I don't just like Herm Island I love it. The island has more to offer than beaches. It doesn't matter what part of the island you are the views are breathtaking and so idillic. If you were to arrive to the island stressed I guarantee you will leave feeling calm, relaxed and wanting to go straight back. The people that work and live there are so welcoming and friendly. I have been more times than I can count and Herm island will never grow old. I can't can't wait to return with my nephew so a new generation can enjoy this great little island. 😊i
I visited Herm Island in August 2014 for an annual staff summer excursion which included beach activities during the day and a meal at The Grill Room in the evening. Shell beach provided the base for activities, and as ever, it was picturesque and beautifully maintained. The evening meal at the Grill Room was excellent. Not only was the food delicious, it was also great value for money. All together it was a great day out and another day spent in Herm which didn't let us down. I would highly recommend Herm as a destination to anyone.
My wife and I stayed at The White House Hotel on Herm for our 10th wedding anniversary in May 2014. We couldn't of picked a better weekend, stunning weather and the kids cared for back home in Guernsey. After returning from the beach, we enjoyed champagne on our balcony and pre dinner drinks on the lawn followed by a delicious meal in the restaurant. During our stay the hotel staff couldn't do more to make our anniversary as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. I would thoroughly recommend The White House Hotel as the ultimate escape.
Herm is my favourite place in the whole world. Not only is it stunningly beautiful, the beaches are amazing, the views, the crystal clear sea. The campsites are such good fun, with kids running about with new friends and old enjoying roasted marshmallows and playing in their (not so) secret hideout! Jumping off the harbour wall, cold beer at the Mermaid, lovely lunches and dinners at the White House. Lots of sun to top up the 'Herm Burn' and even in the rain playing top trumps under canvas. The self catering cottages which make you feel like you actually live there and many good nights with friends are just some of my many, many happy memories. I feel so lucky that I've 'discovered' Herm, that my children will grow up enjoying Herm and the fact you don't have to fly for 10 hours to this perfect peace of paradise.
Just love Herm we had a wonderful day to celebrate my sons birthday last year and we got the family together for a lovely meal. Very happy memories thank you
Herm island ... Wow Such an amazing place lovely cottages to stay relax and unwind tropical beaches and beautiful walks ... A dream break from the hussle and bussle of life.. One word discribes it . BEAUTIFUL 😊
Herm is just so special, I have never had a disappointing trip, even if the weather isn't its best (which of course it always is in herm!). Just 15mins on the boat means it is hassle free and perfect for a day trip / lunch or longer if you're lucky! You feel like you're on a tropical island, the lack of vehicles and the fact that everyone is happy means every trip is special. Amazing beaches, cute shops, great restaurants, no traffic...what more could you ask for in a family day out.
Herm is not only a beautiful island - a bit of Paradise - but the accommodation in both the cottages and the hotel are first class. Everyone you meet is friendly and helpful and each time I visit I feel renewed and refreshed. Keep on doing what you do, Herm!
Herm is just a paradise. No cars, beautiful beaches, you would swear you were in the tropics.
When growing up, I used to live in a neighbouring island, Guernsey. Although now in the UK, for many years I have been back to the Channel Islands. However, no visit is ever complete without a trip to Herm Island. This is a little piece of heaven on earth. It is difficult to put into words, but there is something magical about the island and as you walk round to one of the stunning beaches, Herm weaves a spell and enters you heart for good. My 10 year old would like to live there forever - it even appeals to sullen teenagers! White beaches, sparkling sea and...peace. Its the place I go in my mind when I am stressed, and I can't wait to be back there this summer.
I have been holidaying on Herm since 1991 and, to be perfectly honest, have no plans to go anywhere else! As a blind person who travels there on my own I find Herm a safe, friendly environment, and I always feel comfortable there. Over the years I have met many interesting people whom I now class as good friends. The facilities at the White House Hotel are excellent, and the food gets better every year. To my mind, though, the Hotel's best asset is its staff: they are efficient, friendly and often go beyond the call of duty to be helpful. To sum up: for me Herm is a great place to be, and I look forward to my visits at least annually, and more often if I can manage.
I have been visiting Herm Island for the past 5 years and have stayed at The White House Hotel as well as a number or the cottages. The Hotel is fabulous if you want to eat well - the menu and standard of food is wonderful. The cottages we have stayed in have been spacious, well maintained and very clean, with crisp white bed linen! With no cars allowed on the island, Herm is a wonderful place to get away from the noise and bustle of the mainland and listen to the noise of the wind on cliff top walks and the sounds of gulls flying around the island. Everywhere you go on this small island both residents and other visitors are friendly and welcoming. This is my favourite place to holiday in the UK.
We usually visit Herm at least three times a year. We always stay in self catering accommodation which is well equipped with cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery. TV etc. From the time we board the ferry to cross to Herm, the boat staff are always helpful in helping with our luggage etc. On reaching Herm the Herm Staff are waiting to carry our luggage on to the truck, which is waiting to take to them to our self catering cottage. The staff and Residents of the Island are always helpful and very friendly. Over the years we have also come to know the Herm children as well! We love going to the Mermaid or the Ship for a snack, a drink and have a chat with the other visitors or the locals. We are looking forward to going back to Herm (Paradise) sometime in July!! We rediscover this hotel year after year, for its peace, comfort and excellent food and drink. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Herm itself helps you feel you have stepped off the carousel of everyday, busy life and can take an inspiring breather, drinking in the beauty of the beaches, the views, the cliff walks and then relaxing in the hotel and its grounds.
We were given a night on Herm Island as a wedding gift and loved it. What a pristine island. And when the last boat left, it had this undisturbed, wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Our room with balcony was fantastic and so was the food. I would love to come again for a bit longer than 1 night. We have recommended several times since. Daniela
Peace and tranquility on a beautiful island , Herm has lovely scenic views which you can take in along the coastal walks. It also has adventure with Kayaking, Surfing, Archery and Geo-caching for the more active. There is camping, self catering cottages, and delicious food and fine wine at a fabulous White House Hotel. Plus you can enjoy cosy drinks and entertainment at the busy Mermaid Tavern. So what ever you needs , Herm has it all.
This is a lovely place to visit and work great friendly atmosphere, a variety events throughout the year, beautiful scenery. My favourite time of the year is during the ale festivals being able to sample different ales and ciders with live music.
Outstanding Island, great people (guests and staff), perfect place to relax and unwind, whilst enjoying stunning wines (at very reasonable prices!). Plenty of dining options, from pub grub in the Mermaid Tavern to exquisite cuisine in the AA awarded Two Rosette Conservatory Restaurant in the White House Hotel.
The peace and tranquility of the Island is magical. You always recieve warm welcome whether it be from the Hotel or the Mermaid Tavern and the food at either is always tasty and plentiful.
Need to get away from it all head for Herm Island.Relax on the beautiful sandy beaches, walk the breathtaking coastal paths and picturesque inland trails.Enjoy the welcome of The White House Hotel, the Mermaid Pub and the local shops.Return home refreshed and raring to return.
We love being involved in any Weddings & Functions in Herm, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun, this is down to a great team of staff! The stunning scenery and general ambience go without saying making it a perfect venue for any event. A great day out from start to finish which will excite your guests from the moment they step on the boat! Jonathan, Sion and the team put in such an effort and nothing is too much trouble! - The In Any Event Team x
As soon as you put foot on Herm all your cares melt away. The Island is so extremely beautiful and relaxing, a genuine little piece of paradise, just as advertised.
A few nights at the White House Hotel on Herm is like spending a week anywhere else! The hotel and the Island has an amazing relaxing atmosphere with excellent cuisine and service. It is simply superb!
