Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre is asking people to create red, white and blue arrangements, which will be judged in its Coronation Flower Festival on July 13 and 14. Norma Moore, General Manager of the award-winning, independent, family-run garden centre at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton, explained: “To celebrate the coronation we decided to hold a themed flower festival in aid of one of our charities of the year, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). “We’re asking people to create red, white and blue flower displays. The winner will receive a £50 Monkton Elm gift voucher. Second and third place will receive certificates. “We will also be holding a collection for CHSW during the weekend.” CHSW is currently the only provider of specialist hospice care for children in the region. It offers much needed support for youngsters with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and their families at Little Bridge House in Fremington near Barnstaple, Charlton Farm in Wraxall, North Somerset and Little Harbour in Porthpean near St Austell. Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre was awarded the Albert Goodman Family Business Award at the Somerset Business Awards in 2012. The Coronation Flower Festival will take place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, Taunton on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 during normal garden centre opening hours.
