Dans le cadre d'une réunion professionnelle nous avons été reçus dans une salle de séminaire cosy dans le parfait esprit "British"... un personnel professionnel et attentif. Très bel endroit que je recommande 👍👍👍😉

Wow, wow, wow, we had a four night stay at the beginning of May and can only speak highly of this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and a couple of tiny issues we had, were rectified immediately. Service in the bar and restaurant was great, staff in the restaurant helpful with local information and the food is so good. We had an afternoon tea, a lunch, breakfast everyday and also a taster of the lunchtime grill - all of the food is excellent, thanks to the chef and his team. Would recommend this hotel to everyone and would definitely like to return for another visit.

Beautiful dinner experienced in this lovely restaurant.
The Restaurant manager and Pamela have been super top.
Super attentive.
The hotel itself is a gem, nothing to moan about.
The quality of our meals was absolutely incredible.
The brisket dhowed a great quality of meat sourced, the fillet was cooked perfectly.
St Emilion wine helped us to keep enjoying this meal.
We ended with a fantastic super tasty pannacotta, wow !!!
Definitely we will come back!

We were disappointed as our luxury Queen room was small and only had a double bed. We thought it was more a three star. There was a stain on the carpet and a gap around the bath overflow and the whole room was tired. we expressed our concerns at the time but were told that they were fully booked

Stayed one night here before going on to Sark. Wow! Amazing place. The service was exceptional. Roberto the customer relations manager was very friendly and showed us round the hotel on arrival and explained the services provided. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a refreshing warmth and welcoming atmosphere when we arrived.
The food was very good. We all had dinner in the restaurant that evening and couldn’t fault it.
Breakfast was plentiful with a vast range to cater for everyone’s taste buds.
The hotel was very clean, well maintained and managed. The weather was good and there is the benefit of an outside pool area.
We will definitely go back again when visiting back to Sark but will also stay a few more days at this hotel to feel the real benefits it has to offer.

5 days in Guernsey at the out standing Old Government House, we consider ourselves considerably well travelled, and the staff at the OGH were exceptional, there is a saying that people make places and this was one of those experiences,
Will definitely be back.

This beautiful hotel set in old buildings is a haven of peace and everything is perfect. First of all, the location, slightly set back but a stone's throw from the shopping streets and the port. Very quiet, with a small garden and a heated outdoor swimming pool which allows you to swim in the slightest ray of sunshine. Excellent breakfast, even the croissants are as good as in France. All the staff are friendly and available, with special thanks to Kris, who made our stay even more pleasant by finding solutions to our small problems.
Of course it's not cheap, but for us it was a special occasion and we didn't regret our choice.

this 5* hotel was booked for a 60th birthday surprise for myself and upon first entering we thought wow as the foyer is stunning but we encourred several issues with our first room 316 ,the classic double room was very small and tight for space on right side of bed only a tight small gap to get in and out of the bed but main issue was no hot water and smelly black water coming up thro bath plug hole when basin tap turned on ,this was swiftly reported and acted on and we were then put in a suite 322 which upon first entering at 11pm seemed lovely but in daylight lots of issues noticed .mouldy window frames and curtains, stains and dirty marks on fabric covered walls ,dusty skirting boards and ledges, chipped glass top on dressing table ,make up marks on dressing gown ,no soap in bathroom, lots of chipped and marked paintwork and a large glass droplet on dusty chandelier missing ,on a positive the bed was very comfortable .
The breakfast was lovely first morning and all the team helpful and friendly, 2nd morning not so good as we had minor issue with being greeted in a grumpy manner and getting a table and my breakfast overcooked ,I did get offerred another eventually but my husband had finished his so declined .the 3rd morning was better but the 4th service was very slow and had to chase up coffee and toast after 40 mins wait and it was no busier than previous mornings .
The large curtains in the brassiere are very stained as is the carpet in a couple of places .
When we left mid afternoon on Thursday as we said goodbye we hardly got a goodbye in return let alone a hope you enjoyed your stay have a safe trip !
None of these issues should be encountered in a 5* hotel especially at the prices ! There is also a 12.5% charge automatically placed on anything you purchase .
The hotel needs detailed inspection and work in places and whilst I appreciate this is an old building, if you claim to be 5* then the whole place needs to reflect that and be totally immacualate.
This has left us very disappointed and me in particular extremely deflated about what should have been an amazing experience for my birthday

We stayed for 4 nights on an excellent package including breakfast, a dinner and an afternoon tea. The hotel is brilliantly run, nicely situated, very calming and genteel. It forms a central part of the holiday, in a lovely town, on a lovely island.

I cannot more highly recommend this hotel - yes it is beautiful elegant 5* hotel and in a wonderful location but rarely have I found such a committed team who really understand service - Alessandro Piga, the restaurant manager is so attentive and makes sure his team follow his example, we met Pamela and Shamilee who are delightful as is Philli in reception - these are the names I made note of but everyone we met gets it! The room was so lovely. It is so very unusual. Very well done Red Carnation and OGH. It was a big birthday celebration - I could not have wished for such a beautiful stay. Thank you so very much and I wish you all the very best in the future.

My husband & I stayed at the Old Government House Hotel in w/c 22nd May 2024 to celebrate our up and coming 44th wedding anniversary. We are so pleased that we did, this hotel is the best 5 star hotel we have ever stayed at.
The service was out of this world, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and management. We have never seen staff so happy in their job, everyone was pleased to help, welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable, there are many hotels who could use the OGH as a role model to how they should run their hotels.
The food at the brasserie was outstanding both at breakfast & evening meal as was the service received. I also really enjoyed our afternoon tea, which met all of my expectations and more.
We will certainly be going back next year to stay at the OGH.
We would also like to thank all the staff for making our stay such a special occasion, you are a huge credit to your industry, well done. Caroline & Jon

We arranged a 4 nights for the price of 3 package with Condor ferries and had a wonderful time at OGH. I used to stay at the hotel nearly 50 years ago when I was visiting the island as a medical rep. It’s obviously changed a lot and there are now 2 restaurants -one Indian. We only ate in the main restaurant for breakfast and on one night dinner. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices - buffet for cereals etc and a la carte for main course. The quality of food was first class. We had dinner one evening and were disappointed with the vegetables being a bit too much under done and not value for money at £136 for two courses including service charge. We ate at Le Nautique in the town twice - recommended by the hotel. The service was first class and it was nice to see the manager serving at breakfast on a number of mornings. The nationalities of the staff were from different parts of the world -all polite and very helpful - particularly Tom, Andrew and Christina. The tiny car park is a nightmare for a big car and very difficult to get out of too. Andrew assisted with that. Amazingly for a 5 star hotel there is no EV charging point or at their sister hotel. I went to Le Friquet garden centre for free charging while having a very good lunch. We had room 107 which was difficult to find but close to the heated outdoor swimming pool which I liked for a swim before breakfast. The room had very old fashioned decor and a relatively small TV with limited channels. 5 star hotels are now providing, iPlayer, Netflix, You Tube etc as well as a big range of TV channels. The bathroom was surprisingly short on toiletries -cotton buds, make up pads etc. What we did like was the blue light in the ceiling for night visits which avoided switching on the main bright lights. The bed was very comfortable with a thick mattress cover. Our friend who accompanied us enjoyed her stay too. The pre arrival form needs to be configured so it can be filled in on line and sent back. I don’t have a printer to print the form off.

As per previous reviews, the staff were obviously well trained and so friendly. They get the right balance between being attentive but not over bearing. Nothing seemed too much for them.
The room was very clean and the food we had was first class. Afternoon tea was so delicious.
Stewart gave us good information about having a good island coach tour and arranged this for us.
Whilst waiting for our lift to collect us to take us to the airport Andrew got us seated out on the terrace so my husband could hear the bag pipes that were playing outside.
This is by far the best hotel that we have stayed in and we felt that the staff all got on well together as there was a lovely atmosphere.
We are already talking about returning again.

I stayed here for a week on my own
It was my first solo holiday since my husband died last year. As a 5 star hotel it was as expected very luxurious but what made it so very special was the wonderful staff. Eating in a dining room on your own can be daunting but the staff were attentive, friendly and caring. They made sure everything was just so. Than you all

Amazing hotel. The staff is attentive and competent; he took care of everything for the rental of electric bikes, brought right outside the hotel for the day. We eat very well in the restaurant, the breakfast buffet is complete and excellent. I recommend having "tea time" (an assortment of savory sandwiches and scones) in the tea room. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is well located (near the ferry). The spa is well equipped and the treatments are of high quality (I particularly recommend the very personalized facial massages).

My friend and I occupied separate rooms. Accommodation was impeccable, spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was ample and plentiful with a wide choice. Service was first rate. Without exception, staff throughout the hotel were charming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, without being obsequious. Bar possessed a wide range of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Pretty garden. Comfy and inviting common areas. A couple of wet days rendered this a cosy haven with rain beating down outside. The in-house Curry restaurant was an unexpected treasure. (Coming from London which hosts some stellar Indian restaurants, I doubted if this would be a match). However, I was proved wrong! Every chosen dish was uniquely flavoursome with a South African twist. Although there was no south Indian style food (i.e. dosas and idli) on offer, the meal (portions were large) was presented in separate thallis (in south Indian style). This presentation was alluring. Congrats to the Curry Chef. Very much enjoyed my stay here and this, my first visit to the Channel Islands, was a truly pleasant occasion.

It was an unforgettable experience. A very big thank you to Alessandro Piga, who went more than the extra mile to make our stay such an enjoyable one and the hospitality we received, he did everything he could to make our stay comfortable and memorable, a true ambassador of your hotel and of the island, OGH is truly fortunate to have someone like him, our many thanks to him again and all the staff.

Had Brunch at the hotel. Not as good as previously .

We made a simple order but the waitress returned 3 times to check on our order which she had got wrong. otherwise excellent service. could i suggest that the staff write down the orders

when brunch arrived the poached eggs were over cooked and hard.

on looking at the bill after we got home we had also been overcharged as the bill included items we had not ordered.

i still think the brunch was good value and tasty and the overall service very good.

The OGH is kept very clean and the staff look after clients very well.
