Race For Life is a massive event across the country. Hundreds, if not thousands of women run, jog or walk the 5 kilometre course to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.  Bolton’s run takes place on Sunday 6th July at 11am at Leverhulme Park in Bolton.

The organisers of the event suggest you use public transport or walk to the event. There will be parking on Romer Street and pedestrians can access the park off Long Lane.

There are no winners and losers in this race, only the common goal of raising as much money for charity as possible.

The route of the 5k itself is in a circle shape. There will be many different landscapes to negotiate, like grass and gravel footpaths, as well as gentle hills and downhill sections.

If you don’t want to take part in the actual race but still want to be involved in this worthwhile cause, you can apply to become a volunteer on the day. This could involve setting up the race or helping the runners prepare for the Race For Life. The starting point of the race is the Athletics Arena at Leverhulme Park.

The entry fee for over 16’s (women only) is £14.99, for child entry (6-15 year old girls and under 13’s boys) it’s £10 and for under 6’s (boys and girls) there’s no entry fee and no need to register.

The more supporters that come along to watch the event the better the atmosphere will be, although it is a popular event so the ambience is always electric. The more people in the crowd, cheering you on the better.

Whilst you’re running, the crowds can browse the stalls that will be erected at the side of the course, enjoy some snacks and drinks and maybe even have their face painted.

There are still plenty of spaces available for runners, so visit the Race For Life Website to sign up.

As an added treat, Mecca Bingo are inviting all runners along to play a game of bingo for free after the event.

On Saturday 12th July between 7pm and 9pm come along to Mecca Bolton and claim your free 14 page easybook. It’s free to join Mecca, so come along and meet up again with your fellow runners and enjoy games of bingo and their delicious food and drink.
