Have stayed in many hotels some of which were very high end but none can compare with our stay at OGH. The service was excellent and was provided by friendly professional staff especially those in the restaurant. The swimming pool was great and the ambience of the whole hotel was very welcoming. Will definitely return.

Very enjoyable stay celebrating 45th wedding anniversary. Our suite was fabulous, the hotel and gardens were beautiful. The food was excellent. Cream tea in the garden a must. All staff were friendly, warm. Professional and courteous.

A very good hotel whose prime asset is the superb quality of their staff.Having travelled worldwide and stayed in hotels of comparable status their staff are probably the best which we have experienced demonstrating friendliness and helpful assistance
In particular we would mention Pamela whose contract is coming to an end, hopefully at some stage it will be renewed as along with others she is one of the hotels prime assets

We stayed for 4 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We were treated wonderfully from the moment we arrived, everyone helped to make our celebration so special. The food was amazing and all the staff were helpful, polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and we hope to return in the near future. Our only issue was that we wished we had booked a bigger room but we will know to do that for next time.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise in a very understated way. It starts with the staff, who are very well trained in having a “can do” attitude in making every effort to ensure a proper and enjoyable stay. Not everything went perfectly on our trip and it’s rare for any hotel to get everything 100 percent right. But our constructive feedback was taken to heart by Govind and Kris with the guest experience crew and it seemed as if they genuinely cared about getting things right.

For me, that’s what a 5-star experience is supposed to entail above all. And this hotel makes you feel as if no request will go unanswered.

As a qualifier, my “5 star” rating and that which the hotel has attained professionally is not trying to say that the amenities of this hotel are akin to The Ritz in London or Paris or Le Manoir in Oxfordshire or some Relais & Chateau properties worldwide. The decor and furnishings at OGH are dated and worn in places and there is a dampness felt throughout the building as a result of being so close to the ocean and the muggy climate in general.

As mentioned, there were also some glitches along the way in services provided.

But If say part of the charm of the hotel is one of faded elegance. It has an older, distinguished vibe even if all of the fabric within it is not spanking new. I like the charm of the place. And I think it reflects the character of Guernsey quite well. I wouldn’t expect to see a Ritz on this island. But the place was good enough for Victor Hugo to live here 15 years and you can see why. As a pro writer myself (not just an unpaid one on TripAdvisor) I could envision living in Guernsey and the OGH becoming a favored hangout. As many have mentioned, the food at the hotel is rather good and the vibe at the bar has a stateliness to it, albeit with a friendly staff that goes out of its way to accommodate.

We booked a Sark Suite and loved the sea view from our enclosed balcony with a motorized retractable window. It got better with each passing day and I miss it now. A lot of tourists tend to bypass Guernsey for the higher end trappings of Jersey and I can understand why. But there was a genuineness to Guernsey and the OGH that I won’t soon forget and that would bring me back to that island and hotel for return stays. I could not imagine staying anyplace else and having the same feel, especially given its location in the heart of everything, but set back just enough from the port area for a quiet, refined feel.

Again, it’s easy for any hotel to fix technical glitches. It is not easy to fix the training of an entire staff and educating them on what five star service is supposed to look and feel like.

OGH has the service part down pat. The rest is just random stuff that a good attitude can remedy. If you are going to Guernsey, you won’t find a better five-star sampling than this hotel.

Amazing hotel in the heart of St.Peter Port. The food and spa are fantastic. I had a lovely breakfast at the main restaurant. There were a lot of options. The food was very good. I also had a massage in the spa. The staff was very friendly and professional. I will definitely be back! I highly recommend staying here when visiting Guernsey.

Superb service. Every interaction with staff was 10/10. Alesandro and Satish especially were uniquely helpful. Location also good for port. Taxis an issue generally in Guernsey. Rooms dated. Seaview was limited by roof. 1st floor rooms ++noisy if events in ballroom below till 23:30. Breakfast also great.

Had lunch on the terrace. Lovely food, charming building, great views. Highly recommend. Didn’t stay at the hotel so can’t rate the bedrooms but the bar area was lovely. Food was very reasonable for the quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Kris Raggoo, the Manager, went above & beyond to make sure we had a good time. The staff were all very polite and friendly. The hotel offers everything you need and more. The location is very good, if at the top of a short hill but in the main town. Highly recommended. Will go back!

This hotel is excellent. We had a short 3 night break with them and despite the changeable weather and the steep hill to climb to reach it from the town centre ( neither of which was the hotel’s fault....!)we couldn’t recommend it higher. The staff were so kind and helpful, especially Kris Raggoo who really went the extra mile to make our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We were lucky enough to have a gorgeous room with a balcony and sea views which was icing on the cake!Food wise- breakfast was extremely good as was the light lunch menu served in the very pleasant olive grove garden Sadly dinner was disappointing though- pricey and not great. That said-To sum up- this hotel is gorgeous - we would definitely go back and highly recommend it.

Malcolm at the Crown Club couldn’t be more helpful or more fun - and most of all is an amazingly good mixologist. Definitely worth a visit to enjoy the atmosphere and Malcolm’s cocktails………….. do make the time to go there and sip some delicious drinks in elegant surroundings.

We ate in the Brasserie, where the choice of food was extensive, looked amazing and had wonderful flavours.
Staff where extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Small changes and ingredient swaps were easily completed which made the lovely meal for us both magical and left us wanting more.

The best fine dining food in St Peter’s port Guernsey.

If five stars are awarded in hospitality management for making guests feel special and totally cared for during their stay, then Andrew and his wonderful team are fully deserving of that accolade. From glass of fizz on arrival to warm words at departure, you cannot help but be impressed and want to return for more. Breakfasts of the highest quality and tasteful public areas of real character, history and charm were two of the highlights. My wife and I have rarely been greeted so politely and by so many highly professional, experienced and enthusiastic staff as we have here. A huge thank you to you all for working so hard to create an experience which is more akin to being part of a family rather than just another customer.

It is true that you arrive as a guest, leave as a friend and come back as family. Many thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed for 4 nights at The OGH and had a great experience. The service across the whole hotel was exceptional with the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and Brasserie meals were excellent. Parking was offsite but valet parking available and perfectly located for St Peter’s Port and 4 minutes from the ferries. Gym is excellent and a nice outdoor pool. Would totally recommend this Red Carnation Hotel

A beautiful hotel matched by the staff who are approachable professional and look after you extremely well. Stayed for a weekend, unfortunately our first room a Queen room no 314 was not what we expected at the rear of the hotel with a pretty dire view small and could do with updating. Once we contacted reception we were moved to a lovely room 218 with great views of the pool sea and harbour at a cost. Breakfasts were well presented cooked to order plus plenty of choice with the most wonderful and friendly staff. We dined in the specialist curry restaurant, the menu is slightly limited but the food was amazing again coupled with a terrific manager and staff. The only downside was our last night which was a birthday treat which unfortunately was not up to standard in the Trattoria restaurant, short staffed long waits even though it was not full until the manager intervened and sorted for us not before we has to complain about the service. This did ruin what would have been a perfect stay. Order your taxis at reception if your going to the port or airport. The hotel is at the top of a hill so not best for elderly people with limited walking abilities.

We had a wonderful stay in this charming, elegant hotel. Whilst the hotel is obviously beautiful, steeped in history, it's the team of people who seem to work harmoniously together who made our stay so very memorable. Always happy to help with a smile, impeccable manners, engaging and friendly, always had a little time to pass the time of day with laughter and so very attentive their guests. They created a warm, relaxed, welcoming atmosphere unlike anywhere we've stayed before and this must very much reflect on the hotel's ethos. I know you shouldn't have your favourites but Govind & Keiran were exceptional. We were sorry to leave. Our sincere thanks to everyone for making our stay a very happy one!

I've stayed here before but this stay was definitely inferior to previous excellent experiences. Post-Covid and in a recession, my expensive room, particularly the carpet, looked a bit shabby. Service and food in the restaurant is still high quality though. Reception was a bit monosyllabic and just not interested which contrasted completely with my previous two visits.

Just been to the Curry House at OGH, what a fab experience. The staff, the food, all tasted so wonderful. Siya, our host is from Durban so it was fun reminiscing with him. Lovejoy the sommelier was very knowledgeable but We just had such a lovely time and as we live on the island we shall be back!!!

The staff are excellent. We only ate in one evening and the meal was very good. The morning layout for breakfast was more than you wanted, also an excellent cooked breakfast menu.
Comfortable beds and I loved the soft pillows, perfect for me.
The hotel is based in St. Peter Port so extremely central to town but not too near to any noise. In all very relaxing.
Guernsey is a lovely island but I'm biased as my Grandmother lived there for many years and I stayed at her place for quite a while. Sark and Herm a short boat trip away. GO you'll enjoy the island very much.

We stayed for one week 1st to 8th July. It is a fantastic hotel and well deserving of its 5 star status. From when we arrived, greeted with a glass of proccesco, to when we checked out, we could not fault the hotel, staff or food. Room was beautiful, and breakfasts amazing with a huge choice for continental and cooked. Location was great, very central, and no trouble with car parking as usually there was someone available to park for us.

All the staff without exception were so friendly but professional, greeting us warmly every time we got back to the hotel. It would be unfair to pick out individual names as there are so many staff behind the scenes, but the manager Andrew should be very proud of his staff. He leads by example and was so welcoming and friendly to us, and from what we saw, to his staff too.

We would recommend without hesitation and we would go back tomorrow if we could. Will definitely return at some point.

Thank you to everyone, you were amazing!
