The Town of Chard is easily reached by road, turning off the A 358 main road to Taunton. Visit one of several Cafes, Pubs or Restaurants in the main street. Alternatively visit the many local shops, including Antiques Shops, Museum, or just relax by Chard Reservoir.
Chard is close to both the Devon & Dorset borders, so makes a good place to use as a base for visiting both the Jurassic & the North Devon coast. In addition, it is close to The Blackdown Hills, which offer some fantastic walks.
Chard is the second largest town in South Somerset with a population of approximately 14,000. Although people have lived there since prehistoric times. It first came to prominence in the Doomsday book.
