Local Bike Rides Around Hertford

A good old fashioned bike ride through the great British countryside is one of the many pleasures we get to enjoy in this country. And with the weather as glorious as it is now and the school summer holidays starting soon, there has never been a better time to go for a bike ride around Hertfordshire.

Just a short bike ride outside of Hertford town centre lays a beautiful circular route starting and finishing from Bengeo. The 12 mile ride will take roughly an hour to complete, although a gentle pace will take longer. It’s a road only route that starts on the busy streets of town and soon moves along the winding lanes to Bramfield village before circling Bramfield Woods and heading back to Hertford.

The ride will take in some of our finest scenery, from the rolling fields, to beautiful woodland, and once in Bramfield the possibilities for more off road orientated routes present themselves to you.

The 12 mile ride is quite hilly, so it’s not exactly gentle and the lanes can be dangerous with cars, so be careful and avoid taking youngsters on this ride for this reason alone.  Below is a satellite map of the ride for you to study.

We’ll soon be posting more bike rides around Hertford and the surrounding area which will cater for families and the more serious riders alike. In the meantime here’s a great website which gives basic analysis of local bikes rides including maps for you to enjoy!

Thanks for reading!
