Yesterday, two friends and I went for lunch in the Channel Restaurant at The WEST ROCKS HOTEL. The welcome from the Staff in the bar was very welcoming, the dining room was newly decorated and very pleasant, we sat in the window and once looking at the menu the Chef came to talk to us about the menus, explained that they were newly opened and welcomed any comments. The owner Chris Copping, came to introduce himself and told us his plans for the dining room. The food was delicious, hot, well presented and exactly as the chef said it would be. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine ( that was not outlandishly expensive but excellent). The whole experience was a lovely lunch in great surroundings in a dining room overlooking the sea.

The hotel has a fabulous location and the owners and staff are exceptional both in kindness and service. The food is great too. They are working very hard to finish their upgrade and it has a definite charm. We definitely recommend this hotel for any visitor and look forward to if back ourselves

After researching several hotels in Eastbourne including the Grand.
I decided to book this one, what a great decision that was! I was staying on business but with my family (My mum and my baby Son). We both agreed that the customer service was exceptional and we've not experienced anything like it at other places we have previously stayed. As a professional Musician I have stayed in many 5 star establishments and I've not come across such excellent service before. They have got it just right! From Offering to carry our bags from the car, a snack/drink before we departed, help with baby and opening the door - make you feel extra special and for me this helped my stay become very stress free.
Very quite too! No sleep disturbance at all.
I had a hectic weekend of work/shows so very much appreciated the extra help.
Our room was very good value - not yet renovated but was clean and comfortable. I loved my stay so much I have already booked two rooms in September when my show performs at the fabulous Eastbourne Bandstand - walking distance from hotel.
Really I shouldn't be telling you how fabulous this little gem of Eastbourne really is as I can imagine if not already it will be getting fully booked! Reserve your room well in advance to avoid disappointment and my advice would be to pay a little extra for the deluxe or standard sea view room. After being shown a few of the rooms, I reserved the Deluxe with bay window for my next stay - what a stunning sea view! Has been renovated to excellent standard. I particularly like comfy duvets instead of sheets.
The Breakfast was indeed YUMMY! Fresh fruit - Yogurt - Cereals - Pastries - Full cooked on buffet and tea coffee serviced to you as soon as you enter. Non rushed too.
We ate one evening in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent with again fantastic service!
Very relaxed atmosphere looking out to sea. I ordered Steak and Mum had fish and chips both delicious at a bargain deal.
And lastly the location is perfect! Right on the sea front near to everything Eastbourne has to offer.

I booked one night at West Rocks as a birthday trip for me, my husband and son in June. I was originally looking for a 'fancy' hotel for a night away, but found most places wouldn't allow a one night stay (B and Bs) or didn't have any family rooms or any that were available, a must for me as my son is only three. So this was a bit of a compromise, but in fact turned out to be a perfect result, as West Rocks was really family friendly and relaxed, but the location made it feel special for a special occasion.

The service was fantastic - from a warm welcome and the offer to carry our bags up to our room (very rare in hotels in this country, I've found!), to the friendly and proactive service at breakfast the next day (the staff offered a high chair and were really friendly and nice to us and our little boy: even though a three year old at breakfast is never a really wonderful start to anyone's day, they never made us feel we were a nuisance), to the helpful advice on where to go for shops (we were looking for antique/vintage shops) from the owner at the front desk.

Our family room was lovely - it had been redecorated and was clean, airy and bright, with some lovely old wardrobes for character. It was a good size, and right on the seafront with a huge bay window, so with the windows open we had a lovely breeze in the room. All the hotels in this area suffer from the effects of the salt and sea, but because it had been recently decorated and was so clean and fresh it didn't feel damp at all. The bathroom was huge and likewise very clean and user-friendly. At night the lights along the promenade were lit up, there was a beautiful moon, and it was a lovely view, as you could see to the pier. I think that being a little way along from the pier things were a bit quieter and we certainly had a peaceful night's sleep.

Breakfast was in the basement/lower-ground floor, in a really nicely decorated room which again felt bright and airy (although I always think it is a shame going downstairs for breakfast at hotels: I know it is because they have the ground floor for restaurant and bar, but the view would have been nice). There was a great range of buffet and cooked foods available and breakfast was served for a good long time so there was plenty of space and we didn't feel rushed.

There were signs up apologising for the hallways not being renovated yet, but we didn't mid that because the room itself was nicely done, and of course it will be a work in progress as it is a very big building. I felt that the hotel's clean and airy feel, and the friendly and hospitable service, combined with the location made it excellent value for money here in the pricey South East!

I took my family for lunch at West Rocks - wasn't sure what to expect, but WOW it was fabulous! The food was so tasty and way beyond my expectations, everyone agreed it was one of the best meals we'd had for ages. The staff were lovely and we met the owners, Chris & Steve who were charming - can't recommend it enough. Go and enjoy!

West Rocks was the perfect base for our short break. We enjoyed
walks by the seafront , took the opportunity to go to the
theatre a few minutes walk away and the restaurant at the hotel
was very good and reasonably priced.

Our room was elegant with an immaculate bathroom and breath taking seaview,
we felt our room was great value for money. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel again.

We had a really comfortable break. The room was immaculately clean and fantastic views of the sea. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Lovely areas in the hotel to relax. Will definitely return for another holiday. Although refurbishment ongoing, it did not affect our comfort.

We visited West Rocks in July and were impressed. It is being renovated with real taste and thought. The location is as good as it gets and the view from the sea facing rooms is fantastic. The rooms are luxurious (which is a bonus as we weren't expecting that) and clean.

There's a nice feeling about this hotel - you feel looked after and there's a level of care not only of the customers but of the place I.e. very clean, nice details around - pleasing on the eye.

In our view this is an excellent choice and West Rocks will be where we stay when we visit Eastbourne.

We arrived at west rocks after spending 4 nights at the best B&B in Kent so this was a bit of a come down. There is ongoing work at the hotel and the main reception area/dining area and bar have all been revamped; they look super. Our bedroom (no. 16) was stuck at the back overlooking scaffolding and quite dark. Although everything was clean and the bed very comfy the wardrobes and bathroom are in serious need of upgrade. The breakfast was ok; nothing to shout about but the staff were really helpful. The position of the hotel is great. Unfortunately on our last day we had water coming through our ceiling at 6am and my husband had to get someone up to try and sort. We hope them well when all the improvements have been done

Stayed here for a weekend away. Lovely hotel in a fantastic position on the front. Room was very clean and had a great view out over the beach. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good too. Wouldn't hesitate coming back.

Room was clean (and ready before the 2pm check in time which was nice) and the double was very comfortable with nice bedding.

Decor was old but again everything was clean throughout.

Situated a stones throw (literally) from a section of beach and 10 minute walk from the pier.

Breakfast was amazing. Full English buffet with continental on the side! I could have had eaten it all day long.

For the price we paid, it was a lovely lovely stay and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Eastbourne on a budget.

I was checking out the West Rocks hotel with a view to bringing a large golf group here next year. We have stayed at this hotel a few times before, but it had become so run down that we decided never to return. However seeing that the hotel is now under new ownership and is undergoing significant refurbishment, I decided to have a look for myself.

Yes, the rooms have been refurbished and new fittings, fixtures and decor - very nice, although our room had wires in the ceiling where the smoke detector should be. But we pointed it out to Ian the manager who added it to his list of jobs to be done. The communal areas and bar have also been improved, with new floors and a lick of paint and are now much more what you would expect. The corridors and other areas are still awaiting improvement but are clean and tidy.

We ate in the restaurant which was very good, and great value and also enjoyed the "yummy breakfast" (their words not mine), which was buffet style and excellent.

So the bottom line..... Have I booked it for my golfing buddies tour next year? Yes I have!

I have spent the last few months in Eastbourne on Business. As Summer approached the other hotels were not interested in my business travel needs, the West Rock was just coming on line from a major upgrade. The Hotel staff is first rate and they have been taking very good care of me. The rooms I have stayed in (there have been a few now) are very comfortable and give me the change to enjoy the view and feels like home. With my morning departure coming before the scheduled start of the breakfast,The staff takes my breakfast order and prepares my breakfast. This kind of customer service sets the West Rocks at the head of the pack. All toll I will spent 10 weeks at this hotel over the course of May, June, and July.

Decided to go here for my birthday dinner with friends as I live close by. The food was outstanding and the service very good to. The entire ambience of the hotel and it's various reception rooms was lovely and friendly. Will definitely be going again and have already booked friends in there later in the summer.

It takes a lot to impress me these days however the West Rocks Hotel managed to exceed all my expectations. I wasn't expecting much for the price I paid yet from the moment I walked through the door to the moment I left, the friendly staff treated me like family. Nothing was too much trouble. I had forgotten to pack my phone charger. Steve, the owner lent me his without hesitation. My room was lovely with a view to die for, overlooking the main drag and out to sea. I would recommend eating in the restaurant. Great value and the food was a nice surprise... delicious! I would highly recommend the West Rocks. Thanks to everyone for making my stay so wonderful.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights recently. The hotel is undergoing a big makeover and the bedrooms and public areas that are done are very nice indeed. We had a lovely room overlooking the sea which was good value,fresh and modern with a nice bathroom. Quality bed, bed linen and huge fluffy towels made a good impression. Another good point about this hotel is that the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

We ate in the restaurant one evening and enjoyed a great value nicely cooked dinner which was served piping hot on hot plates . Breakfast the next morning however was disappointing. My wife had the English breakfast( one sausage, one rasher of bacon, one piece of black pudding and one poached egg, cooked in too much vinegar). This was served virtually cold. The plate was returned to the kitchen and came back with a hot sausage and everything else cold as before ! The waitress was apologetic but by this time my wife had given up on a hot plate of food. Tea was made in the breakfast room by using an urn which dispensed hot water into the teapots. This resulted in a pot of tea that was not as hot as it should be. Most things in the hotel are good but breakfasts need to be improved.

Wow what an amazing hotel with real character really clean throughout and great food.
The staff were really helpful and friendly giving the impression of a family run hotel.
I would recommend staying here and great value too.
I will be back to stay next time I am in town..thanks guys

What a great weekend thanks to the great team of staff- our first stay at West Rocks but in future it will be our only place to stay. Food great quality, cleanliness excellent we knew when booking works still in progress but our stay unspoilt by any of this GOOD LUCK TO ALL & THANKS BIG STYLE see you all soon

Think we had the worst room in the hotel ( room 7 ) tiny , looked out to wall ! Crap shower . Light on in hallway left on all night and shone through the gap in the door hence no sleep !
Staff were very polite and friendly , good breakfast . Just a shame about the room we were given . Although it was clean . Great location on sea front and close to town centre and pier .

WOW – really impressed with the team at West Rocks Hotel. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff very approachable and friendly. The room I was allocated was immaculate, comfortable and welcoming. The hotel’s Channel Restaurant was a great choice for our evening meal; superb food delivered with enthusiasm from attentive staff. Breakfast in the morning was superb. The refurbishment as brought the place back to life. The place has a great vibe about it, relaxed , the right side of informal. You can feel the passion from the staff for the place when you walk in. That’s a rare feeling. How all hotels should be.

First of all, let's not get carried away, The hotel is well situated and the owners are keen to make it a first-class one for the future, but they would readily agree that there is a long way to go at the moment.
Breakfast was fine, served in a bright, modern room, where the hot food was regularly replenished and although limited was very tasty. The service was as you would expect, but the room numbers made ours ( No.33) very difficult to find.
We do not disagree with any of the positive comments from the reviews, but to already be near the top at this early stage in development is rather surprising!

If you are looking for a Hotel right on the seafront in a lovely part of Eastbourne look no further, we are locals and wanted to view the hotel out of curiosity ! it has just been taken over by 2 lovely guys from London. It has recently been updated beautifully, keeping alot of its original features with a hint of modern within its walls, the sea views from the Bedrooms and Lounge are outstanding, we popped in for tea and had 1 of the owners Chris Copping proudly showing us round at their new venture . We were then offered tea and coffee with yummy cakes and scones very reasonably priced ! I would highly reccommend this Hotel, its 1 min walk to the beach and very close to the theatres and town centre.

This hotel was wonderful.... undergoing renovation not that you would know it. The rooms were newly decorated very tastefully they were extemly comfortable with a fantastic sea view. The resturant served the most delicious food and would highly recommend it. The staff and owners could not do enough to make our stay a pure delight. We cant wait to go back

We just stayed at this hotel for two nights. Upon arrival we had a very friendly welcome from the owner and our experience of all his staff was the same, Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Since we were not intending to spend a lot of time in our room we stayed in one of the basic rooms, without sea-view and did not opt for the one of the deluxe rooms. The hotel is under new ownership and is being totally refurbished, our room had recently been renovated. The room was bright and airy, comfortable bed with small shower room en-suite, and clean. There are certainly more grand and luxurious places to stay, if that is what you are looking for, but if you want an inexpensive place to stay that is clean, comfortable with excellent customer service then this fits the bill.

Breakfast was included which was a self-service buffet and was very good, A wide selection of cereals, fruit, pastries and the hot selections included bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, beans, and mushrooms and fried eggs. A good breakfast to start the day,

The owners are full of enthusiasm and did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable. I wish them every success for the future and would certainly stay here again if I should be staying in Eastbourne.

Deciding to leave the mighty machine that is London behind us for a break we headed to the South Coast and Eastbourne for the first time.

For our one night stay we chose the West Rocks Hotel. This Georgian Gem is located prominently on Grand Parade with uninterrupted views of the sea and a short walk to the pier and town centre.

On checking in the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our deluxe room lived up to expectations, spacious, bright and with direct sea views through the large original sash and case windows.

Since being under new management the hotel has undergone significant refurbishment and the owners have successfully combined the modern amenities one would expect, whilst sympathetically restoring the many beautiful original Georgian features. This has helped create the perfect environment to relax and unwind, not only in your room but also the spacious public areas.

Breakfast was included in our room rate and was buffet style, offering the perfect choice of tasty hot and cold food. During our stay we also chose to eat dinner and then Sunday lunch before our departure. Both restaurant experiences were excellent, the food was delicious and presentation was of a high standard. Again here and throughout our stay staff where extremely helpful and friendly, with nothing being too much trouble.

The hotel is dog friendly and we loved encountering the four legged guests as they passed through the hotel and enjoyed pampering them whilst chatting with their owners.

We had a wonderful stay, it’s clear the owners and staff have worked hard to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, whilst at the same time providing a high quality and professional service, all this within the Georgian charm and modern comfort of the hotel itself.

We recommend a stay at the West Rocks and look forward to returning again ourselves!
