More Than Just A Doctors' Surgery - Ear Care,
Physiotherapy & Osteopathy

Audiology & Ear Care

Queens Road Medical Practice’s ear care services are hosted at Le Longfrie Surgery in their state of the art audiology room, offering comprehensive assessment and treatment of ear and hearing problems. This includes Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) problems responsible for vertigo and balance disorders.

Ear Syringing is performed by practice nurses and is suitable for wax removal in uncomplicated cases. Microsuction is suitable for removal of wax in patients of all ages and for treatment of otitis externa (swimmer’s ear), and can be safer and more effective than syringing in certain cases. Tympanometry is used in the assessment of middle ear problems including glue ear and is also used to determine safety to fly and dive.

Physiotherapy & Osteopathy

Physiotherapy helps people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.

Osteopathy primarily focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. With a highly skilled sense of touch, Osteopaths seek to restore optimal functioning of the body and aid its intrinsic ability to heal itself.

  • Back and neck pain
  • Joint pain
  • Lymphoedema
  • Muscular aches
  • Muscle imbalance

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers have a legal duty to protect the health of their employees. Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) employers have a legal duty to assess the risk of infection for employees and others affected by their work.

An employer has a duty to provide health surveillance for all their employees in Guernsey who, despite actions to control the risk, are likely to be regularly exposed above the exposure action value or are considered to be at risk for any other reason. The Health and Safety Executive Guidance (HSG88) recommends a preventative approach to control the risk of injury.
