I’ve never done a Body Balance class before and wasn’t sure what to expect.
It was one of the activities I took part in during my Peake experience day, at Peake Fitness gym at Stoke by Nayland Hotel. If I were to try and explain what it is, imagine yoga and Pilates had a baby and that baby loved Red Bull and blue Smarties. That is Body Balance!
The session is run by Nicki Smith, Fitness Manager at Peake Fitness and she explains that the benefits of Body Balance are plentiful. Firstly, it’s a form of exercise accessible to all levels of ability and all ages. It improves your flexibility, core strengths, lowers anxiety and stress. It helps you focus and creates a lasting sense of calm.
But that doesn’t mean you’re not pushed or challenged. I was taken through a series of stretches, moves and poses, where I discovered muscles in my stomach, quite frankly, I didn’t even realise existed.
However, the workout was, I’d say, very holistic. Despite having never done this before, I left class certainly feeling relaxed and happy. The relaxation session at the end of the session contributed to a sense of wellbeing and calm.
