A project which turns the town of Henley into an enormous ’living’ advent calendar is the latest winner of a Big Society Award Prime Minister David Cameron has announced.
Radio presenter Mike Read is hosting a special one-night-only fundraising evening at the Kenton Theatre, on Sunday 13 October. The proceeds from the event will benefit two Henley charities – the Kenton for Keeps Campaign and The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children.
An extra special night of entertainment, treats and delights will be held at Bix Manor on Midsummer’s night – 21 June – to raise funds for Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice.
The event called 'A Summer Delight' is organised by Karen Hilton, 51, whose partner Robin Samson was cared for at the hospice before his death from cancer in July last year at the age of 54.
Sue Ryder celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and to celebrate we are offering people the chance to sponsor a maple, beech or hornbeam tree at the Sue Ryder Henley Woodland for £120.
