My wife and I had another very enjoyable and relaxing break. The Grand Hotel is located in a lovely part of Sussex. The promenade must be one of the most attractive in the UK, accessible at three different levels. We chose to take the bracing walk to Beachy Head followed by an equally enjoyable visit to Birling Gap. A short walk in the other direction and we enjoyed excellent fish and chips at the Pier cafe.
All this exercise is an ideal preparation/ excuse to take full advantage of the splendid facilities of the hotel. The comfort of the room with a splendid sea view, together with all the other amenities, in particular the restaurants, left us with some very happy memories. Above all however our overriding impression was of a friendly and helpful staff who did everything they could to make sure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. On one of the days we were there the car park was like a tin of sardines and it was amazing how the staff were able to move the cars around, as in a game, to free the car that needed an exit. We ate in the Mirabelle restaurant and the work of Elena, Calvin and Ben made us realise just how important the staff are in enhancing the dining occasion. We have visited the Grand Hotel on many occasions during the last three years and it is noticeable that many of the staff are still there.
We are looking forward to our next visit.

We like to stay at this hotel because it is convenient for us to visit family. We always find it to be really comfortable too. The hotel has other facilities we can use if we wish and we are very near to the town to have a good look around and shop. The theatres are close by and we usually have an evening out and enjoy what's on. The staff at the hotel are always very pleasant and helpful.

Again after a short time we visited this wonderful hotel, and we will come back soon. The dedication of the staff , the good food and beverage is remarkable. We really like the atmosphere of the typical British hotel so much.

felt the bedroom was tired for a deluxe room. The only dinner taken was very average for the price. We eat out 2nights and that was better. Bedroom roomy but toilet was stained and shower dated. The entertainment was okay on each night. I felt the service was average for a 5 star hotel. I don't think the restaurant was very good for dinner. There is better value in restaurants in the area. The porter /door service was excellent. Not happy I was asked for payment on arrival when I had already pre paid. The entrance/lounges are very nice, but feel this hotel is riding on its past reputation. We had a deluxe room but it was very average and bathroom was dated.

We stayed for two nights in early April and found a beautiful hotel with excellent staff. The disappointment was when we had dinner in their Mirabelle Restaurant. The quality of food was terrible and my wifes fish dish had been placed in a hot oven to keep warm and resulted in a scorched surface and hard fish. A succulent John Dory ruined !! My own lamb dish was so tough that it was difficult to cut let alone chew. We have never experienced such poor quality and overpriced food in a so called top restaurant. What a shame to ruin a beautiful hotel with a poor a la carte restaurant.

Booked a deluxe room with quuen bed with side sea view. The room was not as pictured and was difficult to get round side of bed. Bed was not a queen bed and room was very small and very warm at night. Having not slept very well the first night we Asked to move rooms and paid £90 more per night.

Easter in the grand hotel perfect has usual . The staff are wonderful. All round great . We always have half board in booking . I have stayed in some of the finest hotels in Europe this is on parr. Sea view room is a must if possible. Why would you not want to dress for dinner? Class elegance yet again will be returning.

Lovely hotel, great staff, beach side location, the heated pools were great temperature. Breakfast was wonderful and the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing to much trouble.
Our room had recently been refurbished, very nice decor.

a wonderful venue, superb rooms with very good chambermaids. Food rather ordinary for prices charged, then a surcharge on top. Restaurant staff need better training, but I have to concede that the hotel was very full, and the staff on the whole very kind and obliging.
The putting green needs mowing more often! BUT ENJOYED MY TIME WITH YOU IMMENSELY

We have been coming to the Grand for the last 20 years. Although many things have changed, we still feel that the traditional standards are largely maintained. For example, we love the ease of check-in, the concierges look after you and park your car, whisk your luggage to your room and will help you in any way they can. The housekeepers still offer a turndown service, room service is excellent, and breakfast is mostly cooked to order - with undyed haddock, kippers, kidneys and smoked salmon on the menu. The garden restaurant is excellent, if a little busy, we also love the Mirabelle, which has a superb wine list.

I stayed in The Grand Hotel for a week. I have never experienced such friendly and competent staff before, I fealt very comfortable.
The food was delicious and the drinks perfect.
The room was always clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable.
I cannot rate the spa, my wellness was walking along the seaside :-)
The only issue was the view of the room, I looked against a wall.

The Grand lives its traditional values in a very authentic way offering a valued experience different to many other hotels. The attention to detail and knowledge of staff is commendable. You will feel a valued client.

My friend and I decided we some much needed time to relaxed and rejuvenate so deceived to book a spa weekend at the Grand hotel Eastbourne. The hotel did not disappoint. The staff the perfect amount of friendly as we entered and checked in. Followed by beautiful music played in the tea room. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. I especially liked the variety of teas to choose from.
The spa was lovely and inviting and good to note that it’s fine to bring families into the area which was a lovely touch.
My highlight was the Sunday night entertainment. The hotel had a local band play the hits whilst we drunk tasty cocktails, I had an espresso martini.
I will definitely be coming back! Perfection.

As it is The Grand you do look for faults and the decor is tatty in places. Rooms are a good size. Breakfast was very good. Service very good and all staff very polite. Not a lot of evening meal options if you don’t want a fancy meal. You can’t order bar food and a lot of room service food apart from sandwiches after 6pm. Pool is small and not good to share. Pillows were awful and we had two twin beds put together so dipped in the middle. 3/5 for us due to lack of food options and bad night sleep from pillows and bed. Came away wanting something more modern.

Booked an executive, seaview room for a three night break. The concierge who met us on arrival was extremely efficient and our bags were transported to our room. Check-in was carried out quickly and we were shown to our room which was well appointed and had a great view over the bay. All the staff in the hotel were friendly and professional. The hotel itself is of a very good quality with reference to it's historic past well in evidence. The hotel has a wonderful spa with up to date facilities. All in all, a very nice and relaxing stay. I have covered the two restaurants in separate reviews.

A short break to celebrate our Golden Wedding at our favourite hotel. As usual everything was perfect and the staff were very curtious. The room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. We especially enjoyed the afternoon tea in its beautiful surroundings.

The Hotel is good, staff are very friendly, but the Hotel is falling behind the times with certain aspects, mainly the very, very poor Wi-Fi coverage and the Dog policy is rather unfriendly to say the least...
I think It just needs to realise that whist the over 70's may love the "old style" If they want to attract/keep a younger clientele they may need to move into the 21st Century !

Lovely experience during our stay, expensive very good standard of rooms if you are prepared to pay the high rates.
Restaurant not so good for variety of food but plenty of other restaurants within walking distance or better if you have a car and can venture further

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary which we did mention when we booked.
When we arrived at the hotel there was no mention of the anniversary.
We expect more from a 5 star hotel.
We were shown to our room which was small not even a card to say happy anniversary.
We went for a walk for a couple of hours then when we returned to our room we decided to ask to se the manager.
The manager apologised and said that our special occasion should have been acknowledged.
She sorted out a larger room and sent us some champagne and strawberries also an anniversary card.
After this we were very happy and enjoyed the rest of our stay.
I think the staff on the front desk need to pay more attention to bookings and ask if people are celebrating an occasion, which most hotels of that quality do.

The Grand is everything it says it is. VERY GRAND INDEED. Beauiful hotel and from the moment we arrived we were made welcome and this made us feel very relaxed. The Grand is family friendlly and is very inviting with no pomp and circumstance. Staff are very attentive and very accomdating which means we are already planning future dates for when we will stay again.

Amazing hotel, everything you expect from a 5 star hotel. Our room was a bit dated, needed a little more of a modern touch! Food was excellent but the drinks are very expensive especially the soft drinks. Had a great stay!

All the staff seemed to be aware of my Birthday and made it a weekend to remember.
The Gallery Layout, the pre-Dinner drinks in the Bar and the help with cutting my Birthday Cake I had taken down all help to make it a great experience.

From the moment of arrival to final departure the stay was the best encountered from many other hotel experiences we have had. The Hotel is immaculately maintained and the attention to service and courtesy of staff unrivaled. The facilities from the Restaurant to the Spa and the accommodation are excellent and certainly promote a quiet and restful stay especially taking into account the surrounding areas with Beachy Head nearby if one does want to wander out of the Hotel.
If ratings are out of 10 then on the basis of our experience it would be a 12+
