We attended the cocktail-making class at (I believe in George's bar) for a birthday celebration, and it was a fantastic experience! Shaminee, our instructor, was absolutely superb. She not only taught us how to make delicious cocktails but also made the entire experience incredibly enjoyable and fun. Her knowledge and enthusiasm truly made the class special. The cocktails were also absolutely delicious! We tried to replicate Shaminee's cocktail making but she's in a class of her own. We were also served snacks for the class which were also stunning! The salmon and the crab were so fresh and tasty!
Shaminee is a real asset to the hotel, providing excellent customer service and personalising the experience for each of us. The hotel itself is beautiful, and although we didn't stay overnight, the ambiance and the exceptional service from the staff made a strong impression. I would love to return and stay in the future based on what I saw.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to have a great time while learning something new!
Shaminee is a real asset to the hotel, providing excellent customer service and personalising the experience for each of us. Nous venons de rentrer de nos vacances d'une semaine dans ce bel hôtel. Avec un charme un peu désuet mais très luxueux, nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Leur plus grand atout au OGH est l'ensemble de l'équipe, que se soit en salle, au service, à la réception ou à l'étage, tous sont incroyablement gentil, souriant et serviable. Ils aiment leurs métiers et cela se sent, c'est tellement agréable 😁. Grâce à eux nous nous sommes senti comme chez nous 🥰, MERCI A TOUS. Pour nous avoir tout particulièrement choyé avec beaucoup d'attentions et de professionnalisme, nous remercions Kris (notre sauveur en taxi 😊), Alessandro (Grazie mille per la vostra gentilezza), Shaminee (Miss Gruyère 😋) , Byron (Lord Byron pour nous 😉), Pamela, Juana, Roberto et tant d'autres 🤩. Wow, wow, wow, we had a four night stay at the beginning of May and can only speak highly of this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and a couple of tiny issues we had, were rectified immediately. Service in the bar and restaurant was great, staff in the restaurant helpful with local information and the food is so good. We had an afternoon tea, a lunch, breakfast everyday and also a taster of the lunchtime grill - all of the food is excellent, thanks to the chef and his team. Would recommend this hotel to everyone and would definitely like to return for another visit.

We were disappointed as our luxury Queen room was small and only had a double bed. We thought it was more a three star. There was a stain on the carpet and a gap around the bath overflow and the whole room was tired. we expressed our concerns at the time but were told that they were fully booked

My husband & I stayed at the Old Government House Hotel in w/c 22nd May 2024 to celebrate our up and coming 44th wedding anniversary. We are so pleased that we did, this hotel is the best 5 star hotel we have ever stayed at.
The service was out of this world, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and management. We have never seen staff so happy in their job, everyone was pleased to help, welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable, there are many hotels who could use the OGH as a role model to how they should run their hotels.
The food at the brasserie was outstanding both at breakfast & evening meal as was the service received. I also really enjoyed our afternoon tea, which met all of my expectations and more.
We will certainly be going back next year to stay at the OGH.
We would also like to thank all the staff for making our stay such a special occasion, you are a huge credit to your industry, well done. Caroline & Jon

Just returned back from a four day stay at the OGH with two friends, which I am pleased to say, was a wonderful experience for all. Alessandro and the team were superb from the moment we walked through the doors on Thursday, right the way through to our final breakfast yesterday morning.
No request was to much trouble and was dealt with efficiently but still retaining that personal touch. The food was of the highest standard, from breakfast to the evening meal. The Curry Room was another wonderful suprise and can highly recommend the Lamb.
Some might say that parts of the hotel look a little tired, but we all felt that it has retained it's charm, aspecially with such a large volume of trendy boutique hotels available in the hospitality market. Why not take a step back in time to indulge yourself and soak up the excellent hospitality at the OGH.
Huge thank you to all involved.

Stayed here many times. A grand old Guernsey institution. Great for both holidays and business. If you ever go to the bar or breakfast areas, make sure to check the posters on the walls!

We have been here for 5 days and had an amazing stay. Although on arrival we had a blip with our room it was a queen room and not big enough bed so we were shown to another room which was much better but after an hour we realised the heating wasn’t working and despite the engineer attending it wasn’t able to be fixed! So we moved to another room which sadly didn’t have a sea view, it overlooked scaffolding but was warm and comfortable, it was on the 3rd floor an had no lift to our room. However, the staff are all very attentive, helpful and friendly the Food was amazing with the best breakfast ever! Evening dinner had plenty of choice and was presented as a feast for the eyes and tasted Devine. This trip was to celebrate our 52nd anniversary and was our first trip to the island but we will most definitely be returning to stay here again.
A special mention to one of the dinning managers Allcssandro who really made us feel so special and a fountain of info of everything on the Island thank you for such excellent service.

Stunning Hotel . We stayed in Room 119 which has a lovely sea view. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely. Very comfortable throughout. Close to shops and the port. Perfect for a few nights away. Looking forward to our next stay all ready . .

Just spent 4 nights at this superb hotel, fantastic atmosphere good location, rooms were amazing and spotlessly clean, food was excellent with plenty of choice, all the staff made you feel really welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them. Allesandro in the restaurant was very accommodating and professional at all times and it was nice chatting to Andrew at the front door most days but didn’t manage to say goodbye when we left ! Would not hesitate to return to this wonderful hotel.

We had afternoon tea this afternoon. The service was excellent as were the tea, sandwiches, scones & cakes. I especially want to thank the Chef for providing one of us with a Diabetic afternoon tea. I would not have expected anyone to be able to produce such an excellent low sugar afternoon menu. Excellent value, lovely setting and a great start to early Christmas celebrations. A very special thanks to the Chef.

The OGH is the best hotel in the Channel Islands. We stay two or three times a year. Last week we were in the Sark Suite; it was gorgeous.
