staff who looked after us. You made my birthday a really special day. Thank you so much.

We stayed at OGH recently for our wedding anniversary. We know the hotel well and knew it was a lovely place to stay - comfy rooms, nice food, great gym, bikes to borrow and high levels of good old fashioned service from the fantastic staff.

But I asked them to arrange a couple of special little touches (I needed the brownie points!). Some dancing lessons and a cookery course. Well - Dale the Guest Experience Manager took on the challenge! I just expected referrals to local schools - not a bit of it! Pascal - the Hotels Executive Chef ran a personal fish cooking course for us - awesome - he's French and certainly loves butter!. Personalised Chef's whites even appeared. Dale ran us to the other side of the island (twice) to our dancing classes. So we can now muddle round a ballroom floor without looking too clumsy. And at the end even a little personalised keepsake photo album

We went to OGH knowing it was a lovely place to stay on a delightful island. We came away having never felt so spolit in a hotel - and we have stayed in some good ones. The team made us feel so special - a truly memorable trip.

This is a beautifully maintained hotel in the heart of St Peter Port; traditional but in a modern way. Afternoon tea is set in a cosy, classy and charming lounge. The experience was great and the service, china, silverware all make it a special occasion. If I am truthfull the food was just so so. Slightly dull sandwiches-ham, egg mayonnaise for example; the scones were poor-my wife said she would have not allowed them to go out of the kitchen-heavy/overcooked and the cakes were insipid/uninspiring. The patisserie chef needs to up his game and management should "sample the wares". However it was a lovely experience there.

We had a lovely weekend at the OGH 6.3.15-8.3.15. The staff are so skilfully trained and the crab sandwiches were amazing. The breakfast was perfect and as always Harry was there to greet us. This was our 6th visit and it just gets better, thank you.

We were made to feel very welcome at OGH. The staff are very focussed on their customers and strive for an excellent experience for guests. They are always helpful, smiling, attentive and well presented. The building is historic and beautiful, with many lovely details. We booked a large room (which would have been very nice) but were kindly upgraded to the Sark suite, which was superb. The bed was very comfortable, the towels new and of excellent quality, and the bath supplies all from L'Occitane.
Breakfast was delicious and afternoon tea a great experience. Lovely food and an endless supply of excellent tea.
The hotel is very well located in the centre of St Peter's Port and it is easy to walk along the coast from there, or to excellent restaurants like Le Petit Bistro.

We went to St Peters Port for an event that we were co-hosting at the Old Government House Hotel. We stayed for one night and had lunch & dinner at the OGH. The hotel is welcoming and the staff are extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. Our standard room was not large but was furnished to a high quality. The food was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot wait for an opportunity to return to the OGH.

This afternoon the OGH hosted an Afternoon Tea for 102 ladies fundraising for 2 charities - Nicki Wheetman and Diabetes UK (she is running the London Marathon for them) and my charity Bridge2. The service, quality of the tea and the helpfulness of the staff was second to none. I cannot praise them highly enough. Nicki and I were so so impressed with the whole package. The afternoon went with a swing and we have had many compliments.
So thank you OGH we WILL be back soon - if you will have us?

We have just had 3 days break at the Old Government House (3 nights for 2) and have come home relaxed and fresh.
The Hotel and staff were second to none.
The rooms, food and people couldnt have been any better and made our stay one to remember.
In particular Harry and Dale (Managers) were always there to make sure everyone in the hotel were enjoying their stay.
Have already bought my mother in law a two day package for mothers day.
Once again cannot praise this hotel enough, well done to all at the OGH !!

Our second recent visit after a gap of 25 years, as always fantastic Hotel and staff, they couldn't do enough for us even surprising us with two birthday cakes and cards!! Spa facilities very good indeed, thoroughly enjoyed the "relaxing area". Breakfasts at Hotel were very high standard so bang went the diets for the duration of our stay! Looking forward to return visit.

We had a 2 night break at the OGH. The staff were warm and friendly. They went out of their way to make our stay as special as possible. Ray the head waiter was a fountain of knowledge on the food and wine which were really delicious. The car hire on the Discovery Package was so easy,we just mentioned our name and the car was ready in minutes, a little Ford Ka which was perfect for the narrow roads. The room had a harbour view and a balcony. It was clean and beautifully appointed. We had a picnic lunch one day which was nicely packed, fresh and probably rather too much for the 2 of us. I had a massage in the Spa which was such a treat. The only slight down side was that many of the museums in Guernsey are closed in the winter months, opening at the end of March. The German Occupation Museum was open however and was very informative. The Guernsey people are lovely. Driving is very easy. Drivers are very courteous to each other. We will certainly be going back in the summer months.

Coming over on the ferry from England to Guernsey we read about this hotel and thought it would be a good place to have tea/lunch/dinner. We were passing and so decided to have tea. The welcome we received was warm, polite and friendly and we were shown the public areas for dinner/lunch/tea. Besides a formal dining room it has a very Raj Indian restaurant, an afternoon tea room and a conservatory. The views to the rear are over the port, so in the summer when you can dine in the garden you would get fabulous views. As we arrived at about 4pm we decided to have a pot of tea and a scone, as we did not want a full tea as we were just not that hungry. We sat in the conservatory and had a pot of Earl Grey and two scones, jam and cream, which came to just under £10. The service was excellent, efficient and courteous and the scones delicious, with real Guernsey cream. Every part of the hotel which we visited was a delight and the attention to detail was obvious. We are so glad we decided to explore this hotel. It comes highly recommended and a must to visit.

I can't recommend this hotel strongly enough. It may be more expensive than others in the area but in my humble opinion it is well worth the cost. Parking is not a problem as you simply hand your keys to reception who then sort out the parking. On arrival we were welcome and given a tour of the hotel. There is a maze of passages going up and down on the way to our room which was a king size balcony room with a great view over to herne and sark. The bed was really comfortable and the room very quiet. We also made use of both restaurants in the hotel and can confirm the food to be excellent. On our last day we had afternoon tea which was very comprehensive including sandwiches, cream scones and cakes with a choice of teas. Very good value too. It was great as all the staff know our names and appeared to enjoy giving great service. I can honestly say everything was well done and I could not fault them at all. An excellent stay and if we do visit Guernsey again we will be back.

My wife and I enjoyed a three day visit to the OGH. From arrival to deparure we found friendly efficient and welcoming staff. Jaro, the concierge from the Czech Republic was like a human Wikipedia, and very helpful in every way!

The restaurant and brasserie food was outstanding

Although our room was a little on the small side, it was very comfortable and quiet, and we appreciated having a shower cubicle

Everything at the OGH exudes quality and care

we stayed at the hotel for a weekend break. The hotel is nicely furnished but definitely not minimalist! Our room was rather small but had a view of the sea. The bathroom was also quite small but it had a shower as well as a bath, which was good. There was also lots of space to put wash bags etc in there and good quality shower gel/shampoo etc. The bed was very comfortable. We were surprised that we could hear the people in the next room talking. The breakfast was good with excellent fruit as well as a wide selection of cooked food. The breakfast room is lovely and light. The bar/lounge has lots of small areas which means you can have a drink without being next to lots of other people. I think the stars of the hotel are the staff. They are very attentive and spotted that I wasn't sure of the way to the staircase and took me to it - the hotel can seem a bit rambling. If a taxi doesn't arrive when booked they chase it up without being asked. We had to ring them and ask them to put something in a taxi which they did - definitely above and beyond.

Weekend spent at this lovely hotel, Great location, good facilities, spa (didn't use, wish I had), restaurants, outdoor pool (too cold to use), lounge and bar areas to relax or entertain. Part of a privately owned hotel group Red Carnation, newly discovered and will certainly try to use again. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Room 102 slightly small if you like space both in the room and your bed.

I have been visiting Guernsey on a monthly basis for four years and have alway stayed at the OGH - apart from one night when I have not been booked in. That night I stayed at the sister hotel up the hill from the OGH, and it was very comfortable etc. However nothing really compares with the OGH in any aspect. Maybe I have been going for too long but I would not wish to stay anywhere else. The hotel and the staff are simply outstanding in every aspect and I really cannot say more than that..

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at the Old Government House Hotel. It was the absolute highlight of our 3 week trip in 5 European countries. The staff was so accommodating, friendly, helpful in every way and extremely professional. The hotel itself is lovely, impeccably decorated and provides so many interesting and comfortable spaces for relaxing with a good book by a fire, having a quiet delicious meal or enjoying evening cocktails. Our guest room was spacious, beautiful and provided absolutely everything we could imagine. The hotel is located within blocks of great shopping and the charming harbor, all within walking distance. Leaving OGH was the hardest goodbye we had in our journeys.

Great stay here for a of couple nights with my wife and friends on a business trip.

Excellent standard of rooms, the beds are huge and very comfy. I'm normally fussy as I love my bed.

The Resturant and service was brilliant. We had a large group for dinner and the attention from the staff was perfect at all times.

Would definitely stay here again when we are back on the island
