The Olympic Torch Relay Comes To Hertford
8th July 2012

Welcome to the Hertford blog.

On the 7th July 2012 history happened in Hertford as the Olympic Torch heading towards its final destination of East London passed through Hertford’s historic town centre.

Carried by 4 torchbearers including MS sufferer, Charlotte Brown, the iconic flame passed through the very heart of Hertford in full view of thousands of proud residents who came out in their droves to watch this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Despite the looming rainclouds which unleashed shortly after the relay, the mood of the crowd was joyous and celebratory and showed the world that Hertford has the ingredients of what makes Britain a great and wonderful place to live.

Hats off to the organisers of the event, it went smoothly and everyone was ensured to get a good view.  In particular the Rotary Club of Hertford provided lots of volunteers to help with crowd control and they did a superb job, without the helpers and carers of this town we wouldn’t be able to hold events such as the Olympic Torch relay, so a big thank you to you all.
