We all love the fantastic food and drink that is made here in Somerset, but have you ever wanted to meet the people behind scenes?

An innovative new project launched this week will enable you to do just that. The project, called "Somersaete" - the old English name for our county, showcases some of Somerset's finest Artisan food and drink producers in a series of "pop-up" one night only dining experiences in the four corners of the county. “We know, you know, let’s face it, everyone knows that we live in a very nice spot” comments Katy Bull, Chef and owner at Minno Kitchen, the culinary driving force behind Somersaete “ and we wanted to to celebrate that along with singing about the wonderful artisan producers that are sometimes hidden away throughout our county”. “Not only will guests be treated to a sumptuous four course menu, each course highlighting a particular local producer, representatives from those producers, generally the owner themselves, will be on-hand all evening, dining right along with you”. “

People are always fascinated to discuss what goes on behind the scenes in the food and drink industry” adds Andrew Moloney, MD at Artisan Southwest and Somersaete collaborator. “It’s a great opportunity to ask them all those questions you've always wanted to know the answer to, as well as discuss the many topics we hear about in the news today with people that are at the sharp-end of the industry”.

These ticket only, exclusive events kick off on Good Friday, March 29th 2013 when Somersaete "pops-up" for the first time at Provender Deli in South Petherton. Diners will be treated to a four course meal featuring the produce of Brown and Forrest Smokery, Glebe Farm organic meats, Westcombe Dairy cheeses and Granny Gothard's fantastic artisan Ice cream. In addition, free tasters of some of the great beers from local brewer Moor Beer Company will also be available, will also be on-hand to talk all things beer!

Subsequent “Somersaete” events across the county will introduce diners to more food producers as well as a local drinks producer, each time from that particular "corner" of the county.
