The MSFL side faced unbeaten Framfield & Blackboys II at the Sports Park. Having played on a monster pitch the previous week it was back to reality & the kids size pitches. Preparations were thrown into disarray before kick off with the match referee being moved to cover a match in a higher Division. With Nick away, Grant was leading the side this week & was now forced into refereeing, frantic pleas & phone calls in the car park were to no avail. The team lined up with Spooner returning in goal, the back 4 was Little Az, Big Az, Dan & Tribe. The midfield was last weeks hat trick hero Josh, Rob, Harry & Dean. With Glen & Luca up front. Jules was asked to lead the shouts from the sidelines, Joe & Brooks making his debut completed the bench. Early on the visitors started brightly earning at least 6 corners in a row but the rangers defence stood firm. Rangers were finding it hard to get out off their half with misplaced passes being the theme. Spooner saved well with his feet after a shot from the edge of the area traveled through bodies. It was the visitors that deservedly took the lead, a goal very similar to Joe Cole in the world cup. The ball sat up nicely on the left edge of the box and was volleyed into the far corner with Spooner helpless. Rangers finally woke up, Luca dropped a bit deeper in the hope of getting a foot on the ball & start play. Dan so nearly equalised, a deep corner was played back across the box by Harry, Dan flicked out a leg not making a huge connection but enough to send towards the bottom corner, only a flying save from the keeper kept it out. Rangers did eventually make it 1-1, the ball being won on the half way line & Glen was away racing towards goal. He smashed the ball in the near post, Glen saying he gave the keeper the eyes, several others dispute this now refering to Glen as "SCUFF Daddy" or "Paschal SHINbonda". Rangers felt confident at half time that with the improvement shown after going a goal down that they could get the win. Framfield were playing tight at the back and with no width on the pitch the game was played mostly in the middle swinging back & forth. Josh made way for Joe and this allowed Little Az to come more into the game managing to get in & deliver some dangerous crosses. Rangers were caught pushing forwards and only a great diving save from Spooner kept the game level. Luca hit the bar from distance and these were closet either side came to winning. A draw was a fair result with both teams struggling on the small pitch, Framfield previously hadn't conceded a goal. Rangers can take positives, it felt like a defeat after but remain unbeaten. Luca completing 90 minutes for the first time this season only some wayward passing denying him the MOM award this week. MOM went to Little Az for his all round play, solid defending, rampaging runs down the left & careful distribution.
