This term, Thomas Gainsborough School is taking a step forward in its career development efforts by launching a pilot programme aimed at bolstering the employability skills of its students.

The initiative is a collaborative effort with local business, Addvantage 4U, and has garnered sponsorship from another esteemed local business and thebestof Sudbury business member, award-winning Wardale Williams, independent opticians based in Sudbury.

At the heart of the programme is the tried-and-tested PEP-Choices system. This system is designed to cultivate the essential skills that employers often find lacking in young recruits, such as resilience, perseverance, motivation, ambition, teamwork, relationship-building, critical thinking, problem-solving, open-mindedness, tolerance, respect, personal organisation, and self-assurance.

Such skills not only pave the way for successful employment but also play a pivotal role in academic achievements and overall life success.

Many students from Thomas Gainsborough School are already making their mark in the local workforce, either through part-time jobs or by securing permanent positions upon graduation. This new programme is poised to further fortify the bond between the school and local businesses, ensuring students are even better prepared to contribute effectively to their employers.

The official unveiling of this promising pilot programme is scheduled at the school premises at 6 pm on 7th November. This is an opportunity to meet with the students and team at Addvantage4U to find out more about how your organisation can get involved with scheme and make a difference to the local economy and future work force.
