Delta Training provide top class training courses in First Aid and Health & Safety to the Guernsey Bailiwick.

Delta Training's founder, Dawn Bagnall CIEH, served 22 years in the British Army in mainly training and operational roles in the Middle East. Afterwards Dawn worked for two years as a front-line Emergency Medical Technician with Guernsey's Ambulance and Rescue Services. Dawn created Delta to provide the high quality training in First Aid and Health & Safety that she believes the Island deserves. After 4 successful years, Dawn has now passed on the Delta Torch to her friend and colleague, Sarah de la Mare. Sarah has a nursing background, was a Paramedic in the Ambulance Service and has worked as an Essential Clinical Skills Trainer at the Institute of Health and Social Care Studies. Sarah shares the same passion for quality training that is enjoyable, informative and inspires confidence.

Proper Training, Not Just Ticking A Box

First Aid

First Aid is the initial assistance rendered to a person who has been injured or become ill. First aiders take responsibility to keep everyone involved safe, to prevent further harm until emergency services arrive; to do this they must recognise the emotional and physical needs of all involved, including themselves.

Nominated first aiders are trained by Delta to express a calm and considerate demeanour to facilitate trust and respect so that they can manage this situation. Delta Training has years of experience dealing with real-life medical and trauma emergencies and can give realistic and valid instruction.

Delta Training is proud to provide the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course which is regulated by EYFS and OFSTED in accordance with new legislation for anyone who works with children and infants, such as teachers, child minders, crèche assistants and playgroup personnel.

De-Fibrillation

Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are widely available around the island, both for 24hour Public Access and in many community locations and businesses. Being confident in their use is becoming critical to life saving in a sudden cardiac arrest.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) occurs because the normal electrical rhythm that controls the heart is replaced by a chaotic disorganised electrical rhythm called ventricular fibrillation (VF).

An AED delivers a high energy electric shock to a victim in SCA caused by VF to restore the heart’s normal rhythm. AEDs are compact, portable, easy to use and guide the operator through the process with prompts and commands. The AED analyses precisely the victim’s heart rhythm and will only deliver a shock if it is required. (www.resus.org.uk)
