10 Thing For Singles To Do on Valentine’s Day

It’s one of those times of the year when everywhere you look there are hearts and flowers and gooey sentiments but through choice or not, you will be without a special someone to share the day (and night) with.

That doesn’t mean you have to feel sad or lonely, instead think about how this day has become so hyped up because of the commercialism of some shops (especially supermarkets it seems).  Remember, you don’t have to try and please someone else and spend a shedload of money in the process.  You can have a fun or relaxing day and evening doing what you want to do.  If you’re still feeling a bit low keep reading as we have the answer and at the end we hope you’ll be feeling uplifted and free to do what makes you happy.

  1. Contact other single friends and arrange a get-together, either at one of your homes or at a restaurant or karaoke bar and have fun celebrating being footloose and fancy free.
  2. Being single means you don’t have to wait to see if that certain someone is going to treat you and being upset when they don’t get it right – treat yourself to a spa day and immerse yourself in being pampered.  If that’s a bit too much then why not book a massage or manicure and pedicure with Jane daVera Lee, who will even come to you and you can enjoy the same pampering at a fraction of the cost without even having to go outstide! https://bit.ly/2DVOHUS
  3. Exercise apparently makes us feel happy so join a walking group then wrap up warmly and get out and blow the cobwebs away.  Or join a yoga class, Zumba or swim.
  4. If staying in and being warm and cosy is more your style then invite friends over for nibbles and drinks, put on some great music, dance around or make cocktails.
  5. Go to the cinema with a friend (or on your own) or stay in and watch films, it doesn’t matter if it’s rom coms or horror movies just make sure you have a good selection of naughty but nice munchies.  Or get a few friends to bring over to your place their favourite films (or watch them on Netflix) and you can all become film critics over hot chocolate and ice cream.
  6. Make a friend’s day by offering to babysit so they can escape and they can have some precious one to one time.
  7. Take this opportunity of some ‘me’ time to do something you love but maybe don’t usually have time for like getting out your sewing machine and making something for you or someone else, take up knitting (it’s cool to knit now), paint something or somewhere you love in oils, acrylics, pastels or watercolours – it doesn’t matter what medium or what it’s like, no one has to see it afterwards but it’s great escapism.
  8. Spend the day donating your time to people in unfortunate circumstances, you could visit an orphanage, a hospital or a care home for the elderly, they’d love your chat and energy.
  9. If you really need some unconditional love then sign up on ‘borrow my doggy’ which is a website that allows you to look after someone’s dog for walks, weekends or holidays. https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/
  10. Write a ‘thankful list’ this is a list of all the things which you are grateful or thankful for having, it could be getting over a nasty illness and you’re now feeling good, a new hair style, a career that’s going well, a mum or dad who loves you no-matter-what, your friends, your dog or cat, a holiday you’re looking forward to, write anything really that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
Remember, you’re gorgeous, independent and strong – so what if it’s Valentines Day!
