If five stars are awarded in hospitality management for making guests feel special and totally cared for during their stay, then Andrew and his wonderful team are fully deserving of that accolade. From glass of fizz on arrival to warm words at departure, you cannot help but be impressed and want to return for more. Breakfasts of the highest quality and tasteful public areas of real character, history and charm were two of the highlights. My wife and I have rarely been greeted so politely and by so many highly professional, experienced and enthusiastic staff as we have here. A huge thank you to you all for working so hard to create an experience which is more akin to being part of a family rather than just another customer.

This hotel is so worthy of its 5 star rating. The staff are so kind and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. I would really encourage you to go there and enjoy their fabulous breakfasts, elegant surroundings and wonderful ambiance. It is true that you arrive as a guest, leave as a friend and come back as family. Many thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed for 4 nights at The OGH and had a great experience. The service across the whole hotel was exceptional with the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and Brasserie meals were excellent. Parking was offsite but valet parking available and perfectly located for St Peter’s Port and 4 minutes from the ferries. Gym is excellent and a nice outdoor pool. Would totally recommend this Red Carnation Hotel

A beautiful hotel matched by the staff who are approachable professional and look after you extremely well. Stayed for a weekend, unfortunately our first room a Queen room no 314 was not what we expected at the rear of the hotel with a pretty dire view small and could do with updating. Once we contacted reception we were moved to a lovely room 218 with great views of the pool sea and harbour at a cost. Breakfasts were well presented cooked to order plus plenty of choice with the most wonderful and friendly staff. We dined in the specialist curry restaurant, the menu is slightly limited but the food was amazing again coupled with a terrific manager and staff. The only downside was our last night which was a birthday treat which unfortunately was not up to standard in the Trattoria restaurant, short staffed long waits even though it was not full until the manager intervened and sorted for us not before we has to complain about the service. This did ruin what would have been a perfect stay. Order your taxis at reception if your going to the port or airport. The hotel is at the top of a hill so not best for elderly people with limited walking abilities.

We had a wonderful stay in this charming, elegant hotel. Whilst the hotel is obviously beautiful, steeped in history, it's the team of people who seem to work harmoniously together who made our stay so very memorable. Always happy to help with a smile, impeccable manners, engaging and friendly, always had a little time to pass the time of day with laughter and so very attentive their guests. They created a warm, relaxed, welcoming atmosphere unlike anywhere we've stayed before and this must very much reflect on the hotel's ethos. I know you shouldn't have your favourites but Govind & Keiran were exceptional. We were sorry to leave. Our sincere thanks to everyone for making our stay a very happy one!

I've stayed here before but this stay was definitely inferior to previous excellent experiences. Post-Covid and in a recession, my expensive room, particularly the carpet, looked a bit shabby. Service and food in the restaurant is still high quality though. Reception was a bit monosyllabic and just not interested which contrasted completely with my previous two visits.

Just been to the Curry House at OGH, what a fab experience. The staff, the food, all tasted so wonderful. Siya, our host is from Durban so it was fun reminiscing with him. Lovejoy the sommelier was very knowledgeable but We just had such a lovely time and as we live on the island we shall be back!!!

The staff are excellent. We only ate in one evening and the meal was very good. The morning layout for breakfast was more than you wanted, also an excellent cooked breakfast menu.
Comfortable beds and I loved the soft pillows, perfect for me.
The hotel is based in St. Peter Port so extremely central to town but not too near to any noise. In all very relaxing.
Guernsey is a lovely island but I'm biased as my Grandmother lived there for many years and I stayed at her place for quite a while. Sark and Herm a short boat trip away. GO you'll enjoy the island very much.

We didn't stay here but my wife gave a talk in one of the meeting rooms on Adhd. The staff were helpful. The room was large and bright and the AV equipment worked 💪

We stayed for one week 1st to 8th July. It is a fantastic hotel and well deserving of its 5 star status. From when we arrived, greeted with a glass of proccesco, to when we checked out, we could not fault the hotel, staff or food. Room was beautiful, and breakfasts amazing with a huge choice for continental and cooked. Location was great, very central, and no trouble with car parking as usually there was someone available to park for us.

All the staff without exception were so friendly but professional, greeting us warmly every time we got back to the hotel. It would be unfair to pick out individual names as there are so many staff behind the scenes, but the manager Andrew should be very proud of his staff. He leads by example and was so welcoming and friendly to us, and from what we saw, to his staff too.

We would recommend without hesitation and we would go back tomorrow if we could. Will definitely return at some point.

Thank you to everyone, you were amazing!

A great Hotel, staff that goes above and beyond and the most comfortable bed ever!

We stayed for a week in the Governor Suite and it was worth the money. Great balconies and view.
2 separate bathrooms and lots of space - 5 stars for sure.

Breakfast was fabulous and a great selection. Coffee could be a bit better but that’s my only complaint and they made sure mine was brought over from the bar.

Parking was no problem either as the staff kept parking it for us in a safe location just a few minutes away.

We came with two dogs and the sunken garden opposite the hotel was ideal.

Just returned from a business trip, arrived very early at 9am , and asked, but did not expect an early check in, was told by Kris at reception he would try his best, very pleased to be handed the key at 12pm , instead of 3pm, room was very nice and comfortable , waiting staff during the day and night were fantastic, especially Mario, who could not do enough, breakfast was also great, overall very pleased with the hotel and its staff.

This is an excellent hotel, comfortable, homely and very well managed by the GM (who takes an active interest throughout) and every member of his clearly happy and well motivated team. (Red Carnation Hotels are reknowned as "investors in people" so staff are loyal and tend to stay with the employer to everyones benefit).
It is almost incongruous to single out any member of staff for comment but it was good to meet so many people happily taking advantage of an exchange scheme from the Oyster Box Hotel in South Africa. Our particular interactions were with Anele in reception and Pamela, Tanusha and Nokuthr La in the Brasserie, to whom we say "thank you" for your professionalism and personalities.

Gin tasting…highly recommend! Malcom our host was so knowledgeable and friendly. The gins we tried were delicious and he had hand picked herbs etc from the OGH garden to accompany the drink. The environment is gorgeous too as it takes place in the crown club

One night only, such a pity, could have stayed for a month. The friendliest but most professional staff you could wish to find. The food is out of this world. The location has wonderful views and only a short walk downhill into the port coming back up is not a problem as you can choose various lanes that are not too steep. Bed was huge and extremely comfortable and the enitre hotel is interesting and has a wonderful ambience.

My husband and I had a fabulous time here. Guernsey is a wonderful destination and I can't imagine a more perfect place on the island to stay. We pulled up in our car from the ferry, unsure of what to do, then had the car immediately taken off our hands for valet parking and were greeted with sparkling wine and a wonderful, warm welcome. The hotel is luxurious and the food is superb, but it really was, for us, the staff who made our stay so special. Everyone working there whom we encountered was engaging, interesting, and such a pleasure to get to know a little bit. There is loads to see in Guernsey, as well as Herm and Sark islands, easily accessible by ferry. We were at the OGH for 5 nights in June for my birthday and had such a fantastic stay that we came home and immediately booked a shorter say for February for my husband's birthday. The OGH really is an exquisite experience.

Having enjoyed a previous visit we selected a sea facing room this time and had great views onto the harbour and the Castle from the bay windows.
The room was nice and the bathroom had an excellent walk in shower, just what we like. Furnishings are in keeping with the mature style and age of the hotel and comfortable. The only really strange thing occurred on our first night. The housekeeper lowered the Roman blinds while we were at dinner: in the morning I couldn’t get them up, just couldn’t find any mechanism or electric control so when I went down to breakfast I saw reception to ask what I had not understood. Returning to the room after breakfast we found a maintenance crew taking the blinds out as the mechanism simply wasn’t there on the blinds: we were promised they would be completely fixed during the day and indeed at 2 pm the maintenance crew refitted them , this time with the little chain pulley systems in place. How on earth did this situation arise…..did the previous room occupants leave the blinds up all the time? How did the housekeeper get them down on the first night when the mechanism wasn’t there? Totally weird but quickly fixed and this was an example of the excellent service we experienced throughout our stay.
The sandwiches in the conservatory were very good indeed, the breakfasts were excellent, large range of things to eat and top quality, and again always great service.
The swimming pool was warm, clean and not very much used as it was chilly weather and only sunny in the afternoon but that’s British weather.
A most enjoyable stay from which we take away such good memories of all the team working in the hotel and their welcoming faultless service.

Excellent location and a wonderful, warm welcome at this elegant, traditional hotel, steeped in interesting history. Room was ‘snug’ but comfortable and we had a lovely view overlooking gardens and Castle Cornet. Breakfast was top notch! Kris at front of house was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable and always on hand to assist with a cheerful smile. The service was first class overall. Thank you for a perfect stay.
