So warm and friendly and welcoming.
The waiter had a real depth to his knowledge, and Recomended " silver side " steak -- I had never heard of this cut before, he also recommended medium cooked, rather than rare - HE WAS 100% CORRECT - the steak just melted in your mouth, was 2" thick, and could be cut by running your knife 4 times across it ! - amazing.

Would recommend to everyone, and plan on returning for birthday meals soon.

I stayed the weekend for a function.The hotel staff were very helpful and attentive. The hotel has been nicely re-furbished to date with ongoing improvements scheduled. Our room was very clean and had a wonderful sea view. Maybe the shower lacked a little in pressure but this was a minor issue. Our evening meal for a large group was good and service again excellent. The breakfast contained good quality ingredients. Parking was not an issue and the hotel provided a voucher for £1.

Visited this hotel for the first time,having a family lunch.we were welcomed by very friendly staff,tables were rearranged so that we could have a sea view whilst eating.good choice of menu,we all had different items, all of which were very good,generous portions and some with a different slant on a classic theme.we would definitely visit again.

Thoroughly deserves its high rating on TripAdvisor, reopened with new owners after a quality & tasteful refurbishment.We had a sea-view room that was large & well appointed with a mixture of contemporary furnishings whilst maintaining some of its Victorian character. The hotel is run by a team of very hands on & caring management, no service was too much trouble .We booked on line & got a great rate ,would recommend a winter break to take advantage of tariffs that beat Premier inns & Travelodge for an infinity better product & experience.Excellent evening menu using a lot of fresh local seafood & fish plus other options for a very reasonable set price, Nick the deputy manager knows his wines & helped us choose from a very well chosen & priced list. The young chef Luke produced a stunning meal & we had a lovely evening. The Manager Tim? (sorry if my memory fails me ) actually served us our breakfast the following morning & regaled us with anecdotal stories.My one & only slight criticism of the whole stay was the young lady breakfast chef needs a bit more training in cooking breakfast goods particularly eggs in their different forms I only mention this as I know The hotel team has a great training ethic & will use my comment for a positive . I was requested by some business friends to find a new hotel in Eastbourne for them to try, and having recently met the new owner Christopher Copping and heard about the investment he was making in the hotel, I thought I would try West Rocks. All four were delighted with the warm clean comfortable rooms with sea views and enjoyed their breakfasts.
The previous evening I had dinner with one of the guests and enjoyed the scallops starter in cheese followed by the chicken in mustard -( only criticism - it might have been hotter ) finished with a generous helping of cheese and biscuits served by the manager and hotel porter who were both very attentive and friendly - I recommend you give it a go

We booked this at the last minute through booking.com after reading the great reviews on Trip Advisor. We weren't disappointed. This is a great hotel right on the sea front at a good price. We booked a deluxe sea view room which was fabulous. Great views, a really large, tastefully decorated room, extremely comfy bed and pillows, freeview TV, tea & coffee making facilities. I borrowed a hair dryer from reception as there wasn't one in the room. The only slight niggle was that the shower wasn't that powerful but for a 2 night stay it was fine. The hotel is being renovated but it seems to only be the corridors that are still to be decorated, the rest of the hotel is spotless. Breakfast was in a lovely room in the basement - with a self service selection of hot food and a toasting machine that actually works (the first one I have ever seen where you only have to put the toast through once and it cooks evenly both sides - quite an achievement in itself). There was water melon, pastries, cereal - it would have been nice to have yoghurt - the first day there was only fudge yoghurt which is a bit weird for breakfast and second day there wasn't any but this again is minor niggle. Staff were very polite and friendly. When we checked out on Sunday morning we left our bag in reception for a few hours while we went for a walk. So all in all a great hotel and would definitely recommend.

Stayed there for one night last weekend and can not fault the place one bit. Our sea view room was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and courteous. They couldn't do enough for us.
When we are back in Eastbourne again, there will be not hunting around for a hotel this time. They will be first choice.

Never been in this hotel until today even though I have lived in Eastbourne most of my life. The Chamber of Commerce organised a lunch for Past Presidents, of which I am one, and it was superb. Staff very friendly, hotel well decorated and modern, food was wonderful. Clearly a lot of work has gone into this place and it deserves its good reviews on TripAdvisor.

This place is an absolute gem; from the moment I entered until I left after 2 fabulous days by the seaside. The friendliest of staff, the to die for food in the restaurant downstairs, the stunning room, the view of the sea.....I really can't recommend this place enough.

My wife and I visited for the airshow in August. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable and the room was absolutely superb with sea views. We cancelled the second night that we had booked due to work commitments and he was very happy to do this and no cancellation fee.

Breakfast was very good although service was a little poor and the only negative of the weekend but don't let that put you off, this is a great place to stay and we will be back next year.

Went to West Rocks the other night for a meal in the restaurant. What a difference from a few years ago – the restaurant, bar and lounges now all look very smart and the whole atmosphere has changed . The food was excellent and the staff friendly and gave great service. Also met the new owners, Chis and Steve – great hosts

Lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff, the rooms are spotless, modern with comfy beds and pillows. Nice big fluffy bath sheets which is rare, and tea and coffee making facilities. They guys at West Rocks can not do enough to make your stay memorable, we had dinner in the restaurant and it was a la carte quality, the buffet breakfast is hot, good quality and constantly topped up with plenty of staff keeping an eye on things.
The bar is well stocked and reasonably priced. We had our Christmas party there and I can not recommend it enough, a wonderful 3 course Xmas dinner was provided, with good quality wine, a disco to keep us all entertained and the hotel owners Steve and Chris were on hand to make sure we were well looked after. I am already looking at dates to take my family for a long weekend. Thank you West Rocks you are a credit to the hospitality industry and real gem.

This was the venue for our works Christmas do. Whilst there is no car park, car parking is a breeze. For a pound you get a parking voucher and you can park anywhere in the vicinity of the hotel including right outside.
A very warm welcome and our room was lovely. Nicely decorated with a lovely sea view. Whilst there is still renovation to be done in the hotel don't let this put you off.
The food served was delicious and the waiting staff friendly and attentive.
They did a fantastic job hosting our party and nothing was too much trouble so can recommend them if you are considering using them as a venue
I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Eastbourne.
A really nice hotel run by really nice people

The hotel is in an excellent position right on the seafront, the staff are fantastic and very helpful, rooms have obviously been recently renovated and are very good value for money.
Bar prices are very reasonable and the food is of a very good standard.
The breakfast is described as "yummy" by the hotel and that just about sums it up, one of the best hotel breakfasts ive had and ive had a few.
Simply put this is a gem of a hotel and if you are thinking of a trip to eastbourne you should put this at the top of your list

Large room with comfy bed. Stopped one night as only in the area overnight. Niggles were curtains that were too skinny to fully close and window in bathroom that let in a draught so bathroom on the cooler side of warm. Decor to corridors dated but owners have humorous notices advising these are due to be decorated. Welcome was warm and all staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is a work in progress, the owners are on the right track and are close to getting to an excellent facility.

I Organised my works Christmas Party at the hotel. Both Steve & Chris the lovely owners were more than helpful & accommodating before our arrival & they & there excellent staff made our weekend special.
West Rocks is one of many hotels on the seafront but it's a true diamond among them.
They are going through renovations & tell you that clearly & with humour. What they've achieved in the short time they've owned it is fantastic. The ground floor is beautiful & so was our room.
The food, service, our lovely room with a seaview were perfect but it was all those little extras & the attention to detail that makes West Rocks stand out from the crowd. Sweets on our bed, a free cocktail before our meal & the disco to name a few.
Well done every one involved for making our Christmas party special, we are all working over the Christmas period & so this was our time to celebrate. Thank you for understanding that, it meant a lot.
We will definitely be back & I would recommend a visit to anyone.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who recently stayed at the West Rocks Hotel for four nights.

Having lived in Eastbourne for best part of thirty years you would expect it would have been easy for them to choose a hotel for a brief trip back having recently relocated along the South Coast. It wasn't - other hotels either had prices that were too steep or the rooms that looked very tired and Tripadvisor reviews that hinted that their stay would be miserable.

Based on the reviews we found for the West Rocks Hotel, we took a chance and booked.

I waited nervously to collect them from their return coach journey, and was delighted to hear their delight in the wonderful service and warmth they had received from Ian Crow the General Manager and his team.

Arriving late evening, they were assisted into the hotel with their luggage (neither are strong on their legs). There is aparently a ramp for use in exiting and entering the hotel on a lower floor, but is not often open and needs some kind of bell or alert system to be put in place. Mum's discussion with the staff on the matter were duly noted and will be looked into.

A late supper was brought up to their room on the first night and pronounced delicious. The breakfasts they had were also apparently fantastic - constantly watched over by the chef and waiting staff to ensure everything was of a top standard and Mum was impressed by the "real tablecloths". Apparently, this is unusual now days? Anyway, she appreciated the attentive service, fresh fruit and "could not fault it".

Their room overlooked the sea, to their delight even though we hadn't booked a seaview, and was "huge".

Most notable perhaps in describing the level of service and attention Ian and his team provide to their guests is the report that when asked by my Dad if they had a newspaper left over that he could purchase, they said they didn't but would happily run around to the nearest shop and buy one for him. This was particularly above and beyond the call of duty as it was bucketing down with rain at the time - but the paper was still fetched for them.

In summary, my parents strongly recommend the hotel and all of its staff and are already looking forward to their own return visit.

This hotel is under new management now so there are a few things I think the management is trying to improve on. Overall the place is clean , friendly and relaxing. Keep up the good work. Will definitely be back again.

A lovely place to get away from the stresses & strains of everyday life, the hotel reception rooms are tastefully done with magnificent views of the sea & the food in the restaurant is incredible! It was a joy to actually hear the sound of the sea from my room & I actually fell asleep to it - something you can't say about most British seaside towns. The breakfast, along with the service was excellent - I really couldn't recommend it more.

Tried the West Rocks FOR THE FIRST TIME and i was plesseantly suprissed. The seaview room was great, and the staff were very helpfully as I said in the previous review, we ate in the restaurant the food was excellent, and we finished the evening with a bottle of wine in the bar, we had a great night sleep in a very comfy bed

I would normally stay at the view hotel, seeing the price i tried the West Rocks and i was plesseantly suprissed.

The seaview room was good, and the staff were very helpfully like it said in the previous reviews.

I've been visiting Eastbourne on business for many years. Since discovering this delightful hotel I stay nowhere else. I cannot fault a single thing. From the spotlessly clean rooms and modern guest areas, to the delicious food and outstanding customer service, everything is first class! The West Rock's is my home away from home and I cannot wait to go back!

Once again we were made to feel very welcome by the staff and Chris the owner.
Superb food and service and nothing was too much trouble.
