Well it’s started, the work on the Hertford Sainsbury’s has begun. Reports on The Mercury’s website explains that preliminary work which will last 3 months started this week on the store which is due to open in the autumn.
The work is mainly demolition work of the old Mc Mullen and Sons buildings and will be carried out between 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
There’s a lot of opinion about the Hertford Sainsbury’s opening this year, some for it and some against it. In my opinion it’s a terrible shame that our wonderful independent town centre is now home to 3 big supermarkets, but the benefits will bring more parking and possible price wars on our everyday shopping. Which is something we could all benefit from.
