There is a proposed scheme to improve the area around Hoddesdon Business Park and the New River bridge (Essex Road, Hoddesdon).

The idea is to build a new access road to make it safer for cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles where the road narrows off at the bridge which goes over the New River and for access in and out of the business park.
