Fleur Du Jardin
Fleur Du Jardin mixes the ambience of a 15th century Guernsey farmstead with modern hotel rooms and facilities, plus contemporary gastro pub style cuisine in its brasserie restaurant. This luxury boutique hotel offers a personalised up to date service in relaxing rural surroundings.
15th Century Charm - 21st Century Chic
Despite literal translation Fleur Du Jardin is not only the flower in the garden, being named for an acclaimed breed of the famed Guernsey cow, the Fleur du Jardin XII, which was originally bred and farmed on these premises when the property housed one of the island's key dairy farms. That reputation for excellence is upheld to this day by the Fleur Du Jardin hotel and restaurant.
Now owned by the Walker family, this charming old Guernsey farmhouse is a relaxed informal setting for a countryside hotel and gastro pub style brasserie that is perfectly placed at the rural heart of Castel parish. To the north and west, just a short walk away, are the pristine white sands of Vazon Bay, a popular local beach for families. To the south are miles of green lanes and some of Guernsey's most unspoilt countryside, such as the verdant Talbot Valley, for you to walk or cycle in tranquility.
Fleur Du Jardin offers a unique blend of old country charm, modern luxury hospitality and a level of culinary quality that saw its brasserie recently awarded the prestigious accolade of Best Dining Pub in the Channel Islands by the Good Food Guide - high praise indeed considering the fierce competition in an island famed for its restaurant cuisine.
Fleur Du Jardin has fifteen bedrooms decorated in a rustic shabby chic style, with bleached timber panel walls and a mix of contemporary and antique furnishings, to give each room its own unique coastal character and the warmth of a home away from home.
Double and twin rooms are available, as are two superior rooms, two garden rooms, plus two loft suites. The suites are suitable for four person families and feature walls with exposed Guernsey granite, wooden beams and fantastic views. All of the rooms have ensuite facilities, though the suites have wet rooms and sandstone bathrooms. The suites are in high demand so book early to avoid disappointment.
All bedrooms are equipped with televisions (flat screens with satellite channels in the suites), telephones, hairdryers, plus tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has an attractive walled garden with a solar-heated swimming pool (open May to August) with decking and plenty of tables and chairs on the back terrace.
Staff are happy to assist residents in booking car/bike hire with preferential partner rates, or even tours to the other Channel Islands. Excellent surfing conditions are available at nearby Vazon Bay and Perelle Bay and there are many excellent walking routes and beaches close by. Sea fishing trips can be arranged, for a half or full day, with local fishermen and the Chef at Fleur Du Jardin is happy to cook and serve you whatever you catch.
Prime Produce - Supreme Service
The brasserie is popular with both locals and visitors alike, thanks to the high standards maintained by the Head Chef. Seasonality and freshness underpin every dish, prepared using the finest produce from both local waters and pasture. This includes famed Guernsey beef, pork from the renowned Meadow Court Farm, West Coast scallops and an abundant variety of fresh line-caught fish delivered directly to the kitchen by local fishermen.
These peerless local ingredients are cooked simply to bring out their natural flavours in true gastro pub style, then delivered to your table with a smile. Dine alfresco on the terrace in the warmer months, or cosy up near the log fire in the flagstone floored bar as winter closes in. Fleur Du Jardin exudes effortless excellence at any time of year, adapting to each season just like the menu. Small wonder that Fleur Du Jardin was named Best Dining Pub in the Channel Islands by the Good Food Guide!
The Bar Manager takes pride in Fleur Du Jardin's many awards from CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) and regularly changes the selection of real ales available at the bar, though Adnams Broadside and local Liberation ale are usually available. Also available are local cider and wines from our carefully prepared wine list, with many wines available by the glass.
Fleur Du Jardin - Genial Guernsey Hospitality
