Went to this pub as a large group for an evening meal. Staff were very friendly and were happy to accommodate us all by moving tables together. The food was excellent. Tasted home cooked and there were a friendly and busy feel there.

We went for an family meal on a Friday evening. We arrived to a newly refurbished pub. Whoever oversaw the renovation has really though about finishing touches and really has completely changed this pub. The decor is lovely and to top it off they have the most amazing Christmas decorations (not tacky), worth going to see if you love Christmas.
We had booked so has a table laid with name places and also crackers (beautiful tree decoration inside, not cheap crackers). The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. It was also very reasonable priced.
The drinks were good. Great selection and fairly priced.
On the evening there was a band playing. Great songs and a good choice in band. It worked and wasn’t took dominating. There was an area for dancing for those who wanted to.
Last but definitely not least the staff were lovely. Everyone was smiley and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Service felt genuine.
We’ll be back soon.

Had my Xmas party here at the weekend, it was a nice function area, with friendly staff but wanted to especially mention the young man on the upstairs bar - He was really hard working, friendly and polite.

Wow, so impressed with the amount of choice between the original and new menus and the daily specials board.....
This delightful seafront pub offers extensive Vegan options & Gluten free, as well as all the usual pub style favourites and more!!
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a wonderful real log fire and a lovely clean well kept interior.
Staff were extremely attentive and dealt with our order quickly and efficiently, we had a couple of fussy teens with us but nothing was to much trouble.
I'm sure I will be visiting this delightful pub again and again over the coming months, looking forward to working my way through the exciting new menu!!

We visited this Greene King pub as it is in a convenient location on the seafront only 200metres east of Eastbourne pier. We were very pleasantly surprised by the pub's ambience -all the staff were friendly & everyone was made to feel welcome.
The meal we had from the extensive menu was excellent -as well as a 'Specials board's there are menus for 'gluten free' & vegetarian/vegan meals. As a starter we had the delicious 'halloumi fries' with a salsa dip &garlic mushrooms followed by mains of home made shortcrust pastry steak&ale pie with roast potatoes &mixed veg +a vegetarian moussaka. Both were excellent &washed down with a nice Malbec (there was a choice of 6reds, 6whites, 3rosés as well as a wide selection of spirits & there were 3real ales on tap)There is also a pool table &darts (in a separate area) & live sport shown on several TV screens (in silence so your meal would not be disturbed)
The prices are very reasonable &this pub is well worth seeking out.

This is an unpretentious local pub situated on the eastern promenade at Eastbourne. It is not pretending to be anything else but a decent British pub serving a decent range of ales and lagers. We popped in on the off chance that lunch was still being served as it was after 2 pm and the dog was allowed in and the answer to both was yes with a big smile. So welcome in this day and age! I cannot speak highly enough of the bar and waiting staff. Knowledgeable and polite. The food was very good indeed. Lamb Shank and Steak and Ale Pie, huge portions and very well presented. So a pleasant and filling Sunday Lunch and a nice drop of real ale. Marvelous!

We ended up here as we were in Eastbourne for the weekend and looking for somewhere to eat that was dog friendly! We did not find many places in Eastbourne to be dog friendly at all! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even bringing our dog some dog biscuits and a drink of water, a nice gesture. The menus was varied and catered for many different dieters. We ordered the vegetarian sharer and it was huge! It was all very nice and tasty, well prepared and well presented. We then ordered mains of lamb shank and a Stilton burger. Unfortunately the mains let themselves down, the lamb shank meal was over seasoned and did not have enough gravy, although the meat was tender and fell off the bone. The burger was inedible, very tough and salty! Most of the Stilton had soaked into the bread. The chips and salad were good and the homemade coleslaw was delicious. Our dog enjoyed some of the burger, but it was even difficult to cut so we gave up after a while. It’s a busy welcoming place, we would return but just avoid the burgers.

At last a "PUB".. a drinking establishment where you can drink..eat..and enjoy this is what a pub should be, yes noisy but that does not ruin the atmosphere it creates it, the staff are friendly and helpful..my wife is on a stick with limited leg movement but the staff helped us, The food is pub food but my god its great and for those of us who enjoy real ale the is plenty of choice, cost? Well I expected far more than I was charged...When in Eastbourne give it a visit it is well worth it and my wife and I say thank you to all concerned.

After reading reviews on Fb we tried this place in the daytime for a drink and a game of pool first.
Loved the pub and staff were very welcoming.Decided to book a table for the same evening and even choose were we wanted to sit in the lounge part not the bar part which was lovely.
My partner had Roast chicken with Roast potatoes, fresh veg broccolli, cabbage, swede, carrots, stuffing and gravy. It looked lovely. My partner said it was red hot, tasty and cooked to an excellent standard. I had Steak and Ale pie. The steak was beautiful and I could definitely taste the Ale. This came with mash potatoes and the same veg as above with extra gravy. All was piping hot, very fresh and cooked to perfection.
Could not have faulted our meal at all. The only thing was we were too full to try the pudding which sounded and looked lovely. I had a bottled coke and my Partner has a pint of draft coke. The young lad behind the bar did tell us that the draft pint of coke was £5 before he poured it so we did have the chance not to have this if we didn't want it.
We had double Jd with coke and a double baileys with ice later which was over £15. But this in turn would not stop us from eating here hopefully again this week before going home. The food and atmosphere and friendly staff made up for the expensive drinks.

Cheerful and helpful staff behind the bar and serving the food. Good choice for all tastes with a specials board. I chose the homemade soup and roll which was very tasty and my husband had a main course which was all delivered to our table with a smile. My husband commented that the beer was a bit expensive but that might be because we are a bit out of touch.

Has been refurbished and not as dingy as it used to be. Good place to go to watch the football, eat (food is decent) and they normally have live music on the weekends. Located just off Eastbourne Sea Front, along from the Pier. Well worth a visit.

Had lunch at The Crown And Anchor on Sunday with my family. I have to tell you I had probably the best steak pie I’ve ever eaten. The shortcrust pastry was so tasty. The juices of the gravy inside the pie had just seeped through the pastry casing and then cooked firm on the outside. Bueatifull. The amount of solid steak meat inside was more than the average. A very good portion served with the normal vegetables and a lovely home made thick gravy to accompany the dish.
Well recommended and worth a visit.

If you are in Eastbourne you must visit the Crown and Anchor. Wonderful staff, wonderful food and good service. They have a specials board and a menu. All food is home cooked. Try the pie or lamb shank. The burgers are home made, try the stilton burger. Be careful the portions are huge with a good selection of veggies or salad. They have a good selection of wine. Visited twice in same weekend
