Turning 100 – it’s our centenary and it’s time to celebrate
3rd February 2021

1921 – the year that the Duke of Edinburgh was born, tax discs were introduced for cars, and it was the first time that a ‘woman was sawn in half’ in public as part of a magic show.

…and of course, the one and only HB Accountants was founded.

We’re excited to announce that on 5th February, 2021 we are officially 100 years old. That’s 100 years of helping businesses and individuals with their accounts, tax, and financial planning!

Of course, we need to celebrate. With no parties possible (at the moment) we decided to put all our effort into team building, health & wellbeing and raising even more money for the wonderful, Teens Unite Fighting Cancer, a charity local to Hoddesdon that supports teenagers facing cancer. Read on to learn more about our Centenary Challenge and what you can do to join in!

The Centenary Challenge

Can you complete 100/100?

That could be walking 100 miles in 100 days (Vicki, Karen R, Amy, Jane & Karen C’s challenge)

Or 100 squats over 100 days (Team HB challenge)

Or singing 100 songs over 100 days – or telling 100 jokes – of discovering 100 different ways to wear your hair…

Or cycling 100 miles over 100 days on a static bike in a garage, as the fantastic Lee Chase is doing? (Lee is brother to HB’s, Barrie)

Or anything else that we dream up!

Join in! “HB 100 Challenge” yourself!

You’re more than welcome to join in, invest in a little bit of “you” time, and you could raise money too!

If you don’t fancy doing something alone, you could support the HB office challenge or collecting 100 x £1 coins, 100 x £2 coins, £100 x £5 notes and so on – not sure if we’ll get 100 x £50 notes, but we’ll try!

Let us know what you’re up to, post to your socials using the hashtag #HB100Challenge and tag us in @HBAHoddesdon (we are on all the social channels, even TikTok) and watch out for our series of stories about the history of HB over the next few weeks. It’s been a long and varied history!
