This team of more than sixty professional staff strive to provide an excellent service to their patients and other stakeholders.

Audiology & Ear Care

Queens Road Medical Practice’s ear care services are hosted at the Longfrie Surgery in their state-of-the-art audiology room, offering comprehensive assessment and treatment of ear and hearing problems. This includes Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) problems responsible for vertigo and balance disorders.

Ear Syringing is performed by practice nurses and is suitable for wax removal in uncomplicated cases. Microsuction is suitable for removing wax in patients of all ages and treating otitis externa (swimmer’s ear), which can be safer and more effective than syringing in some instances. Tympanometry is used to assess middle ear problems, including glue ear and is also used to determine the safety to fly and drive.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers have a legal duty to protect the health of their employees. In addition, under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), employers have a legal obligation to assess the risk of infection for employees and others affected by their work.

An employer has a duty to provide health surveillance for all their employees in Guernsey who, despite actions to control the risk, are likely to be regularly exposed or considered at risk for any other reason. The Health and Safety Executive Guidance (HSG88) recommends a preventative approach to control the risk of injury.
