A great hotel, really good value and staff were very helpful and friendly. My room was clean and had a lovely sea view. Had a great breakfast and evening meal. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Eastbourne.

We picked West Rocks Hotel to host our annual gym trek and they accommodated all 59 of us plus 3 doggies!
Firstly, the staff were excellent. Very helpful, attentive and organised in their handling of us. We were late for dinner on the Saturday evening due to the walk over running but they handled it very well - it can't have been easy postponing 59 covers and then serving all of us in one hit!
Secondly, the food was really good. Breakfast; full English breakfast buffet plus pastries, fruit etc. was a great start to the day. The dinner was equally as good.
Regarding some of the rooms and hallways, yes it is dated in areas. I understand they are refurbishing the hotel so I'm sure this will change soon. Personally, our room was newly decorated, had a sea view, was comfortable, clean and the shower pressure was good.
To summarise, great weekend, brilliant value and helpful staff. If you're fussed by decor, asked for a refurbished room when booking! Will definitely visit again.

Visited the West Rocks with a large group of walkers this weekend. Given the info about the low cost of the accommodation and food, we weren't expecting much really but were very pleasantly surprised.
We received a warm welcome at reception by Ian and Maddy.
Our room was immaculately clean, super comfortable beds. The bathroom was very small but again, immaculately clean.
Delicious breakfast buffet the following morning with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and hot food.
Following our return from our walk on Saturday afternoon, the staff were happy to serve us hot and cold beverages which were much needed after a 17 mile walk.
We had already pre-chosen our meal for Saturday evening as we were in such a large group. The food we were served was hot, delicious and served to us all in a timely fashion so were all able to eat together. The beetroot tart that I had was totally yummy!!

Just returned from a two night stay here - and really want to give it a good review as there were so many things that were good about it and I really warmed to the place, but I also want to add some honest comments so that people don't get the wrong impression. It was a very friendly hotel, very reasonably priced and perfect for the huge group of walkers who took it over for the weekend, with a few dogs too. The food was very good, staff very friendly and helpful, and our family room had 3 very comfy luxurious beds with lovely new bedding etc. The place was also spotlessly clean. However, the hotel is still being refurbished and a few things are quirky/hit and miss. The lift is so old fashioned it scared us and our bathroom was so tiny, you could hardly sit on the loo - and the shower was a trickle! I must stress though that although the bathroom was ancient - it was so clean you couldn't moan really. This place will be amazing when it's finished - but just be warned - you may be lucky and get a new bit - or you may not! But the cheapness of it hopefully compensates for that! I'd still go again and would recommend a friend, with a few caveats.

We visit Eastbourne regularly and have done so for the past 15 years. The West Rocks Hotel is an hotel which we were not aware of until this year. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was very clean and comfortable. The bar menu is excellent. The welcome Steve and the chef gave us was very friendly and the food lived up to expectation. We haven't tried the Channel Restaurant yet but will do next time. The breakfasts are also as "yummy" as promised! We will certainly be back.

We were a group of 4 staying here one night this week and were extremely happy with the whole experience. Yes, the hotel is being refurbished and what has been already done is just superb. The bar, dining room and breakfast were modern, light and airy.
Our room was quite small and the bathroom has yet to be completed yet it had all we needed.
The staff are amazing and very helpful especially the bar manager.
The only down side was no wifi in the rooms but I gather this will come later in the year

Having read previous reviews I was not too sure what to expect but as the West Rocks is one of the very few doggy-friendly hotels in Eastbourne and as we were only staying one night we decided to give it a go. We were disappointed that we didn't have more time there and just can't wait to come back! The hotel is being refurbished but is more or less finished. Our room was light and spacious. The bed was the best I've ever slept in away from home and the bed linen was sumptious. It is true that the carpet in the hallways still has to be replaced, and the lift is a bit ancient but these are minor quirks compared to the delicious breakfast and the top quality restaurant.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful long-weekend Easter break from 3-6 April (2015) and would definitely go back again. We were warmly welcomed and our room was perfect for our needs and only a stone's-throw from the ground floor.
The food was great, with a good choice for breakfast and evening meals. We were really pleased that the main town and promenade were so easy to reach by foot and when we weren't out enjoying the sights, we enjoyed the views from their bar, and also from the lounge, with lovely sea views.
Parking was easy nearby and the hotel offer a voucher for £1 to cover all parking expenses (on street is only £4 for 24 hrs though).
Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable, with staff who were attentive and friendly and this really makes a difference in feeling that you are truly 'home-from-home'.
Attractions nearby include: the long promenade for walking and taking in the views; shops and restaurants 10 mins walk away; the Bandstand on the promenade holds regular outdoor concert; the pier (currently being repaired after fire); Beachy Head about 15mins drive away; South Downs country walks. Plus of course the beach is just over the road!

Just got back from west Rock hotel. Situated right on sea front. Close to pier and 3-4 mins to shops and bars and resturants. 10mns to train station walking. Stayed on b/b. Room was very comfortable. Ensuite a bit dated but fine. Breakfast in morning was good. Great choice. Thanks to Maddy and team. Made us feel very welcome. Defiantly b Back. Stayed 18th april

I checked into this hotel for one night whilst on business in the area and was delighted I made that choice. The hotel is newly refurbished and the rooms are fantastic. I had a great sea view in an airy and large room. All the communal areas are beautifully presented with a particularly nice area on the ground floor to eat.
Breakfast offered a good selection and was very enjoyable. All in all a superb experience. One I will repeat.

A lovely small hotel where the staff are friendly and helpful. Ors was a smaller room but very comfortable , there were bigger rooms. Breakfast was in a newly refurbished basement with lovely views of the sea and was a great freshly cooked choice plus everything else you could ask for .Weate there in the evening too.Service was good- well done Steve. We'll be back!

We stayed here for the weekend when we were viewing property in the area. This hotel was under refurbishment when we stayed yet we had a very good experience. Nice room with great sea views. Friendly and efficient staff. Very good value.

We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding in Eastbourne. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful & welcoming.
The hotel was in a lovely location on the seafront and we had no problem parking using a permit from the hotel. The hotel did seem slightly tired - some dodgy floorboards and paintwork but we did read that it is in the process of being done up. But for what we paid, I was happy - the room was basic but clean and had everything we need. Bed was lovely and comfy and the shower was really powerful and got a good nights sleep - always the main things you need from a hotel id say!
We had lunch and dinner at the hotel and have to say the food was fab! The dinner was amazing with great choice - my dad said it was the best steak he'd had in years! And the price was so reasonable for great food. Breakfast was also good - couldn't fault it.
My parents paid a bit more for a sea view room which did give a lovely view so that would be worry considering.

Spent one night here with my family. We all absolutely loved it! it is not five star luxury, but it is warm and friendly from the moment you walk through the front door. Our rooms were really good, The bar and lounge are very nice, as is the restaurant which has an excellent menu. Breakfast was served in a more basic basement restaurant but was also very good quality.
The staff, led by Nick the manager are super. The refurbishment of the hotel is almost complete - there were workmen around but absolutely no noise or disruption to our all too short overnight stay.

Friendly and extremely professional service from all staff at all times- nothing is too much trouble
Booked a last minute break with my teenage daughter and the drizzle meant we voted to stay in ( apart from a walk through the winding backstreets of Eastbourne to buy books and a quick visit to Beachy Head to the National Trust cafe) but this was a plus- we sampled everything the West Rocks had to offer and it was great.
What was even more of a plus? This is a hotel priced to cater for all clients but delivers at the top end.
The old saying 'you get what you pay for' doesn't apply here. You get so much more.
Coming back? Definitely.
Leaving it to chance? Most certainly not! Already booked for August.

Visited the West Rocks hotel yesterday, for a one night stay. Very warm welcome from reception staff, giving full information regarding our stay. Lovely old building, very clean, lovely room with good size bathroom, sea views through huge clean windows! Breakfast was absolutely delicious! We arrived at the start of breakfast, 7.30am, everything was so fresh and cooked to perfection! Staff were very friendly and most helpful. Will definitely return here, we loved our stay 😊👍

The last time I was in Eastbourne, I was pregnant & so, I thought I'd bring my daughter back to see it for herself. The West Rocks Hotel didn't exist & as it had a sea view, it sounded ideal. Indeed, although redecorating was taking place, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or helpful. The attached restaurant boasts fresh caught fish in addition to other delicacies; it was excellent.
If you're looking for a seaside break with superlative service, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Parking was easy, directly outside the front of the hotel with a £1 per day pass supplied by the hotel. This may be trickier in peak seasons though.
We paid a reasonable £79 for a large double room which was nicely decorated, clean and had the basics. The staff very friendly and helpful and the hotel incorporates one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne, The Channel Restaurant.
Our stay was very pleasant and I'd definitely consider staying here again.

They are trying very hard; BUT, it's like organised chaos.
Staff seem to be running round like headless chickens most of the time.
They are undoubtedly a friendly bunch, but, this is not a professionally run establishment.

It's a new business in a great location with enthusiastic young staff. Extremely good value for money & the hotel was full. There's a nice buzz about the place. The building is being renovated so don't expect perfection but the bed was very comfy, the room was clean, thick fluffy white towels, tea & coffee on tap, TV was fine & huge well cooked brekky. What's not to like? I will be back & wish them well.

The West Rocks has a perfect location and is on the whole a good hotel. It is very well maintained and the public areas are refurbished, bright and airy. Our standard double room (No 7) was small. We checked in quite late and literally dumped our bags before going out to eat as the restaurant was closed. Coming back later, we realised that we had a wash hand basic incorporated into the vanity/work surface in the bedroom - odd, we thought. However, we then saw that the en suite shower room was so tiny, that there was clearly no other place for the basin to to be. In fact there was not even room for a towel rail in the shower room, so all I would say is that if you expect more than a functional room, not a lot larger than a telephone box in which to get ready, then The West Rocks isn't for you. We did in fact ask to be moved the following morning, but the 2nd room on offer (No.21) was hardly any better. I can't comment on any other grade of room, but I am sure that if Deluxe or Executive Rooms exist they are better/larger. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was second to none.

We searched for a hotel in Eastbourne at a reasonable price as we were going to one of the Theatres to see The hollies. I found this hotel on-line but was not 100% convinced it would suit us... how wrong could I be! The hotel staff were all friendly and attentive. The hotel is clean and tidy and is constantly being ungraded. It is situated on the beach front and is so close to all the amenities. We decided to eat at the Hotel in the evening and cant praise the chef enough, the food was superb.
I think we have found a gem of a hotel and will definitely stay here again, the next time we are in Eastbourne.
