The Sudbury Adopt a Shop Campaign Launches To Help The Local High Street Kick Off To A Great Start

January is a notoriously difficult month for retail. And the last couple of years have made it even more so, so this month, thebestof Sudbury and Sudbury Town Council are launching the first-ever Sudbury’s Adopt A Shop campaign and we want you all to get involved

We’d like you to support your favourite local business by taking them under your wing. We don’t mean moving them into your house or giving them hugs, but to share with your friends, family, colleagues why it’s your favourite shop and encourage them to support them too. If you nominate your Adopted Shop here we will put your name into a prize draw to win £50 at your adopted shop

What’s involved

We want as many people to #sudburyadoptashop so what’s involved?

  1. You chose the shop or business (it could be a pub, cafe-restaurant, insurance broker - they just need to be in Sudbury - or there abouts)

  2. Pledge to support the business by taking a photo of the shop/ products from the shop/ business owner/ their dog.. Anything related to that business

  3. Encourage others to spend the same amount of money in the local businesses as you might do online. Let’s keep the £ in the local community.

  4. Stating why you’re adopting it, and give reasons why you should visit them too

  5. Post them on the Shop Sudbury Pledge Facebook Page  and you’re own social media. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #sudburyadoptashop

  6. Or if you’re not on social media, tell friends about it. Call them up, text them, WhatsApp them, knock on their front door, invite them for tea and explain why they need to visit this shop this January.

  7. Don’t forget to share the love. When you adopt a shop, encourage others to adopt their own shop too.upport their chosen business, should ask people to adopt their own shop so

  8. The more people that get involved, the more we can help support local businesses during this difficult time. We can spend the month of January/ February spreading some love for local businesses

What should the adopted shop do

We want to make sure that local businesses get maximum support and exposure for this and there are some very simple things you can do.

Email, blog, post social media updates asking to be adopted (A shop can be adopted by more than one person and one person can adopt more than one shop. There’s no restriction of love in Sudbury!)

Share and RT posts that mention your business

Do Facebook lives, Instagram Reels, TikToks - video gets the best engagement on social media.

If you’re struggling with social media, get in touch with Penny and she can give you some advice or you want help to get your business adopted, click HERE

When does it start.

Adopt A Shop will officially start on Monday 17th January. This is also Blue Monday - officially the most depressing day of the year (apparently) so let's share a bit of joy and show our local businesses some love.
