What happened during the Hertford Christmas Gala 2010
27th November 2010

Hertford is bathed in Christmas lights!  Friday the 26th November saw hopefully the first of many Hertford Christmas Galas which included the switching on of the town centre Christmas lights.

Hundreds turned out to watch Jack Fm DJ Steve Folland and the Mayor of Hertford push down the cartoon plunger and send Hertford into Christmas brightness!  At the main stage outside The White Hart the Jack FM girls kept the crowd entertained and warm with some dancing and fun competitions, and then stepped aside as the brilliant kids from Top Hat Stage School wowed the crowds with their well planned dancing and singing routines.  Elsewhere in Parliament Square onlookers enjoyed a steel band and a merry Christmas band in Maidenhead Street.

Despite the cold it was great to see so many people showing up and enjoying the activities and taking advantage of the dozens of shops being open later than usual.  Cafe Yum and Mootylicious kept the public warm with coffees and hot milkshakes (try the Double Decker hot milkshake - superb!), a mini farmers style market included tasty cheeses and brilliant food ideas.  All in all the Hertford Christmas Gala 2010 was a lovely family evening enjoyed by many - despite the freezing conditions!

Have a look at the pictures below to see the best from the evening including Kids Connection's Aladdin window display, which narrowly missed out from winning the window display competition to The Beauty Room's Cinderella display, which is also shown.
