ItâÂÂs almost that time of year, where half term is upon us once more. But this time, itâÂÂs no ordinary half-term with the QueenâÂÂs Jubilee celebrations also taking up several days, providing two bank holidays worth of âÂÂIâÂÂm bored, IâÂÂm bored, IâÂÂm boredâÂÂ. Here in Bolton, thereâÂÂs really no excuse for that, with plenty going on to keep people of all ages entertained.

To help celebrate the QueenâÂÂs Jubilee, the Olympus Fish and Chip restaurant is playing host to the Farnworth Performing Arts who will be singing a selection of traditional songs, all in the setting of a great eatery.

Over at Westhoughton market, theyâÂÂre also celebrating the Jubilee alongside the already-renowned local produce. There will be singers throughout the weekend singing from the 40s and 50s, specially themed activities, and a competition to find the best baker in Westhoughton.

In the aptly-named Queens Park, Bolton council have organised the Big Lunch, a mass picnic held to celebrate our MonarchâÂÂs 60 year reign, along with food and entertainment for all the family.

Edgworth are playing host to several activities over the bank holiday weekend, including a parade of floats from Turton Tower to The Barlow, the lighting of one of thousands of beacons across the world, and a hog-roast.

The Blue Lion pub in Daisy Hill is having a Jubilee Party where all the family is welcome, adding karaoke, disco and a bouncy castle to fantastic drinks.

Middlebrook Retail Park will also be joining in the festivities, with plenty of activities taking place in the mall, and the surrounding areas. There will also be the chance to dress up like the King and Queen, and have a picture taken with a replica crown. ThatâÂÂs not to mention the great shopping to be had, and the excellent selection of restaurants.

Something for the adults can be found at G Casino, where, when you join them for the Jubilee, you get the chance to pick a card and win £50.

Then, when the Jubilee fun is done, there is still the rest of the half-term week to contend with. But, thereâÂÂs still plenty more to do in Bolton.

At Barlow Park, keep the children entertained with the play centre, with both indoor and outdoor fun sessions, games, drama, arts and crafts, music, and sports. This is also taking place at Heywood Young Peoples Centre, and the Community Leisure Centre in Turton.

Bolton Arena are hosting a half term sports camp, held over two days, with plenty going on, including lots of sports games (such as football, basketball, cricket, tennis, rounders and volleyball), trips to the cinema, and the chance to compete against each other and the Bolton Arena coaches.

Just across the road, ont he 7th of June, Bolton Wanderers are having their own half term fun day. Especially for children aged between 5 and 11 years, this day is packed with great activities.

And thereâÂÂs the favourite with all ages, Cineworld, who have a great selection of films on this half term. ThereâÂÂs also the opportunity to take advantage of a deal with them to include a great meal at the highly recommended Spice Valley restaurant, located just next door.

This is just a selection of activities taking place in Bolton this Jubilee Weekend, and Half Term. For even more ideas, visit the events section of the website.
