A great venue; fab staff, amazing views and always a warm welcome. The staff at the Cumberland have - for a long time - been amazing supporters of Chestnut Tree House children's hospice, putting on regular fundraising events as well as promoting awareness of the respite care offered to families by the charity. Thanks!!

Great friendly staff, nice sea views but tired hotel in need of some TLC. good location but just NOT worth the money charged. during C-19 restrictions of travel I find it a shame that UK hotels like this one overcharge when they should be encouraging people to spend their money taking UK vacations at a reasonable cost. We Should have been in Spain at a 5 star spa hotel which was a lot cheaper per night and that is the competition that the UK holiday industry wants to win back.

My husband and I headed to Eastbourne for a cheeky night away before London entered tier 3. We had a basic room and the hotel provided a travel cot with bedding and even a little rubber duck for our one year old. They can’t currently offer babysitting because of covid. Our room had a small double bed but was adequate for the two of us for one night. The bathroom was huge with a rainforest shower over the bath, dressing gowns, slippers, plenty of towels and molten brown products. Due to covid you need to book 45mins slots in the pool but we managed to book the times on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning that suited us. On Sunday morning we were the only three in the pool. There is also a jacuzzi. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it was super easy to park right outside the front in their free car park. Check in and check out was quick and easy and all of the staff were wonderful. We had lunch in the lounge, think club sandwich and fries, baguettes, soups etc with full bar available and all waiter served. We had dinner at the Mirabelle which was wonderful. They don’t do a children’s menu there so we ordered our daughter the children’s room service, three courses and lots of options. She had a fruit platter, chocolate ice cream and penne pasta with tomato sauce, was served like something from home alone 2! We got her to sleep in the pram so we could have a pre dinner drink and canapé in the bar followed by a three course meal. You have to book breakfast, which was no problem. The menu was extensive from pancakes to full English to eggs benedict etc etc. Everything is silver service, which was a lovely touch. The hotel isn’t the modern style we usually go for, it’s very traditional in decor, however, it’s spotlessly clean and we had a wonderful time. Would thoroughly recommend for a night or two escape from the city once lockdown is lifted. It’s also across from the beach, literally cross the road and you are on it. A short walk from the pier and not too far from Beachy Head.

Bedrooms comfortable and well equipped and a number of small comfortable lounges to relax and enjoy a drink (or two) in. Restaurant fine if you don't want to venture out to eat.

After having been customers of The New Willmington for almost 30 years, the change of ownership was a concern for us but we need not have worried. We were still treated as valued customers and all the staff were friendly and as accommodating as ever. This is a difficult time for any business but Liam and all did everything possible to make our visit as normal as possible. Well done and we look forward 'covid conditions allowing' in the near future. Well done. Dave & Helen Evans

What a lovely 1 night away trip with our young boys prior to returning to school and before the lockdown starts. The hotel is amazingly situated on the beach front, the swimming pool is still open and was absolutely lovely / warm - our 2 young boys thought it was the best thing ever. The breakfast was fantastic full English and all the other items you would expect such as cereal, toast fruit served to you at the table. The staff are very friendly, nothing is too much hassle, very accommodating and was great to stay away for just 1 night feeling completely safe knowing they take COVID-19 precautions seriously. If it wasn't due to work commitments we would had stayed longer. See you again soon.

Turning out things on a cold wet January day I came across my bill for a weekend stay September 27th. We had requested a particular room which we were able to have. It was lovely and spacious and well appointed but I expect it might be hot in summer. The staff were helpful especially in the restaurant and the food was fab, some of the best dinners Ive had for a very long time. The only downside was the horrible cake included with tea but that is a minor quibble. Happy days indeed. I do hope the hotel and staff come out of this horrible time so we can return for another lovely break.

Me and my wife had an excellent three course meal off their Al a carte menu. The food was lovely, the service was really nice and friendly. We had started with two very nice cocktails in the cocktail bar which we would highly recommend.
