Wonderful hotel with fantastic staff. We came for our ten year anniversary and were impressed from the moment we arrived. A great setting. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful and we would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going.

We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner in the Garden restaurant of the hotel with the drinks in the bar beforehand. The bar and restaurant staff were very attentive and polite as should've expected. A choice of menus were offered with varying prices according to the selection made. Something for most palates, although priced accordingly. Silver service and nice presentation
Overall the hotel offered an exquisite step back in time. Surprising that a notice suggested that jackets and collared shirts were required in the dining room, yet a number of male diners were without jackets. Rules should either be applied consistently , adhered to, otherwise change them. Perhaps more years and they feature upsetting guests.
The Grand is by far the best hotel around and deserves its 5* ranking. I would only have marked it down slightly for the rather fatty lamb meal on my plate when other guests meals seemed to be lean. This said, it would not stop me from returning.
My outlay was broadly priced as expected offering better value than some baighbouring hotels.

My Mum and I are currently staying at the hotel for a few nights - joining family friends who come every year for the Eastbourne Airshow.

The hotel itself is lovely - old but very grand by name and nature. The staff are all friendly and professional (service can be a little slow but, we’re not in a hurry). The rooms are large and clean and the Molton Brown amenities don’t go amiss 💖

We booked into the spa for a couple of treatments. I had a back, neck and shoulders massage by a truly fabulous therapist called Beatrice. She was so friendly and bubbly and left nothing spare when working in my ridiculously tense shoulders. It was exactly what I needed and I left feeling more relaxed and ‘worked on’ than I ever have from a non sports specific massage. 💆🏻‍♀️

The tasting menu with wine flight in the Mirabelle restaurant was also a lovely dining experience - the lamb with Pinot Noir was particularly delicious! 🍷

An old school, classic and indulgent weekend. 🌟

Had a really beautiful afternoon tea. Staff very friendly and helpful. Caters for vegetarians in the sandwich selections. Stunning surroundings, architecture and just opposite the sea! An afternoon well spent. Thank you!

The elderly queen of hotels in Eastbourne was a nostalgic visit for a former Eastbourne local and it was good to visit the grand dame and enjoy her company. It is clear that she remembers her past glories, but still offers pleasant company if one is willing to overlook the stumbles of one so much in her dotage.I found our stay pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable, however there were many foibles which could irritate the perfectionists as illustrated by some of the poor reviews. The glitches other uncovered are still there and we also experienced which mean that it cannot be a five star review, but very good non-the-less.Examples of Excellence:Snooker room. How many hotels still have an Edwardian snooker room fully equipped and in pristine condition? Worth the stay to play here for this alone.Swimming Pools: Two, one inside and one out. Excellent swimming also with provision for the little ones. The opening hours are generous.Restaurants: Two to choose from, and at dinner the Chef's and food are clearly first class as is the wine list with many local English wines of excellent character on offer. The menus are seasonal and offer set menus, a la carte and tasting options. Several examples of superb service.Bar: Excellent menu of a wide variety of new and classic cocktails, well made and tasteful.Rooms: Spacious with excellent bathrooms, plenty of hot water and towels. Good beds and excellent sleeping quality.Concierge: Helpful with valet parking and luggage assistance.Front Desk: Quick prompt and efficient.Public Areas: Large, light airy, classic, well furnished.Examples of Tiredness:Maintenance: In public and bedrooms there are examples of slipped maintenance. Faults have not been detected by inspection or fixed on report or the fixes are not of five star quality. The kind of things that a pedant would be irritated by.Rooms: Lacking refrigerators and folding luggage stands. Cleanliness of furniture could do with more attention to keep a pedant happy.Restaurants: Could do better to support dietary requirements. For example a modern excellent sausage would be gluten and dairy free (containing no fillers); theirs is not. Muddled up breakfast orders and delivered courses in the wrong order; failed to top up wine glasses at dinner with ice bucket out of reach. Not fully au-fait with local English wines of excellence.Bars: Craft Beer is the new cocktail. Heineken is not a five star beer offering!Pools: No spin drier for wet costumes

Nothing is too much trouble. From the moment the concierge greet you and park your car until you leave you are absolutely pampered.Breakfast is a feast of freshly prepared choices including porridge and smoked haddock.Easily the very best UK hotel.

We spent two nights at the Grand in August. Everything went well and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bedroom was lovely. We ate in both the Mirabel and Garden restaurants and the food was excellent. The Hotel staff were attentive and helpful.

although this hotel has all the up-to-date facilities, we went for the old world quality of service, location and the charm of the fast diminishing by-gone days. We were not disappointed. Although we didn't use the spa facilities, we were shown around by staff and they looked really good. Next time maybe? The food was served with grace and attentiveness and the car parking service was very reassuring.

The main corridors of the hotel are quite tired looking, but service is good. Some rooms are better than others, ours was very small. Breakfast was very good and it was nice to have the use of an outdoor and indoor pool, but both would have benefitted from some maintenance. We had a very disturbed night because the fire alarm went off at 3:45am one night, and it took until 6.20am for it to be sorted out, and the way it was dealt with was not up to the standard expected. You pay for the reputation, but overall not what I was expecting from a 5 star hotel.

A quintessentially English Hotel, Old School charm and first rate service. A great place to escape from the hurly burly of every day life and be pampered. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, but do lack some modern comforts such as a fridge and some need updating

It was a lovely place to stay. The only little down point with the room 410 was when the male went to the toilet had to hold the toilet seat up .Not hands free . The bed creaked as well when turning over in bed tried myself to move the mattress but too heavy .

A great place to stay, beautiful hotel, great food and service. Eastbourne is a great place, it is kept clean and tidy. During the summer months plenty going on. also the beach never seems packed which i love, i can't stand crammed beaches.

The Grand Hotel certainly lives up to it's name. From the welcome you receive until being wished a pleasant journey on departure, the customer service cannot be faulted.

The food is excellent both dinner and breakfast (the Grand being one of the few places which still serve kidneys for breakfast).

The outdoor pool a bit on the small side but a fantastic setting on a sunny day and a well equipped gym, will help you to work off the food.

The rooms are well decorated with good quality furnishing and pod coffee facilities. Slippers and robes are provided to add to the comfort. Being an older hotel, 'The Grand' does not have air conditioning, but we were pleased to see the addition of a powerful vertical fan since our last visit.

We look forward to returning!

We have just returned on Saturday 11th August after celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary, having had a four day spa break at the Grand Hotel. Apart from two days of the worst weather Eastbourne has seen in many months, our stay at the Grand was a very enjoyable experience .Very friendly, courteous, and helpful staff in all area's. We had originally booked a Delux Room, but with a big thank's to the Management we received an upgrade to a room situated to the rear of the hotel .A large room, very clean,a very large bed, with a comfortable Mattress. The downside, although the room
had two large windows the room was very dark, not helped by having very dated dark furniture and a dark carpet. Out of the four nights we stayed there we lost a lot of sleep on two of the nights due to outside noise from refuse bins being moved and emptied early in the morning. On Thursday morning at about 4am the fire alarms went
so we had to evacuate the room, thankfully there was no fire, we returned to our room at about 5am. Unfortunately it was 7.30am before they could deactivate the fire alarms from going off. The two restaurants are elegant. The food was very good without being exceptional, with good size portions. The Breakfast was outstanding the best we have had anywhere . The Gym and Spa we felt were average for a top class hotel, the Spa treatments were excellent. For us there were more plus than negatives. We would stay there again, although we both felt the hotel was overall more of a high end 4star than a 5star.

Lovely old style elegant hotel. Great facilities, lovely room, good food (especially the breakfast) and wonderful staff who were without exception friendly, polite and helpful.
Enjoyed the musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday. We felt that we had been well looked after and pampered during our stay.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you The Grand.

We enjoyed a week's stay in this beautiful hotel on the coast to celebrate a significant birthday. From our arrival to a warm welcome by the concierge, we were very impressed by the friendliness, courtesy, efficiency and professionalism of the staff. The ground floor public rooms are beautiful, whilst the outdoor pool is a real bonus. Our room, 128, was a sea view suite with a spacious balcony and very comfortable, though in need of a little tlc.
We would happily return.

I booked for myself and my husband to stay at The Grand as a surprise for my husband it was our 11th wedding anniversary and we had got married at The Grand so it was a lovely surprise for my husband. The hotel upgraded us to an executive room which was lovely and made the stay extra special for us both. I had previously booked for us to have dinner the first night we had dinner in the Garden restaurant. Everything was going well the service was very good apart from the delay that we had from having our starters we seemed to wait a very long time for our main course to arrive and the staff didn't seem to come near to our table for us to find out what the delay was. When we was able to ask a member of staff what the problem was we had been waiting nearly 45minutes. The food was very good and tasty just a little disappointing that we was not kept informed about a delay. The next day breakfast was very good with a wide range of cereal, juices, cooked breakfast and the staff were very helpful. The second night we dined in The mirabelle restaurant which was very nice and romantic the food was excellent and a good variety of gluten free meals. If you want to stay somewhere that is old fashioned but very comfortable for a special occasion it is the right place to stay

We chose the hotel for a quiet weekend from London.
Very warm welcome from reception and wonderful warm staff our entire stay.
Clean rooms but the hotel itself was dated and a little faded.
We are at the garden restaurant which was recommended by reception when we booked as being informal and like a ‘nice pub’. I think the cheapest menu was £70 and that was very basic, cheapest bottle of wine about £68. Food was ok, a little bland and boring, service impeccable, overpriced for the quality of food.
A pleasant stay but would not return as old fashioned and expensive for what you get. Really lovely staff though!!

Most enjoyable at all times. Very good size and comfortable room. We travelled with a small dog and were pleased to have a dog bed and food provided, as requested before we arrived. We stayed on a B & B. basis on this occasion and had first class breakfasts each morning.

Has the location and the old fashioned cache but is let down by very expensive, average restaurants with staff that have not been properly trained plus no proper air conditioning in the room, which ought to be a pre-requisite in a 5 star hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bellman great but this place has the potential to be so much better.
