We really enjoyed our stay in superb weather. The staff are excellent and the meals good. We preferred the GardenRestaurant over the 'gourmet ' Mirabelle

We thought by booking a 5star hotel we would receive 5 star standards. Disappointingly this wasn't the case. Arrival was great at Reception by welcoming staff. Our room was so disappointing. It was small and so very, very hot!! The matress was reallt old and lumpy. We had a terrible night's sleep due to no aircon and the bad matress. Breaksfast was lovely but the resaturant was hot and stuffy. The hotel needs a lot of work inside as it's very tired and dated
The staff were all lovely

Illustrious and traditional hotel with impeccable service - attentive but not over fussy. The rooms are spacious and adequate, the bar area was comfortable and relaxing, drinks list extensive. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and delicious. A lovely experience, felt like yesteryear!

Try to book a room with a king bed. We booked a double room not realising we would get a very soft 4ft 6ins bed. Bed linen was of a good quality but that didn’t make up for the uncomfortable bed and we were glad we only had one night there. We overheard another couple asking for a change of mattress or to be moved to another room because of their bed. Our room was rather tired with scuffed furniture and the bathroom required updating. The public rooms are superb and the staff work very hard and are friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The parking attendants did a great job in finding parking spots and moving cars around.

Step back in time with old school grandeur throughout the hotel. All the staff were beyond helpful and polite, it was such a breath of fresh air. The outdoor pool is perfect for the current heatwave and the location is ideal. I really can't fault this hotel it was fabulous!

I visited the Grand Hotel Spa today with 10 family members ranging from 23yrs to 80yrs. We had the mini pamper package which included a treatment and use of the spa. we were given the use of a large room with comfy armchairs. Tea and coffee a light lunch as use of the spa. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their treatments which included express back massage, indian head massage, and Turkish salt scrub. The staff were brilliant, and went out of their way to make the day really special for us. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.. I would definitely recommend it and would visit again.

A Saturday night anniversary meal at The Grand was not “as grand” as remembered. We were disappointed that having a pre dinner drink in the bar we had to go up to the bar to order, had to ask for menus then 10 minutes after our table booking walked through to the restuarant carrying our drinks to be left standing at the dining room entrance whilst staff chatted.
Our meal was lovely however the sommelier was very quick to top up our already filled glasses to empty the bottle.
Drinks in the lounge after dinner were nice however we noted no petit fours - all changed from our last experience 2 years ago. The attention to detail was lacking as was the personal touch that previously is what set this hotel above the rest.

From the time you arrive at front door and met by concierge the staff at the hotel are amazing. We had our wedding here 3 years ago and always look forward to returning. Guests at the wedding still comment on the arrangements and service we all received.

We on any anniversary make a point of booking two days at this wonderful hotel

Thanks to all the staff from Jonathan Webly Sarah Clifford-Smith, Jason Hill etc down to the chamber maids you all do a great job

thanks so much

Good food and accommodation. As part of the Chris Pollard group we had a n excellent dinner on our first night delicious meal and well selected wines. The most polite and helpful staff in all areas and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The public spaces were attractive and comfortable. Hope I can return!

Excellent location and hotel common areas. Problem with first room being too hot and had to be relocated. Second room excellent. Food quality in the reataurants disappointing for a 5 star hotel. Breakfasts and lounge food excellent.

We would usually stay at a cheaper hotel but thus was excellent for a special occasion. The staff are very friendly. A slight drawback was very low cold water pressure in our 3rd floor bedroom. We were surprised there was not a fridge in our Executive room, but a small portable fridge was provided on request.

We asked to change our room as it was in the middle of the hotel overlooking the boilers perhaps, a vast mass of pipework. For a slightly increased room rate we were moved to a lovely room which looked out over the car park and swimming pool. The staff were always very polite and helpful and we had a lovely meal in the Garden restaurant on our last night.

Hotel was lovely, the room was lovely and big with a big bathroom and sea view. The food was wonderful. Staff very helpful. Pool was fabulous and just heated at the right temperature. The Mirabelle restaurant was wonderful. You could not fault the food.

Lovely hotel, set on the edge of the town so a nice easy walk to lots of bars, restaurants and the pier! Very polite staff on check-in, the bars and around the hotel. Room was lovely and clean, there was no fridge in our room which would have been useful in all this hot weather to keep a drink or two cold but we managed! Breakfast was good, but it does seem to have changed since our last visit and I didn't see much by way of a 'continental breakfast' with meat and cheese. All was good but I was really surprised at the cost of drinks at the bar - beer and wine were on the pricey side but as you would expect for a five star hotel, but if you want a cocktail be prepared to pay around £15-£16 each or a glass of Prosecco £11, which I think is really expensive!!! On the whole a good trip and I would recommend and I'm sure we will re-visit but definitely won't be partaking in a cocktail!!!

Beautiful hotel in really lovely surroundings. Good sized bedrooms with plenty of storage with good sized bathrooms and separate toilets. All of the hotel was really clean and all staff were very friendly and polite especially the entertainment team and pool staff. Pool area was very large with plenty of parasols and shade for those who wanted it. Restaurant service was good and food was lovely with plenty of options available at each service. Spa was spotless and massages were lovely and relaxing .

The Grand hotel in Eastbourne is the most luxurious hotel I've ever been to.There is a area where you can leave your children and 3 excellent eating areas. It is just in front of the parade and is just a walk away to the pair. Well worth the money.

I took my husband here as part of his Birthday surprises.
We were very warmly welcomed and had a gorgeous Afternoon Tea in the grand Foyer of the Hotel.
I would certainly recommend it and will be going back again.

First time to stay at The Grand, splendid friendly welcome on arrival and bags whisked away and taken to room (The Ritz London doormen take note).

Upgraded to a lovely large room on the third floor, which was an unexpected pleasure.
Large bathroom and yes a view of the sea. 2 lifts

Ate in The Garden Restaurant with friends, delicious food and served by friendly staff, who must have been rushed off their feet it being Tennis week, but they did not show it. Yes you can eat the viola flowers which adorned most dishes.

Very relaxing stay with such comfort and lovely amenities which I did not use due to lack of time and general snoozieness. Inside and outside pools, gym and treatment rooms.

Breakfasts were plentiful with lots of choices hot and cold, lots of fresh fruit and either self serve or waiter serve whatever you wanted.

Hope to go and stay again, I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, it was so relaxing and in beautiful surroundings, but it is the staff who make such a difference as they are very professional and well trained

A hotel full of character. Excellent service and lovely warm indoor pool and jacuzzi. Food was excellent and some great English wine to be had. Not cheap but then you don't stay here if you want cheap.

We enjoyed a stress free four nights break at The Grand Hotel Eastbourne. The fact that the hotel is dog friendly and has reserved car parking made it an ideal choice. The food was exceptional, the room was perfect and the service we received was second to none.

I came to this hotel with my mother for her 80th birthday celebration did not meet my expectations of a 5 star hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful but let down by the accomodation very basic considering what I paid very disappointed with room.

Grand is the word. The architecture of the building is magnificent and the level of service, excellent. It was great to be met with valet parking and Tony the porter is helpful, polite, friendly and engaging. A real asset to the place. The staff clearly take a pride in the hotel.

The communal areas are palatial, if dated. We booked last minute and were assigned a room with an internal view on the first floor. It was a good size but the view was frightful and the room was stuffy so we upgraded to a room on the top floor with a double aspect view which was great.

The Grand deserves its five star rating but if I were the CEO, I’d be thinking about how to reinvent the hotel for today’s market and more importantly, the future. It’s quaint that they ’turn down’ the rooms at 5pm but why no mini bar or fridge in the room? Why no music in the bar?

The hotel bar makes an excellent Martini but on the night we were there, lacked any sort of ‘buzz’. The restaurant offers fine dining which is good but less and less what today’s market wants.

It’s one of the only places in Eastbourne with an outdoor pool but again, it needs updating. There’s an outside BBQ area that is plain dirty.

Overall - and due mainly to the architecture and the staff - we would stay again.
