Can't fault the staff, food was lovely.
However not impressed that I stayed in a room which dogs are also allowed to stay in considering I am allergic to dog hair.
I wasn't aware of this until I was speaking to a dog owner ,I thought there would have been designated rooms for dog owners

Could have bars of soap rather than bottles of shower gel which could be unhygenic. But service of a high standard throughout the hotel. Nothing is ever to much to ask for. Kindness is prominent. THANK you for having us. We hope to return one day.

We loved our mini break at the Grand! We took our dog Annie and they were So accommodating, she had her own bed and a doggie goodie bag to welcome her. We had sea views. The hotel was Grand in the real sense of the word. The room was spacious and clean. the breakfast delicious.
The hotel common areas were stunning. One teeny complaint is that the furnishings were a little tired and need updating. However the linens were top quality.
we will for sure be back with friends. Thank You Grand!

Another visit to one of our favourite places in Eastbourne.
It's a beautiful sunny day and decided to treat ourselves to an early lunch on the terrace at The 5 star Grand, Greek Feta cheese and salad sandwich for my husband, and Tuna Mayonnaise for me.
There are sides/extras on the menu as well, fries, coleslaw etc.. But it was perfect for a lite bite and tea for two. Plus you get a large shortbread biscuit each served with the tea.

It was also a chance to catch up with an old friend who's been there all the time we've been going/staying over 10 years. Lovely David Roby the concierge, always looking gorgeous, a front man representing The Grand.
Very enjoyable again. We'll be back.

We enjoyed our visit, room and balcony fabulous.
Staff were wonderful and were most helpful.
The bar and lounges could have done with more ventilation and fans as the areas became quite uncomfortable in the hot weather. More could have been done to help the customers relax

Initially booked two nights here for a short stay after our wedding. Aside from a couple of gripes, we had an otherwise 5 star experience as should be expected. We arrived at 11pm taking advantage of the 24 hour check in, and all our expectations were exceeded until discovering the WiFi in our room wasn't working. After reporting the issues in the morning we were given a room upgrade which thankfully had working WiFi, albeit average speeds for a public connection. This highlights the brilliant service to be expected by the staff at the hotel, and their stellar management of complaints. Unfortunately the room we were given was situated directly above the kitchens, and some fairly noisy extractor fans. This provided a poor night's sleep, which regardless of the room cost should be the first priority of any hotel (let alone one of such reputation).

Amazing hotel. Wonderful staff. Two night stay while visiting family. Stayed with my wife and two children (4 and 1). We stayed in a junior suite. Amazing with children, childcare was amazing.

Try not to look at the bar prices though. Just drink with your eyes closed.

Great 5* seafront hotel and part of the Elite Group of hotels. Worth joining the Elite Club scheme if stays are frequent midweek with 2 for 1 dining options and reduced room rates.
Mirabelle restaurant a must for fine dining with Ben and his capable assistant.

Had the best experience, very professional, amazing atmosphere and brilliant friendly staff who made me feel very important. I also enjoyed the atmosphere in the evening with the great Jazz singer, first time I have been to a hotel by the seaside and not wanted to leave the hotel.

I stayed here a number of times during the 1980s and 1990s so I have a soft spot for this hotel. It was always listed as a 5 Star hotel but at that time it was very tired indeed. I believe it was refurbished in 1998 and it is certainly very Grand. Our room was large at around 900 square feet and was sea facing. The ceilings are maybe 12 feet high so you get fantastic light and a feeling of spaciousness. The accommodation is comfortable rather than luxurious and the carpets, furniture and woodwork could all do with some renovation. In this respect it reminded me of the hotel 30 years ago. The building itself is enormous and in staying here you feel as if you are part of a separate town. It is very encompassing and you feel like you never need to leave. The public areas are very impressive and well kept with a lot of historical detailing in the architecture. The service is attentive in the extreme. You will never have to search far for a member of staff. The facilities are plentiful though in a hotel this huge it may take a while to find all of them. There is a tangible sense of history here in the photographs of the band leaders for instance or in the list of the famous who have stayed here. It is an experience in itself just to wander the huge corridors with their stained glass windows. The breakfasts are superb and the main restaurant will not disappoint, the dishes and silver service hark back to a forgotten era. I especially enjoyed the Crepe Suzette flambéed at our table. Many families come here several generations at a time and come back again and again. If you stay here you will understand why.

We stayed for two nights at the weekend. Had a very warm welcome where our car and luggage was taken care of. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much. Brilliant breakfast when ordered direct from the menu. I liked the character of the hotel with its great location on the coast. Short walk to the pier and town shops. They do have WiFi but in our room on the third floor it was very weak. We would have liked to have air conditioning in the room but fans were provided.

Careful of the indoor pool, steps slippery and I hurt my back when my footing slipped. No one there to help. Now suffering. Would not have paid for this experience. Lucky it was a gift! Also shower difficult to define what lotion was what I'm the Ladies as unlabelled.

Our recent stay at The Grand was simply a delightful experience. From the fabulous ground floor room with doors leading onto the terrace and outdoor pool, to the elegant luxury of the Garden Restaurant, and the concern and care on the part of the Head Waiter, Mr Sousa, in relation to my elderly mother, our time at The Grand was perfect!

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at the hotel with our family. This is the second year we have been there as our grandchildren like the hotel and especially the outside pool.

This hotel is the only 5 star hotel in Eastbourne but you cannot compare this hotel to other 5 star hotels.

Firstly, the hotel is in a time warp, it does not have air conditioning, the phone signal is useless and the free wifi will just about send an email after a few minutes. However, what it does have is staff who care about their guests and to find that today is a real treat. From the moment you arrive, the doormen to receptionists, restaurant and bar staff and housekeeping all care about the guests.

My only gripe is the area around the outside pool. First of all, all the furniture needs to be put on a skip and the hotel needs to buy new sun loungers with proper sun bed cushions. Also the furniture on the terrace needs to be replaced or at least renovated.

Apart from that, its a hotel with a great piece of history!

We are very fond of the Grand and had our summer holiday there from 17-24 July 2018. Our only niggle would be that a young woman turned up to breakfast one morning in her dressing gown in spite of a notice saying

We couldn’t have been made more welcome. Greeted by a wonderful concierge team, taken to our interconnecting rooms and told about the hotel on our way. We had breakfast and two of our evening meals in the Garden Restaurant. The food was lovely and made all that more special by everyone calling us by name each time. We only mentioned that our granddaughter was vegetarian and that was remembered and passed to The Mirabelle where we ate the final night. Superb food and again, outstanding service.
Loved everything about this stay and will definitely come again.

We came to spread our parents ashes locally and my brother and I stayed at the Hotel. It is a lovely Hotel and the staff and facilities were lovely. A bit disappointed with the menu choices in the Garden Restaurant and the heat in there for dinner was unbearably hot but otherwise I would return. Using the outside pool was wonderful.
