Cheaper, better service? Are we talking about a utility company?

Welcome to the Hertford blog.

If you’ve been following the energy price fixing scandal in the news this week, you’ll realise that Prime Minister, David Cameron’s recent promise to ensure that energy companies only offer the cheapest tariff available, is actually harder to keep than he originally envisaged.

However, there is an alternative to the ‘big 6’ energy companies. The Utility Warehouse Discount Club. Owned by Telecom Plus, a UK PLC and FTSE 250 company, The Utility Warehouse Discount Club is a utility company like no other.

Services are sold by individual distributors, who build a network of local customers based on family and friends. Each customer benefits from one to one interaction with their local distributor which is similar to using a local business on the high street, any issues with the service and the customer can directly call their local distributor who often lives in the same town as them. It’s a refreshing approach to the normal customer service from utility companies which usually involves long waits on the phone to foreign call centres.

Perhaps the most attractive offering from The Utility Warehouse Discount Club is the extremely competitive prices on mobile phone, gas, electric, phone and broadband. Many customers save huge amounts across the year on their utilities, especially if they take all 4 or 5 of the above mentioned which affords them Gold Status membership leading to even more savings and benefits.

Personally, from an individual stand point, I wouldn’t recommend a business like this if I didn’t have or see first hand evidence that it did what it said. Since May 2010 we met with our local distributer, Paul Jennings who introduced us to the savings we would be getting. We’ve remained customers ever since, each month we have saved pounds and pounds on our gas and electric totalling to hundreds over the 30 odd months we’ve been a customer.

Savings aside, we’ve been mightily impressed with the level of service from Paul, and the UK based call centre is manned with clear speaking individuals who handle your call superbly. Our bill comes monthly in one easy to read single bill, and an additional service called the CashBack card has saved us hundreds again on our weekly shopping in Sainsbury’s among other high street retailers on the CashBack card, we once had a bill for just 97 pence.

With the UK continuing to tighten its belt, we need to do the same, and it’s savings like the Utility Warehouse Discount Club produces that make life that little bit easier.

To contact Paul Jennings, your local distributor please call him on his free phone number, 0800 840 2457 for an informal chat. He’ll be able to show you how much you can save.
