What do you look for when choosing a scent?

During recent lockdowns, it has become apparent that many have taken time to re-evaluate what they really want or need for themselves and their families. A better work / life balance has become a priority for many of us, and value for money has become far more important when budgets are stretched.

Of course we want some ‘luxuries’ and fragrances can easily fall into the luxury spend category. But many of us love to wear our favourite fragrance every day – and why shouldn’t we? We are worth it!

So, what do you look for when choosing a scent?

Answering honestly rate the following options 1-5 (where 1 is of low importance in making your decision and 5 is highly important), when choosing a fragrance for yourself or as a present for someone you care about:

  1. I see the fragrance advertised regularly on TV or in magazines.
  2. The brand is famous.
  3. I trust the celebrity endorsing the fragrance.
  4. The packaging looks expensive.
  5. I like the design of the bottle.
  6. I believe a high price guarantees high quality.
  7. It’s familiar to me so it’s a safe bet.
  8. I need to know the fragrance has staying power.
  9. What’s in the bottle is the most important consideration.
  10. I want the fragrance to be worn and not just left on the shelf.

Have your thoughts changed a little over recent months? Perhaps a little information about FM World’s perfume range will help to reduce ‘luxury’ fragrance spend and allow you and your family to save a little more towards family outings and holidays.

Who is FM World? FM World is a global brand which focuses on recommendations without the need for advertising spend in mass media or for celebrity endorsements.

Where does FM World source its perfumes? FM World sources the perfume compositions for its Pure, Pure Royal and Utique ranges from DROM, a supplier of fragrances to many well known endorsed brands.

Does FM World just copy the famous brands? No! FM World buys directly from DROM, a fragrance manufacturer, in the same way as other brands. Buying ‘off the shelf’ means that all is fair and legitimate. The endorsed brands name and package their chosen fragrances to suit their brand. FM World has its own brand packaging and gives its Pure and Pure Royal perfumes a number, thus avoiding the cost of ‘protecting’ a fragrance name. FM’s Utique perfumes are named as they have been commissioned specifically by FM World.

Do FM World’s fragrances have ‘staying power’? Yes, as FM World uses at least 20% fragrance concentration. This means FM’s ranges can be classified as ‘parfum’. Other well known fragrances are normally eau de parfum or eau de toilette, which means they are more diluted and have less ‘staying power’.

Does FM World follow the fragrance trends? Absolutely! FM World both follows new seasonal fragrance trends and maintains a large collection of traditional favourites which our customers still love. Additionally, FM World packages its perfumes in classic style bottles and boxes which not only look good but minimise additional costs to customers.
