Absolutely top notch establishment. From the valet parking our car, to the subtle enquiry for the occasion that resulted in a surprise celebratory gourmet chocolate feast in our room, it was special and we were made to feel special. Kris, who runs reception and his engaging staff were just some names and people. The quietness of the heated pool, early morning spa to ourselves, turning down of beds and an incredible breakfast. And managing our check out whilst allowing us to remain as guests for our late afternoon flight. All in all, highly recommended and I would not stay anywhere else in Guernsey.

OGH as it is called in Guernsey was 5 star excellence. The staff from the Manager, Andrew downwards were all so kind, efficient, and helpful. We are a very elderly couple and were looked after and assisted with nothing too much trouble.
As well as the Manager arranging for a toileting aid to go in the bathroom, when I saw the new shower it was clear glass with no handles. We spoke to Andrew because I would not use it without a handle so two temporary ones were fitted. However they were not very successful so the next day the engineers fitted a proper chrome handle and Andrew was pleased that I had drawn this to his attention so he intends to put handles in all the new showers.
Decor of the restaurant - part conservatory was lovely and it was so nice to have tables by the window looking out to the gardens. Breakfast was a feast to behold so it was hard what to choose. Evening dinner was also nicely presented. Room service was exceptionaly good - a nice selection of sandwiches and a bottle of wine when England versus Spain was on and on our last night we had fish and chips with wine in a bucket in our room.

Quite possibly, in 50 years of travelling the world, this is the one place that makes us tick all the boxes. History and position apart, the room was exceptional and beautifully decorated, and the "bistro" area with its fresh green-and-white ambience mixed well with the colonial legacy evident elsewhere. But what made the visit so memorable was the truly genuine enthusiastic and helpful spirit of the staff. The team spirit is very obvious from the smiling faces. Congratulations to all of them, but in particular to Kris on the front desk for a spirited arrival greeting, to Roberto, and to Alessandro who looked after us in the dining area. Great job, everyone!

The hotel is charming, blending historic charm with modern comfort. The suite was perfect our family and we enjoyed the seaview from our balcony .
The main restaurant was delicious, we recommend the breakfast with large choice.

The atmosphere of the Pension is a call to travel with a refined decoration. We warmly recommend this Pension which deserves its 5 stars for the professionalism and friendliness of all its staff. The room was splendid and spacious. All the necessary comfort is present. And the Pension is conveniently located in the heart of Saint Peter.

The OGH is the best. I booked this hotel because I needed somewhere that was close to facilities & walks - this hotels was everything & more . The staff were amazingly friendly & helpful our room was so comfortable & the food didn’t disappoint. Will certainly be return ing

I booked online for a long weekend for my birthday. I never received a confirmation, so contacted the hotel and was assured my booking was on the system. Welcome was warm, with a lovely cold glass of fizz. Room wasn't ready but we had arrived super early. Mid-afternoon we checked in and had a lovely tour of the hotel. We viewed the Brassiere menu and didn't inspire so took advice from our taxi driver and ate all nights at his suggested restaurants in St Peter Port (Sorrento and Pier 17 amongst them). We had a variety of issues with our room, which I informed the staff about and they were resolved (mainly) immediately. I wrote to Andrew afterward highlighting the issues which I don't think one should encounter at a five-star establishment, and received a very nice response. We didn't indulge in the spa but did use the pool a couple of times, lovely clean towels and service around the pool.
So overall, a great stay . The staff make this hotel, they are all so welcoming and friendly.

Perfect long lunch! A group of six friends went for a long lunch yesterday. One couple were guests, otherwise we wouldn’t have discovered it. The food was fabulous. Especially the crab cakes and the avocado hummus starter, the fish of the day and the chocolate brownie dessert. We stayed so long chatting and drinking that we had sandwiches for supper as well. They were also all excellent. Extensive wine menu. The outstanding staff made it a very memorable occasion.

My wife and I recently stayed at Old Government House for 3 nights for a wedding.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were impressed by how friendly and accommodating all the staff were, how clean the hotel was and how efficient the service was.
Our room, though on the small side, was extremely comfortable and had a fantastic view over the hotel swimming pool and the port. It was efficiently serviced twice a day.
The breakfast menu was extensive and the food tasty and of good quality.
We look forward to visiting again before too long.

We had dinner one night and the food was simple but tasty and the team attentive.
We would consider coming back, but its parent company needs to spend some serious cash. The hotel feels like it needs some love and attention (investment) it’s maintained and clean but not like other Red Carnation hotels we have visited. Maybe due to the fact it’s in a seasonal location?

Our second stay at this amazing hotel and we cannot fault it in any way. From when we arrived to be greeted with a glass of procesco, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were staying with old friends. The room was amazing, very spacious and spotlessly cleaned every day. Like last year, it does seen a little unfair to name staff when all were exceptional, but we have to say a big thank you to Andrew the driver, Christina and Stuart front of house and Alice in the breakfast room, who were all great. And sorry to see Tom no longer there! Andrew, thank you again for a fantastic stay and for having such an amazing team of staff, we are sure you are ver6 proud of them all. Hope to stay again next year.

A mini break staying at the OGH was everything I could possible have hoped for and more. Travelling on my own with a disabled family member can throw up a number of challenges. Our experience exceeded our high expectations.
The rooms were comfortable and the food excellent. But more than that the staff worked tirelessly to do all in their power to ensure we had a lovely stay. They showed great attention to detail were personable and nothing was too much h trouble.
It was a great pleasure to have stayed, even if the weather had forgotten it was summer!

Not really 5 star. Entrance misleading we drove and could not park, the very small lay by area would have blocked several cars behind on anns place, only single carriage way we drove off & promptly got lost. The room allocated,107, was not 5 star, the route from the lift was down a long corridor and then from a corner accessed via a tortuous spiral stairway further& two steps to the door. My wife is not disabled but with a heart condition found this, as the week went on a problem. No where on the website is it flagged that some areas were difficult to access, even I found it somewhat intimidating. We never thought for one minute that we should have flagged this up when booking & not to the extent of requesting a " disabled " room. The room itself by 5 star standards poor huge heavy sofa type furniture directly in front of the bay window and in front a large heavy type of coffee table marked and stained to a large extent. Early morning calls missed on three occasions. Incredibly the evening Brasserie menus were the same every day & told that they never change, 5 star never! The staff however were excellent apart from one incidence on reception who could obviously understand our taxi booking request. Particularly of note were concierge Roberto & Langa Breakfasts were a highlight good choices and could not be faulted and of course the excellent Allessandro who is a great asset to the OGH. Another couple we befriended had similar views & even described much of the adornments as (Tat ) Would we recommend most definitely not, stay again no, we have visited Guernsey many times & had far better hotels at a fraction of the cost at OGH, this was pushing the boat out for a special occasion so bitterly disillusioned and upset. Our stay at OGH last weekend was fabulous. The service and quality of the food was excellent and in particular we would like to mention Andrew who couldn’t do enough to help us and even fitted in a last minute 2 hour tour of the island on Sunday morning before we flew back in the afternoon.
Kris was very helpful on the front desk sorting dinner arrangements and Mario was amazing in the bar with his service and a smile !
An amazing team all round - the 6 of us had a great time and we will be returning.

On arrival I was very disappointed with our room. It was very small and the air-conditioning did not work. The window didn’t open very far and outside the window was scaffolding and building rubbish. It was unbearably hot. There was a wobbly table in the small bay window with tea and coffee making facilities but you had to move the kettle to the dressing table to plug it in. All a bit shabby for a 5 star. However, I rang reception and we were moved to another room immediately. The concierge that helped us needs a special mention as he was so helpful with information about local tours and buses and nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed for 3 nights. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and food was lovely. Service was excellent. We also ate at the curry club and although it was ok, I would not eat there again. My lamb curry tasted lovely but some of the meat was tough. I did question the 5 stars at times as some of the furnishings are a bit tired and the initial experience of being allocated a poor room didn’t help. Thank you to all the staff who clearly help make this hotel special.

My newly wed husband and I had a wonderful celebration of canapés with friends and family. We were situated in the beautiful Olive Grove restaurant overlooking St Peter Port. We were blessed with sunny weather and the food and staff could not have been nicer. The organisation was excellent and we were promised an event room if the weather was inclement. It was all a huge surprise for my family and friends as they were unaware of us getting married that morning and the staff kept the secret perfectly. In particular, although we would like to thank everyone involved, we would like to thank (Prince) Andrew for his kindness shown to my mum who had difficulty parking her car and Martin,and Thobani for their jolly banter throughout the cocktails and canapés. Many thanks again OGH you did us proud.

We attended the cocktail-making class at (I believe in George's bar) for a birthday celebration, and it was a fantastic experience! Shaminee, our instructor, was absolutely superb. She not only taught us how to make delicious cocktails but also made the entire experience incredibly enjoyable and fun. Her knowledge and enthusiasm truly made the class special. The cocktails were also absolutely delicious! We tried to replicate Shaminee's cocktail making but she's in a class of her own. We were also served snacks for the class which were also stunning! The salmon and the crab were so fresh and tasty!

The hotel itself is beautiful, and although we didn't stay overnight, the ambiance and the exceptional service from the staff made a strong impression.
