Just back from a fabulous week at Fermain Valley Hotel. It ticked every single box. We had a great room and it was house kept every day. The breakfasts were superb. Lots of choice at a bar buffet and a long menu of cooked items which were always well made and nicely presented. We ate at all three hotel restaurants and returned to the Mexican restaurant a second time. All three were great. Great service. In fact the staff throughout the hotel were attentive, polite and helpful. It was so nice to be taken care of. We have already booked to return this year.
A few bits and bobs: kettle and cafetière in room / strong WiFi / bus stop within 200m and you can get anywhere for £1.70 / we hired E-bikes from Go Guernsey and they delivered to the hotel / we didn’t bring or hire a car; no need / bar and cafe areas were just as should be / nicely kept landscaped grounds / very peaceful / beach and cafe out the hotel and down the hill.
Thank you.

We have just spent a week at Fermain Valley Hotel and enjoyed the stay. The hotel is charming, the grounds are lovely, and the outside veranda is a real highlight — perfect for relaxed breakfasts and dinners overlooking the sea. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and attentive, which made the stay feel special.
The only downside was the room. We stayed in Room 38 which was tastefully decorated and large. However Rooms 38 - 42 are located in the eaves, and during our stay — which coincided with an unprecedented heatwave — the temperature inside reached 34.8°C, even with two fans running constantly. The sun shines directly on the roof on the afternoon onwards and the heat does not dissipate in the evening, even when it was much cooler outside, which made sleeping very difficult. We were told that only 4 bedrooms have aircon in the entire hotel.
Special mention to Catya on Reception who moved heaven and earth to transfer our room (if only for 3 nights). This room was noticeably cooler by 6 degrees.
If you’re booking, I’d strongly recommend choosing a room in a different part of the hotel. With the right room, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Guernsey.

The room and en-suite were lovely - beautifully appointed and very quiet. Just what we needed. The staff went out of their way to help. There are three car parks and we had no trouble parking. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of food for every taste.

There are three restaurants, The Ocean, The Steak House and Buho (serving Mexican food). Sadly, The Ocean was only open one night during our four night stay as the fish dishes there were excellent. Seemed such a shame as Guernsey is famous for it's seafood. One niggle about The Steak House: the red wine was served warm - but the staff did provide some crushed ice to help!

One point not related to the hotel but one to note - although parking everywhere is free you need to display a time clock on your dashboard to show what time you arrived in the car park and car parks are divided into different length stays. Be warned! We had no idea how this operated and found that you can buy the clocks (£6)either from the Tourist Information Bureau or the Police Station.

All in all, a lovely hotel and a beautiful island to visit.

Wonderful stay stay at Fermain, we loved our room, fabulously clean and comfortable, great breakfast and a heated indoor pool. The location is out of St. Peters and it's not an easy walk, not an issue for us as we had a car. We ate in The Ocean Terrace restaurant on our arrival night as we wanted to relax. We had a lovely meal, restaurant prices, but worth it. We were suprised that this restaurant remained close for the rest of our stay. The food offering that remained, was a pub like steak place in the same building or a Mexican up the road. This to me is not a 4 star hotel. We were lucky we could go out to other restaurants, of which there are plenty, but be warned if you are expecting a 4 star restaurant on site. There also is no Spa - a treatment room - and an unused Hot tub - again expectations would need to be adjusted. Despite these disappointments, the saving grace are the staff. Without exception they were all wonderful, kind and attentive.

"The hotel itself was clean and pleasant, and a couple of staff members were genuinely helpful. However, we encountered multiple issues that significantly affected our stay. After booking, we were notified the main pool was closed but received a follow-up email suggesting it would be fixed by our arrival. It wasn't. When we arrived on Sunday, we were told it would reopen Wednesday. It didn't, and the reopening date kept getting pushed back to Thursday, then Friday, then Monday. We never got to use it.

We were offered access to their sister hotel via shuttle service. In reality, this meant waiting for an available staff member to drive us, which was impractical. We were effectively told to drive ourselves despite the thirty minute round trip and fuel costs on top of an already expensive stay.

When we arrived, we were also told we could only access the sister hotel pool for one hour between three and four PM, and only to take children. They wouldn't allow children at any other time. Additionally, they offered a complimentary three course meal as further compensation, but this turned out to be only two courses. Service was slow throughout our stay, and we ended up leaving early without fully benefiting from the meal.

Overall, the food and service quality were poor. We won't be returning and regret not booking our previous year's hotel instead

A lovely tranquil hotel in the most beautiful stunning location . The hotel is very comfortable and clean and the service very good. A big shout out to Marie, Shayne , Sarisa, and our very lovely chambermaid Cecelia they all went the extra mile in making our stay enjoyable, in fact all the staff were brilliant. The room was comfortable with everything you needed. Bed was comfy and bathroom spotless . The breakfast was fabulous such a good choice .
The swimming pool was our only disappointment as it was being revamped so out of action . We were not informed about this until arrival but we were offered their sister hotel amenities which we used and they were fabulous. All in all a lovely break shame about the weather but that’s pot luck in our country .

Staff fantastic... breakfast excellent...food good...not happy about auto tip on food bills I know we can take it off but doesn't sit well
Really disappointed that the pool was out of action...we were told we could use the sister hotel but we didn't have transport so that wasn't going to be easy...it's a shame because the pool was one of the reasons we booked.
Our room though did have a marvellous view of the bay.

We came here directly from another Hand Picked Hotel on Jersey so it was interesting to note how very different they were. The differences were remarkable but the underlying theme was the same. That theme was a high degree of comfort, a homely feel and a warm welcome. Reflection accurately described in hotel literature regarding the ethos of the owner.
This peacefully situated and extremely comfortable hotel has everything for the guest who wants to relax and receive top quality service from friendly yet competent and professional staff.
We have a dog in our family and she was made to feel welcome at both hotels.
We were particularly impressed by the 3 dining options at the Fermain Valley the food and service at each was of a consistent and high standard.
We are now determined to visit more hotels in the group and would not hesitate to return to the two we had visited so far.

Lovely staff at this wonderful hotel. Staff were all very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was a real treat, with lots to choose from. Room was clean and had a lovely view of the sea. There was ample parking, although we didn’t use it. Hotel very near a bus stop. Three very nice restaurants to choose from too.

Disappointing quality for a hotel that purports to be luxury and charges £300+ per night.
We had a top floor sea view double. The bed had no headboard (uncomfortable and a sign of cost saving), the tiny bathroom door had lost its paint and was worn down to the wood (sign of poor maintenence), the show screen leaked, the room was overall poorly constructed (we could clearly hear people talking in the next door room and there was no aircon under a flat roof, so it was v. hot). Not a 4-star property.
On the balcony we could smell fried food from the restaurant even at 8 in the morning so probably their ventilation system was not built properly. Great shame that the construction of this property was not done well. We won't be coming back, sadly.
The saving grace of this hotel is the staff, in particular the receptionist, who worked tirelessly to make our stay more comfortable.

We had a few days here whilst we explored Guernsey. Ours was an upper garden room so we were at the top of the site with a bit of a slope down to the main hotel for breakfast. This wasn't a problem as we did get a message beforehand to warn us and give us the opportunity to change our booking if needed. The other downside to our room was that it faced onto the main road that runs past the hotel. Traffic noise was quite noticeable during the day but thankfully reasonably quiet at night. Would recommend you request a quiet room if you are a light sleeper.

Breakfast selection was good though the service on the Sunday morning was slow due to a low number of staff on duty. There are 2 restaurants on site but if you wanted somewhere cheaper then there was just one pub quite a walk away. Otherwise you would have needed to get transport. The walk down to the bay was lovely and the cafe at the bottom had a good range of choices. We used the buses to get around and they are good value for money.

Regrettably, the swimming pool was out of order when we arrived. Again, we did get a message beforehand to warn us and there were alternative arrangements at another hotel which was a fair distance away.

Finally, we were a bit disappointed that the TV in our room used a very old Sky HD box and only had SCART connections. The Sky box was glitchy and the lack of HDMI connections was a surprise. ITs more routine now to have Smart TVs so this setup is quite antiquated.

Hotel had great view and breakfast / lunch on the terrace looking down the valley to sea was very nice.
Food in all three restaurants was good, although the steak place you cook your own so menu limited and cooking quality down to you.
The pool was not available during our stay which was disappointing as it was late May, so not exactly out of season.
One or two of parts of the garden (wooden fences giving way) and breakfast room (seats in booths) were beginning to look a little worn.
The Tree House experience was very nice - no TV, no real distractions - only odd bit is a the door is a patio window and opens directly onto the walkway for other rooms to/from hotel. The hot tun was also unavailable during out visit.

Beautiful gardens but not easy to get service as staff seem limited or absent from the bar/ terrace for long periods. When they do service is good. The terrace is lovely and why it stops serving food at 5 and drinks at 7 is strange as it could be full mist nights.

We had a lovely stay during our stay at fermaine valley during the heatwave. Lack of air con made the room hard to sleep in but a fan had been placed in the room and obviously no one can predict the weather. Service was lovely and staff were exceptional. The room was really nice and clean with daily refreshes. Due to the heatwave we were disappointed that the swimming pool was out of action especially coming up to the busy season and during half term holidays. We were told we could go to the sister hotel to use their facilities but didn’t see why we should pay extra to use facilities elsewhere via taxi as buses were suspended due to road closures.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay and the island is a lovely place with people being so friendly. The staff were all pleasant even meeting many at the pub across the road who gave us alot of information about the local places to go and how to get there ( the head chef at the ocean and barnaby). Thankyou for everything once again looking to return to Guernsey again!

Had a fantastic 4 night stay. What makes this hotel so good is all of their staff. They all have brilliant customer service & nothing is too much for them. The breakfast was lovely as was the Mexican restaurant. We were upgraded to a balcony room which was great to sit on, enjoy the view & just relax. There is a bus stop at the top of the road which takes you into St Peter’s port or on the other side of the road around the island or to the airport.

We stayed 5 nights for a birthday weekend, with lots of friends joining us for part of the stay.
The staff make the place, very friendly and a very special shout out to Catia (🙏🏻) and thanks to Barnaby, Kevin and all the fabulous restaurant team and our hardworking housekeeper.
The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful.
The Superior Rooms with balcony and valley view were perfect and the bird song, flora and fauna really made it. The gardens are gorgeous.
It’s the best place to stay on the island 🏝️, down the road to the beach. Easy reach to town too. It was peaceful and a sunny sanctuary.
During our early evening check-in we were informed of various facilities not available at the time. This hit a nerve, just the way it was conveyed.
The extra touches very welcome - especially the bath robes so soft.
We would definitely return and were sad to leave.

Great breakfast menue with a nice selection of different food. Not far from Fermain Beach and access to the coastal path. I felt very much at home and very well treated. Thank you 😊

We stayed in the treehouse, it was amazing!! Unfortunately the hot tub was broken and so was the indoor pool but we could visit their sister hotel which had indoor pool and sauna (their hottub was also out of action) but the tree gouse was lovely and we did the cliff walk around the area

We recently stayed at The Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey for our wedding weekend, and we couldn’t have wished for a better experience. From the moment we began planning, the team made everything effortless. Phil was incredibly helpful with the arrangements beforehand, and during our stay Garry looked after us so well.
The hotel itself is stunning — surrounded by beautiful woodlands, our rooms were spacious, offering breathtaking sea views, they were spotlessly clean, comfortable, and a real pleasure to stay in. The food throughout our visit was excellent, with plenty variation and great quality (also catering for my Mum who is Gluten Free).
What truly made our weekend special was the staff. Every single person we met was friendly, professional, and genuinely happy to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their warmth made us feel completely at ease.
On the day of the wedding, the sun was shining and we were able to hold the ceremony outside. With just the four of us, it was intimate, relaxed, and absolutely perfect. The team went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that we had everything we needed.
A huge thank you to all the management and staff for making our wedding weekend unforgettable. We will definitely be returning.

We used to be regular visitors to Fermain Valley but this was our first trip back for several years. We were welcomed back like old friends and looked after with such care by the amazing staff (special thank you to Catia on reception)! The service is exceptional and combined with the stunning view and calm atmosphere of the hotel makes for such a relaxing stay. Thank you!
